Judge Anderson: The Deep End Following the traumatic events of Peach Trees block, rookie psychic Judge Cassandra Anderson is still coming to terms with life on the mean streets of Mega-City One. When a strange of case of seemingly demonic possession requires her attention, it will play on her doubts and fears. DEEP END is the first comic-book sequel to the cult movie Dredd to focus on Anderson.

Alec Worley spent several years as a projectionist in London’s West End, before becoming a movie journalist. He got into comics through the slush pile at 2000 AD for whom he went on to write for classic characters Judge Dredd, Judge Anderson, and Robo-Hunter. He also writes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Realm of the Damned.

Slaine: Brutania Chronicles: Volume 3: Psychopomp Celtic warrior SLÁINE united the tribes of the Earth Goddess Danu and became the first High King of Ireland, before returning to being a wanderer.

Now, having journeyed to the Isle of Monadh to rescue Sinead from the Drune Lords, he’s discovered that they have been experimenting on their own creations — including the brutal, superhuman Primordial, whom Sláine has just learnt is his old friend Gort…

Artist Simon Davis has worked on a range of 2000AD stories, including Judge Dredd, Missionary Man and Sinister Dexter. He is also a noted portrait painter, mainly in oils, and is a member of both The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

UK – Beyond Watchmen & Judge Dredd Signing

Artist John Higgins launches his new book – and art exhibition – Beyond Watchmen & Judge Dredd, at Forbidden Planet’s Liverpool store at 1:00pm on Saturday 11th March. John Higgins has been the artist or colourist on some of the most iconic comic books of recent years. Here, collected together for the first time, is the best of Higgins breathtaking work. Alongside never before seen preliminary drawings of now iconic characters, the book includes insights into the career of the comic book artist.

Beyond Watchmen & Judge Dredd is not just a comprehensive overview of Higgin’s work – it is also an indispensable instruction manual on drawing and colouring technique.

John Higgins is an acclaimed graphic artist, writer and publisher. A frequent collaborator with Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, his work includes Batman: The Killing Joke, Watchmen, Judge Dredd, Before Watchmen, and Razorjack.

This signing is part of the launch of first major retrospective of the work of Liverpool-born artist, who found global success as a comic book artist and writer for 2000AD, DC and Marvel, running at Victoria Gallery & Museum within Liverpool University.

The exhibition will feature his original art displayed alongside examples of the work of the artists and science fiction classics that inspired him.

Beyond Dredd & Watchmen: The Art of John Higgins opens on Friday, 10 March 2017 and runs until October 2017.

2000 AD is to celebrate its birthday weekend in style with signings across the country!

With the massive success of the sold-out 40 Years of Thrill-power Festival in London last weekend and with its actual birthday of 26 February fast approaching, 2000 AD is delighted to announce new signing events in Manchester, Birmingham, and Scotland.

Earthlets who missed out on the historic event in Hammersmith will be able to meet just some of the incredible creators who’ve made 2000 AD the galaxy’s greatest comic.

The perfect tome to launch these celebrations is Thrill-power Overload, a whopping 300+ page hardcover containing the updated official history of 2000 AD, from its earliest days to its current success, from creator clashes to near-cancellation.

On Saturday 18 February, Biggar Library and Scottish independent Bookshop of the Year Atkinson-Pryce will host a Thrill-power Overload signing with artist Colin MacNeil (Judge Dredd: America) and former 2000 AD editor David Bishop from 1pm.

Then on Friday 24 February, Waterstones West End in Edinburgh will host Thrill-power Overload authors David Bishop and Karl Stock for a signing at 12.30pm.

At 1pm on Saturday 25 February, signings will take place at the Travelling Man comic book store in Manchester and the Nostalgia and Comics store Birmingham with topflight creators Steve Yeowell (Zenith), Leah Moore (Storm Warning), John Reppion (Storm Warning), Nick Percival (Judge Dredd), Ian Edginton (Scarlet Traces), D’Israeli (Scarlet Traces).

This year the legendary weekly British anthology comic 2000 AD celebrates forty years of innovative, provocative, and original sci-fi, fantasy, and horror action from the cream of comics creators. It has brought the industry some of its biggest talents, from Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, and Mark Millar, to Jock, Brian Bolland, Dave Gibbons, and many more. For 2000 years the Sect of Anubis have prolonged their life spans through human sacrifice and the enslavement of an Egyptian High Priestess cursed to walk the afterlife for all eternity. On one night every thirty years the Sect must offer up a human vessel to house the spirit of Nebetah so that they can kill her and drink her blood, thus granting them immortality. But this year they have chosen the wrong vessel and she’s not going willingly…

Peter Milligan is an award-winning London-based writer of comic books and graphic novels, published in many languages throughout the world. His work includes ground-breaking titles such as the psychedelic Shade The Changing Man and SKIN, about a skinhead suffering from the effects of Thalidomide, up to Greek Street, an homage to Greek myth seen through the prism of violent modern-day London. His work also includes the more mainstream, from Batman to the successful and critically acclaimed re-imagining of the X-Men myth: X-STATIX, described by Kevin Smith as “the most well-observed scholarly analysis of media-manipulation filtered through a pop-culture lens ever committed to the page”. He has also had two films produced: Pilgrim starring Ray Liotta and An Angel For May, starring Tom Wilkinson.

John McCrea is a respected illustrator and comic book artist who has illustrated iconic characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Hulk, Spider Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, Star Wars, Judge Dredd and the Simpsons. He works as an illustrator in book, record and magazine publishing, and undertakes design and storyboarding work for multimedia and the entertainment industry including being a Lucasfilm accredited artist. He also teaches in schools and colleges, and works with charitable organisations and local authorities producing comics spotlighting issues such as children’s rights, drug abuse, homelessness, safe sex and proper foot care.

San Diego Comic Con 2016 is now upon us and 2000 AD is pleased to be hosting some of our favorite creators!
