Tyler James signs at Larry’s Comics on Wednesday, January 2nd from 4:00 – 8:00 pm!
One year ago, Larry’s Wonderful World of Comics was the first shop in the world to carry THE RED TEN, written by local creator and ComixTribe publisher Tyler James. On January 2nd, 2013, the rest of the #comicmarket catches up, as THE RED TEN #1 makes its Diamond Debut.
To celebrate that release, Tyler James will be in for a store signing event, but that’s not all… For the first time anywhere, the OXYMORON hardcover, a spin-off of THE RED TEN series, will be unveiled. This is an OVERSIZED HARDCOVER graphic novel collection of stories about a supervillain psychopath obsessed with contradiction. This stunning hardcover collection features stories by up-and-coming writers and artists, including Jason Ciaramella (The Cape, Godzilla), Joe Mulvey (Scam), local artist Alex Cormack (Chikara), and more, and is edited by James.
On display will be all of the the unprecedented TEN variant hardcovers, including the Larry’s Comics Exclusive Variant, drawn by the L-Man himself, Larry Doherty! Anyone purchasing Larry’s hardcover will get a FREE Artist Edition tip-in plate, drawn by Larry during the event!
The first 20 people in the door for the signing will get a FREE signed Oxymoron print! And for the Drink and Draw crew, Tyler will be looking for at least one pin-up of a ComixTribe character to be printed in an upcoming issue.

Many retailers are concerned that the “DC Explanation Tour 2011″ has too few stops to satisfy all of us. It’s a big change, happening very quickly, being met with lots of uncertainty. Happening even quicker is the “DC Explanation Tour 2011.” With many prime comic book retail regions being left out and only a few weeks to make proper plans many of us just won’t be able to attend.
This Tuesday, June 14, 2011, all retailers are urged to chime in to the #comicmarket Twitterstorm to share the questions they want to ask DC Comics.
“#comicmarket is the perfect place for everyone to be heard,” said Larry Doherty of Larry’s Comics and #comicmarket founder. “With so many retailers participating in #comicmarket, we will prompt important questions that have been over looked. It is certain that a number of #comicmarket participants will make the DC Tour meetings and ask those questions.”
Larry Marder posed some great questions early Sunday morning (search @larrymarder or #comicmarket to review his questions), focusing on the business aspect of the change, as opposed to the fan aspect. He said, “DC retail tour can’t be about content & teams. Sharp focus on marketing & biz detail needed. Not Superman’s lost panties.”
Please be a part of #comicmarket this Tuesday, June 14, 2011 and tell the Comic Market all the important questions you have for DC, and then join #comicmarket every Tuesday and help support #comicmarket!
“In fairness, I don’t believe the DC Tour was initially planned so they’ve had to scramble and have done the best they could to include as many retail regions as possible, covering as much ground as they can in a short period of time, while still being a part of the Summer convention circuit. While I regret that New England is not on the tour I understand that time is working against all of us and many areas could not be visited – just a side note that I think is important.” -Ralph DiBernando, owner of Jetpack Comics and #comicmarket founder.
About #COMICMARKET TUESDAY
Every Tuesday on Twitter you can find a Twitterstorm of retailers, publishers, creators, and fans using the #comicmarket hash tag. #comicmarket is a break through comic industry initiative to engage anyone with any interest in comics in real-time conversation. An open forum where anyone can discuss anything comic related. With nearly a few months under our belt every week has grown in the number of posts and contributors. It is a place to market, ask questions, listen to complaints, and offer solutions. In a very short amount of time #comicmarket has become a valuable tool for the comic industry.
Founded by Larry’s Comics, Jetpack Comics, and Avatar Press, #comicmarket is an open forum, unedited, un-moderated type of discussion the industry has needed for years. Every week you will find useful information and great interaction. Sometimes heated, often funny, and always informative #comicmarket can only help you if you participate. Chime in with your insights, ask questions, and help the #comicmarket grow, to help the comic market grow!

Red-hot Image comics’ Skullkickers creators Jim Zubkavich and Edwin Huang are the special guests at this month’s Woburn Comic Book Show, and they’re looking for artwork from a New England fan to publish in their book!
Zubkavich and Huang will be the guests on Saturday, December 18th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Best Western Hotel in Woburn. Admission to the show is free! The show is sponsored by Larry’s Wonderful World of Comics in Lowell and features dozens of local comic book dealers and distributors.
Besides signing autographs and chatting it up with fellow comic fans, Zubkavich and Huang will be looking for a piece of pin-up art featuring his characters to spotlight in issue 5 of his ongoing Image comic.
So would-be artists, this is your chance at the big time. Bring along your artwork for Zubkavich and Huang to pore over, and if your offering kicks skulls, you could see your piece making it into the pages of one of the hottest titles on the comic racks these days!
Skullkickers has been described by some as The Hangover meets Dungeons & Dragons, and has already met with critical praise, selling out its first issue with ease.
Straight from Zubkavich’s website, Skullkickers is a fantasy-comedy comic series featuring two mercenaries entangled in a high-class assassination plot, and nothing – not werewolves, skeletons or black magic – will stop them from getting paid.
If you love fantasy, action-comedy, a touch of black-hearted violence and movies like Army of Darkness, then Skullkickers is the book for you!
Directions to the show:
