Writer Matt Fraction signs at Floating World Comics on Wednesday July 11, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
The third volume of Matt Fraction’s psychedelic super-spy series has reached its conclusion and we are proud to celebrate the release of the trade paperback this Wednesday July 11th. What started as Matt’s take on a Diabolik/James Bond homage quickly took on a life of its own and is now regarded as Fraction’s magnum opus in the making.
The world’s sexiest and savviest superspy is back, killing his way from dimension to dimension in a high-stakes, action-packed adventure. The true identity of megasuperdupervillain NEWMAN XENO is now known to Casanova Quinn and E.M.P.I.R.E. – which means our man Casanova is now a pan-dimensional killer with one target hiding in an infinitely complex sprawl of realities.
CASANOVA: AVARITIA answers every question (almost), solves every riddle (kind of), and explains absolutely everything you ever wanted to know about the world of CASANOVA (in a way). Casanova Quinn, hated on all sides by tyrant and hero alike, must flee from time and space, aim one batch of enemies at the other, kill everybody and save everything simultaneously. Don’t be afraid: you are an apocalypse dreaming of butterflies + the first part of reincarnation is dying…

It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.
Since its inception, The Hero Initiative has had the good fortune to grant over $500,000 to the comics veterans who have paved the way for those in the industry today. For more information, visit www.heroinitiative.org or call 626-676-6354.
Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick host an exclusive screening of the new documentary by Patrick Meaney, WARREN ELLIS: CAPTURED GHOSTS at Floating World Comics on Friday Jan. 6th, 2012 from 7-9pm.
The film features the most extensive interview Ellis has ever given, and spans his life, from his first memory watching the moon landing as a child, to his recent cross-media success with the film adaptation of Red. Along the way, Ellis’s acerbic wit and core belief in humanity comes across like never before.
Complimenting Ellis’s own words are interviews with his artistic collaborators, friends and admirers from across all media, including actress Helen Mirren, Director Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), comedian Patton Oswalt, Adult Film Star Stoya, Musician Claudio Sanchez (of Coheed and Cambria), comics writers Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue DeConnick, and Antony Johnston, and futurist Jamais Cascio. Ellis’s comics collaborators like Marvel Comics CCO Joe Quesada, artists Darick Robertson, Ben Templesmith and Phil Jimenez also provide insight into Ellis’s mind and creative workings. The film features numerous ambient interludes that spotlight Ellis’s prose and writing from both his online columns and his comics.

Attendees can register online at http://www.comic-con.org/wc/wc_reg.shtml.
WonderCon is a three-day event that has continued to grow in size and stature throughout its 25-year history. WonderCon Announces First Slate of Special Guests
Popular Comics Convention Relocates to Anaheim, California for 2012
ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 27, 2011 — WonderCon, part of the Comic-Con International (CCI) family of nonprofit comics conventions, today announced its first group of special guests. Sergio Aragones (cartoonist, Groo, MAD, Sergio Aragones Funnies), Matt Fraction (writer, Invincible Iron Man, Casanova, Fear Itself, Mighty Thor), Mike Mignola (writer/artist/creator, Hellboy, B.P.R.D.), and J. Michael Straczynski (writer, Superman: Earth One) are among the 11 newly announced special guests to appear at the 2012 event held in Anaheim, California, March 16-18.
Coming off its most successful year in 2011, WonderCon, traditionally held in San Francisco, is relocating to a new venue next year. Due to ongoing renovations at the event’s usual location, WonderCon organizers were forced to search for an alternate site for 2012.
“Because of its consistently stellar list of special guests, schedule of programs, and exhibitors WonderCon continues to be one of the most popular comics conventions in the country for fans of comic books, sci-fi, and fantasy,” commented David Glanzer, WonderCon spokesperson and director of marketing and public relations for parent company CCI. “We are confident the move to Anaheim will bring the same level of excitement, if not more enthusiasm, for one of the biggest and best genre-related shows in the country.”
Originally considered a regional show for Northern California, in recent years WonderCon has so closely resembled its sister show in San Diego in terms of guests and programming that it has become a full-fledged national show attracting attendees and media from all over the country and across the globe, so much so that this year some are calling it “Anaheim Comic-Con.”
Additional guests announced today include Art Adams (artist, Longshot, Monkeyman & O’Brien, Tom Strong, Hulk); Mark Evanier (comics and TV writer, Blackhawk, The DNAgents, Crossfire the animated Garfield); Michael Golden (artist, The ‘Nam, Micronauts, Bucky O’Hare); Steve Niles (writer/creator, 30 Days of Night, Criminal Macabre, Mystery Society); Eric Powell (writer/artist/creator, The Goon); Bob Schreck (editor-in-chief, Legendary Comics); and Fiona Staples (artist, Mystery Society, SAGA).
