|About This Convention|
|Cheyenne Comic Con
Wyoming’s first comic convention and pop culture event of it’s kindOUR HISTORY
We started out with our locally owned comic shop The Loft Collectibles, Comics & Games. It literally was in a loft at first with only 450 square feet. Within a year we moved to our current location and have been thriving since.
May of 2015 was when C3 began as an idea and is now coming to fruition. We started the Wyoming Comic Book Initiative as a non profit organization to provide the tools and the supplies to young readers so that they may continue their education through comics.
Comic books, are more accepted today by educators as tools for helping children master literacy. The funny, silly, clever, and touching story lines in each short strip draw eager readers in. Just a few words per frame is all it takes for a comic book’s characters to reveal a complete story. They don’t require long sentences or paragraphs to relate a captivating tale or a powerful message.

12:00–1:00 p.m. 30 Years and Counting: Comics Classics in the Modern Age (ElfQuest: 1978; Nexus: 1981, Groo: 1982) (North 128b)
In the late 1970s and early ’80s, some of the most inventive and inspired alternative comics found a place on shelves. ElfQuest offered a unique vision of black and white fantasy, while Nexus gave readers a version of the superhero idea more rooted in science fiction than capes and cowls. Meanwhile, Groo the Wanderer took a humorous take on the sword and sorcery genre, popularized by the likes of Conan the Barbarian in the previous decade. Over 30 years later, we pay tribute to some of comics’ longest-running ongoing collaborations for a discussion with the creators themselves! Join Richard and Wendy Pini (ElfQuest), Mike Baron (Nexus), and Mark Evanier (Groo) as they share the secrets to the success of a few of comics’ most revered story lines!
