New York Comic Con hosts their Fifth Annual Charity Art Auction to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Saturday, October 10th at 7:00 PM in Room 1A18! For more details and to see a preview of the art, click here…
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Included in that vision is that no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.
The auctioneer for the charity event will be Steve Borock! Steve is the president of CBCS (Comic Book Certification Service), an expert, impartial third party grading service; He also serves on the board of the Hero Initiative, a charity helping comic book creators in financial need. He believes in charity for all in need and is proud to help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with our original art auction!
Your participation in this event will help support lifesaving research and treatment for the children of St. Jude. Come down and bid with other art enthusiasts for the chance to own a piece of original art from some of your favorite creators, all for a good cause!

Added guest artist – Lee Weeks!
The Great Allentown Comic Con! is proud to announce that the Lee Weeks will be attending our upcoming April 16th Show!
Lee Weeks made his professional comics debut in the 1980s, penciling, inking, and lettering a short story (“Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk”) in Tales of Terror #5, a horror anthology published by Eclipse Comics. He is best known for his work for Marvel Comics on Daredevil Vol. 1 series (1990 – 1992), where he penciled the Last Rites storyline. It featured the fall of the Kingpin and is a sequel of sorts to Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s Born Again.
Other titles he is well known for include: Batman, Gambit, Spiderman, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and Captain Marvel just to name a few. He illustrated the Juggernaut storyline in Amazing Spider-man and recently has been writing and drawing a Daredevil project In sum it could be said that the list of characters Lee has not touched during his long career is shorter that those which he has influenced.
He will be available for only a limited time during the day, so be sure to arrive early and secure a spot in line to see him! Rumor has it he also knows a few good card tricks. So be sure to stop by and ask him to show you one!
For more about Lee please check out Modern Masters Volume 17: Lee Weeks – a definitive 128 page book chronicling his childhood, career in comics, and faith in Jesus Christ.
In addition to Lee Weeks, the GACC will also have an Exclusive comic from 215Ink guest Adam Wilson – Free to the first 50 attendees! And a fabulous lineup of guests including: Gus Fink, Doug Baron, Glenn Whitmore, Darrel Goza, Eric Cooper, Jim Kyle and Many More!

“Six Flags Great Comic Book Adventure” is coming!
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ has asked John Paul of www.njcomicbookshows.com (aka Pug Productions) to run a comicon for them on Sunday, May 29th. That is the full opening weekend for the park this season (limited hours of operation begin in April) … and also the opening of their Green Lantern rollercoaster.
Since it would be the first comicon at the park, they are starting this year with a one day show. It will have extended hours though… from 10:30-8:00.
There will be 100 dealer tables and dozens of creators.
While they are soliciting dealers and creators, the amount of space is finite, so if anyone is interested please send Mr. Paul an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
Even though they just finalized a few days ago, they already have commitments from the following dealers (and more) for nearly fifty tables: Gary Platt, Wild Pig Comics, New World Manga, Comic Crusaders, Bob Fox, Mike Williams, Bazooka Jeff, Chris Wertz, Graffiti Comix, Adam the Comic Pimp and Rob Campitiello. Cost is $100 per 6′ table, with two park passes included for each table purchased.
Artists so far will include Lee Weeks and Fred Hembeck. They expect to wind up with a large well-rounded roster of both major and local talent.
There will be a costume contest with prizes and also a charity auction for the “Childrens Miracle Network”. More events will be added prior to the show.
Convention admission will be included with park admission for the day. There will be a link up soon to prepurchase park tickets for the day at $30 (half off the regular price of $60). Remember, this gives you full access to the park as well at a bargain price.
If any of you remember the very successful Montclair Art Museum show run by Mr. Paul a few years ago, this should blow that away!
Additional updates will be provided as more info becomes available.
Lee Weeks has been creating comics or over two decades for all the major companies; on such Marvel titles as Daredevil, Captain America, Gambit, The Incredible Hulk, and Spider-Man: Death and Destiny (written by Lee, as well), while his art for DC’s Batman Chronicles: The Gauntlet is among the most finely crafted in the character’s history. He recently illustrated the Juggernaut storyline in Amazing Spider-man and is currently writing and drawing a Daredevil project. Lee was the subject of Tomorrows Publishing’s “Modern Masters: volume 17: Lee Weeks” (available at Amazon.com), which explores his life, career, and faith. Lee resides in Pennsylvania with his wife and two daughters.
Rumor has it he also knows a few good card tricks. Stop by and ask him.
