Matt Dembicki, writer and artist of the nature graphic novel Xoc: The Journey of a Great White (Oni Press), will sign and talk about his book Thursday April 18, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. This event is free and open to the public.
Xoc explores the Pacific Ocean through the eyes of one of the animal kingdom’s top predators, the Great White shark. The adventure starts in our backyard and the predators’ stomping ground, the Farallon Islands, located roughly 30 miles off the coast of San Francisco. The story embarks on a cross-ocean journey, following the encounters of a 17-foot shark—from preying to being preyed on.

Hundreds of cartoonists responded and sent artwork for Team Cul de Sac: Cartoonists Draw the Line at Parkinson’s, including Bill Watterson of Calvin and Hobbes fame, Garry Trudeau (Doonesbury), Nick Galifianakis, Mo Willems (The Pigeon books), Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Pat Oliphant (Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist), Gene Weingarten and David Clark (Barney & Clyde), Mason Mastroianni (B.C.), Roger Langridge (Muppet Show comic book, Marvel’s Thor: The Mighty Avenger, Fred the Clown), Shannon Gallant (G.I.Joe), Michael Cavna (Washington Post) and more.
