PHILADELPHIA, May 4, 2010 — Philadelphia Comic Con, part of North America’s largest pop-culture touring expo, will return to the “City of Brotherly Love” for the 10th straight year with a three-day run at Philadelphia Convention Center, Friday through Sunday, June 11-13, 2010. Philadelphia Comic Con will bring together thousands of fans of all ages and more than 150 celebrities and industry professionals to celebrate the best in pop culture movies, comics, toys, video gaming, television, anime, manga, horror, sports, original art, collectibles, contests, movie screenings, and more.

Event-goers may also try their hand interactive product exhibits by trend-setting brands such as Ford (displaying a new vehicle), THQ (showing a video game) and TBS (screening a new television program); shop for collectible comics, movie and television memorabilia, toys and games at more than 400 dealer booths; and experience the show’s Horror Pavilion dedicated to writers, artists, musicians, and actors well known in that genre.

Sanctioned Tabletop Gaming Tournaments for Warhammer & Warhammer 40k and Trading Card Gaming Tournaments for YuGiOh, Pokemon, World of Warcraft & Magic the Gathering will take place throughout the weekend offering casual and competitive players the opportunity to win valuable prizes and increase their rankings. Additionally, event- goers are invited to bring their own short films to the expo, and enter the NYC Horror Film Festival’s Killer Short Sudden Death Competition. Winners will be inducted into the NYC Horror Film Festival program later this year.

Philadelphia Comic Con is the third stop on Wizard’s nine-city 2010 North American tour. Doors open Fri., June 11 from noon – 8 p.m. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., and hours on Sunday are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (all times Eastern). Seattle– That’s right! One page of DOES feature a fantastic monster piece by artist Michael Golden, while the other pages are illustrated by some of the other greatest names in the sequential arts business, including painter supreme, Mark Texeira.

This year, the annual charity art book “Monsters and Dames,” measures 9×12, 48 pages, full color, hardcover, and limited to only 850 copies, individually numbered copies and features contributions from guests appearing at the 2010 show. This great book is available at the ECCC show booth, #604.

Part of the proceeds from “Monsters and Dames,” benefits the Seattle Children’s Hospital, a premier child health care and pediatric center and recognized as one of the leading US hospitals for children. What a great idea to buy on of these volumes and get it signed by all the creators involved!

New Artbooks Available/ Visionaries Panel Planned

New York, NY– There is no venue quiet like the Big Apple, and with the weather getting a bit chilly out there, here’s the perfect chance to warm up, grab your own bite of what the city has to offer, and meet some of your favorite comic book creators in town for this unique one day event, all at the same time!

Mike Carbo’s New York Comic Book Marketplace is set for Saturday, February 27th, from 11am to 7pm, at the Penn Plaza Pavilion, 401 7th Ave at 33rd St, New York City! Seattle, WA – January 26, 2010 – The Emerald City ComiCon (ECCC) is once again bringing back its popular MONSTERS & DAMES art book for 2010. Golden and Texeira Head to France for Lille Comics Festival

Golden and Texeira Join Forces in Lille
France–The Lille Comics Festival doesn’t start until Saturday, but Michael Golden, Mark Texeira and Renee Witterstaetter are in the city early to jump start the event with art classes and store signings each day before the show.

Guest of Honor, Michael Golden, known for his groundbreaking work on titles such as The ‘Nam, Micronauts, G.I. Joe Yearbook, The Avengers,Batman, and Dr. Strange has dazzled generations of fans and establisheing him as one of the most influential creators in comics, with a body of work that inspired countless artists over the years.

During his career, Golden has been an editor at DC Comics as well as senior art director at Marvel Comics, and has worked on numerous movie production projects, including some currently in development.

His art has been the focus of gallery shows in places as diverse as New York, Gijon and Barcelona, Antwerp and Brussels, and his class on storytelling has been conducted in Spain, Brussels, Canada, the United States and China. Golden’s recent work can be seen on the covers of Heroes for Hire, Exiles,Demon’s Regret, Uncanny X-Men, and Spiderman, among others. Vanguard Production’s recently released top-selling art retrospective “Excess: The Art of Michael Golden,” written by Renee Witterstaetter, which has gone into a second printing. This year will also see the release of Golden’s new sketchbook, “More Heroes and Villains,” from Eva Ink Publishing-a perfect match for last year’s “Heroes and Villains” sketchbook.

