NYC – Into the Night Screening

Director John Landis hosts a screening on Monday, November 21 at 6:45pm.

Directed by John Landis
With Jeff Goldblum, Michele Pfeiffer

(1985) 115min, 35mm

(After finding his wife in bed with another man, an insomniac suburbanite (Goldblum) takes off on an all-night adventure through Los Angeles with a femme fatale on the run (Pfeiffer). In this essential example of LA playing itself (punctuated with cameos by offbeat icons Jack Arnold, David Cronenberg, Amy Heckerling, Paul Mazursky, Don Siegel, and Jim Henson), Landis’ fascination with this city’s landscape, history, and mythology has never been more evident.

NYC – The Blues Brothers Screening

Director John Landis hosts a screening on Tuesday, November 22 at 7pm.

(1980) 133min, 35mm

The threadbarest of plots allows room for the pure pleasures of this two-hour chase scene. Upon learning that the orphanage they grew up in will close if they can’t come up with $5,000, Jake and Elwood Blues (Belushi and Aykroyd) set out on a “mission from God” (with an army of cops, jocks, and white supremacists in tow) to reunite their blues band. With powerhouse musical numbers by Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Cab Calloway, and more in the classic blues dives of Chicago.
