Artist Charlie Adlard launches the first issue of The Walking Dead: The Official Magazine at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore at 1:00 on Saturday 10th November.

From Robert Kirkman’s Eisner Award-winning comic book series, best-selling graphic novels and Emmy-winning AMC television series comes The Walking Dead: The Official Magazine, a new Titan Magazines and Skybound production. Artist Charlie Adlard began his work in the UK on White Death with Robbie Morrison and many 2000 AD series including Judge Dredd, Armitage, and Savage.

He is well known for his work on The X-Files, Astronauts in Trouble and, of course, The Walking Dead from Image Comics. He is currently the regular penciller on The Walking Dead.

His other work includes Mars Attacks!, The Hellfire Club, and Warlock for Marvel Comics, Batman: Gotham Knights and Green Lantern / Green Arrow for DC Comics and a great many others.

Please note that, due to time constraints, Charlie Adlard will not be sketching at this event – and there may be restrictions on the number of items to be signed.

We’re Celebrating 50 Years of Mars Attacks

Harrisburg, PA – October 1, 2012 – The 57th Philly Non-Sports Card Show will take place October 20 and 21 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Merchants Square Mall in Allentown, PA (1901 S 12th Street, Allentown, PA 18103). The Philly Non-Sports Card Show is the premier event for non-sport and entertainment card collectors and has been running continuously since the 1980s.

To coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Mars Attacks, a seminal trading card series, and the recent release of Topps’ Mars Attacks Heritage trading cards, the show will have a Mars Attacks theme. Show goers will be treated to an exclusive Topps Mars Attacks promotional card, several Mars Attacks inspired self-produced Philly Show cards, Mars Attacks prizes, and more. Collectors are encouraged to wear their best alien gear.

As always, collectors will find dealers selling a diverse array of trading cards depicting everything from Garbage Pail Kids to The Walking Dead. Many trading card manufacturers will be exhibiting including Breygent Marketing, Cryptozoic Entertainment, Monsterwax, Non-Sport Update, Rittenhouse Archives, shopTopps, SideKick, Topps, and others

Several artists will also be exhibiting, most of whom have worked on Mars Attacks cards in the past. Those artists include: Doug Cowan, Ted Dastick Jr., Brian Kong, Ed Repka, and Sara Richard.

A special gathering for NSU Card Talk forum members and guests will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, the show’s host hotel (advance registration is required). In keeping with the Mars Attacks theme, Topps’ Licensing Manager will speak about where the license is heading.

Admission to the Philly Non-Sports Card Show is just $6 daily. A two-day pass may be purchased for $10. Show hours are Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, 10 AM to 3 PM.

Topps Announces 9 Card Mars Attacks Promo Set for SDCC 2012

June 8 –  Topps is pleased to announce a set of promotional MARS ATTACKS trading cards for distribution exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con in July.  This set of 9 free cards, featuring all-new art by Eisner award-winning artist John McCrea, is timed to coincide with the release of Mars Attacks Heritage, a deluxe re-issue of the original trading card series.

The giveaway will be the centerpiece of several events planned for San Diego Comic-Con, including a MARS ATTACKS 50th Anniversary panel on Saturday.   To find the cards, fans must visit nine different booths throughout the convention.  When all of the cards are collected they will form larger image which showcases characters from IDW’s upcoming MARS ATTACKS ongoing comic book series by John Layman and McCrea.

“We couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate MARS ATTACKS’ 50th birthday than at San Diego Comic-Con,” said Adam Levine, Topps’ Licensing Manager. “This free scavenger hunt is our way of  bringing the fun of MARS ATTACKS directly to the fans.”

The exclusive cards will be available throughout the weekend at the booths of Abrams Books, Diamond Comic Distributors, Funko, Gentle Giant Ltd, IDW Publishing, Mezco Toyz, Nerdist News via Legendary Pictures, Russ Walks & Wild Tempest and Toynk Toys.   Supplies will be strictly limited, and are expected to go fast.

“We’ve got big things planned for MARS ATTACKS this year, next year and beyond, and we hope fans will join us in San Diego to celebrate not just the 50th birthday, but a whole new beginning for MARS ATTACKS,” said Levine.