In addition, while in Lille, Golden is teaching a 2 hour course at the local art school as part of this important cultural exchange, adding this beautiful and historic city to the list of venues where he is previewing this truncated version of his longer 2 day art class to debut next year.

Mark Texeira is best known for his work on Marvel titles such as Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Black Panther, and more, showcasing a knack of bringing striking reality, powerful mood, and visceral feeling to any story he tackles.

His fine-art style has also graced numerous album covers, magazine covers, paperback books, movie tie-ins, and gaming merchandise. His clients include Def Jam Records, Marvel Entertainment, Dynamite, Harris, DC Comics, and pretty much every publisher we could name. His brush has brought to life characters such as Vampirella, Conan, and Batman, as well as Tex’s creator-owned character Pscythe.

Mark is currently working on a new Punisher mini-series for Marvel among much more.

Writer, editor, color artist, and publisher, Renee Witterstaetter began her career working for DC, Marvel, and Topps. After a storytelling immersion in comics, film work was a natural progression for her, and she worked on dozens of commercials and music videos for the likes of Madonna, Seal, and Usher, as well as the feature films Rush Hour Two, and Red Dragon, among others. She is the author of numerous books, including “Dying for Action: The Life and Films of Jackie Chan,” “The Fantastic Art of Arthur Suydam,” and “The Art of the Barbarian, vols. 1 and 2, the top-selling “Excess: The Art of Michael Golden” and “Tex: The Art of Mark Texeira,” and her upcoming mystery novel. She has just recently returned from presenting a new paper at an animation forum in China, as well.

Michael, Mark and Renee will be appearing at comic shops in Lille the two days leading up to the show, signing and taking commission requests. New York–This weekend, Pier 92 in Manhattan is going to be jam-packed with comics, gaming and animation fans, as the Big Apple Convention celebrates the merging with Wizard Entertainment and AND a new location. Artist Mark Texeira will be on hand to add some bite to the event, and celebrate his own first–the release of his new art book from Vanguard Productions!

Currently working on a much anticipated Punisher mini-series from Marvel, fine art painter and illustrator, Texeira is known for his work on “Ghost Rider,” “Moonknight,” “Black Panther,” “Hercules,” “Jonah Hex,” and far too many books to mention here. (It started in 2006 with a simple idea: Provide hope and new memories to the children of our fallen military heroes who died while on active duty since September 11, 2001), and MoCCA–devoted to the preservation, study and display of comic and cartoon art.

James Kyson Lee (Heroes) and Ray Park (Star Wars, G.I. Joe) will Headline Mid-0hio-Con 2009 as Special Media Guests

Lee and Park Join an Outstanding Roster of Comic Creators as Guests at the 29th Annual Mid-Ohio-Con

Registration is Now Open for Exhibitor Booths, Indie Publisher Booths and Tables in Creators’ Common

Mid-Ohio-Con today announced that Ray Park and James Kyson Lee will headline Mid-Ohio-Con 2009 as special media guests. Park is best known as Darth Maul from Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and he will star in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opening on August 7th. James Kyson Lee is best known for his starring role as Ando Masahashi in Heroes, which will return to NBC for its 4th season this fall.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have these two superstars on board for our 2009 show,” said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con. “Mid-Ohio-Con 2008 was acclaimed as one of the best events in Mid-Ohio-Con’s long history and we’re going to recreate last year’s magic with a who’s who of the leading names from the worlds of comic books, gaming, film, and television at this year’s show.”

The fast-growing guest list for 2009 also features guests of honor Bernie Wrightson and Michael Golden along with Art Baltazar, Jacob Chabot, Ron Frenz, Gary Friedrich, Bryan J.L. Registration is now open for Exhibitor Booths, Indie Publisher Booths, and Creators’ Common Tables. The show floor in Exhibition Hall E at the Greater Columbus Convention Center will accommodate nearly 200 Exhibitor Booths for retailers, publishers, manufacturers, and service providers, and 100 Creators’ Common tables for artists, writers, actors, and other guests.
