About This Convention
The Boston SouthCoast Comic Con & Anime Fest is a family friendly entertainment event featuring all things that appeal to fans of Comics, Collectibles, Movies, Television, Video Games, Cosplay, Personal Experiences, Nerd, Geek, Anime and Pop Culture.

Our focus is on the family and fans who are young at heart. The costs we keep low so that we can pass the savings on to our customers, and we are the most affordable convention in New England at the present time.

Boston SouthCoast Comic Con & Anime Fest will include Celebrities signing autographs plus professional photo ops with the stars. But we will not bring in anyone who we don’t think will fit into our dynamic programming and keep things affordable for fans.

Artists include numerous comic book, fantasy, sci-fi, horror and cartoon creators. And we will encourage local creators who make their own comics, books, films, and other entertainments. Fan art will be limited, as we feel that creativity is more.

Live entertainment is featured all day with Music, Panels, Workshops, and Entertainers on the main stage. Free play to play video gaming on vintage and modern systems from GameUnderground, table top gaming, and anything else we can bring to the convention that will entertain fans and families alike.

About This Convention
Careers In The Creative Arts BSCCC Focus

The Boston SouthCoast Comic Con & Collectibles Extravaganza is more than just a comic book convention for fans to spend money, stand in line, dress up and pose or even meet a celebrity, artist or creator. Yes, we have ALL of that, and more.

The mission statement for all events produced by Northeast Comic Con & Collectibles Extravaganza producer Gary Sohmers, is to show the next generation where the careers are in the creative arts, by giving young people the opportunity to immerse themselves among other current and future professionals for shared knowledge in the numerous fields where job opportunities exist.

The number of careers available in the creative arts outnumbers many other categories of job creation and include art, film, television, gaming, publishing, costuming, special effects and writing along with creating and producing all of these jobs in the entertainment industries. Every ancillary aspect that drives consumer goods sales including advertising, media, marketing, sales, retail and internet are all industries dependent on creative thinkers and “artists” to allow them to succeed.

As part of the fun of learning, BSCCC will be offering numerous opportunities for all age groups to gain some insights, so families can learn and share the info gathered.

As far as celebrities go, it takes hard work and luck to be a “celebrity,” which any of them will tell you. But the career they chose as a young child actor like Micky Dolenz on the 1950s TV show “Circus Boy” and The Monkees in the 1960s, and Chasen Hampton who starred on the “All New Micky Mouse Club,” along with Mike Maronna and Danny Tamberelli of “Adventures of Pete & Pete” in the 1990s can give some direction and knowledge to young people thinking of pursuing careers in acting or music during one on one conversations with them or in the Panels or Q&A.  And Billy West’s career in radio, voice over work in animation and as the iconic voice of the Red M&M, shows that the path from silliness as a kid to respect in a career can be a strange one.

Great comic book artists working for Marvel, DC, Disney and independently, such as Joe St. Pierre, Steve Geiger, Joe Caramagna and others share advice, review portfolios and mentor budding young artists, writers and creators.

Other aspects of the creative arts include New Yorker and Mad Magazine humorous cartooning (Bob Eckstein), licensed merchandising and characterizations (Joey Mars) and animation and character design for The Simpsons (Phil Ortiz). Creator of the only all female animated musical group, Those American Girls, and of the Professor Panic and Scary Stories podcast, Peter Bernard, and many other authors and creators such as Will Murray, Brian Hall, MW Schwartz and others can offer some advice on starting a new concept from scratch and those challenges only learned from doing.

Jeff Kline has had a long career in television animation production having produced Transformers: Robots In Disguise, DragonTales, Jackie Chan Adventures and many other, and is currently publisher of Darby Pop with the only official Bruce Lee comic, and he will be offering to review young artists’ portfolios.

In costuming, the event features great Cosplay activities including our original Create-A-Hero, Create-A-Villain and Create-A-Character Costume Contests each day, where an original idea and costume is presented on stage for voting by the fans.  Its cosplay with an original backstory, and mash-ups are accepted.  Get your creative on, and maybe you can meet a writer and an artist and soon be involved in a new project.

Mike Lopez and the team from Kids Comic Con will be having drawing, writing and creative workshops all weekend for kids.  Emmy Award winning puppeteer Bill Diamond will be offering How-To Puppet workshops, along with fun and games in our Puppetland. Eric Bornstein will be making Masks including cosplay, parade and theatrical. All of these people are showing why there really are careers in the arts for dedicated people who want to do something passionately enough to learn it.

The schedule of activities is on the website www.SouthCoastComicCon.com, although many of the creative arts professionals will be at their tables for walk up conversations.

Show hours are Saturday July 22 from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm and Sunday July 23 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, with early bird entry for an additional fee at 9:30 am.  Box office opens at 9:00 am.

About This Convention
Dean Cain, well known for portraying Clark Kent & Superman on the TV show “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and currently appearing on Supergirl will be headlining the celebrity guest lineup at the Dec. 3 & 4, 2016 winter edition of the Northeast Comic Con & Collectibles Extravaganza at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington MA near Boston.

Dean and other celebrities will be attending Saturday and Sunday to meet fans, sign autographs, offer photo ops and Q&A panels. Tickets and Information is available at www.NEComicCon.Net

Immediately after graduation, Cain signed on as a free agent with the Buffalo Bills, but a knee injury during training camp ended his football career prematurely. In 1993, Cain took on his biggest role to date as Superman in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. At the height of its popularity, it would bring in an average of at least 15 million viewers per episode. In 1998, Cain started the Angry Dragon Entertainment production company, which produced the TBS Superstation television series Ripley’s Believe It or Not!. Cain made a return to the Superman franchise, with a special guest role in a season seven episode of Smallville as the immortal Dr. Curtis Knox, a character based upon the DC Comics villain Vandal Savage; and currently is in a recurring role of Supergirl, as the title character’s foster father, Jeremiah Danvers. Cain also appeared in the mid-season premiere of Comic Book Men, appearing at Kevin Smith‘s Secret Stash where the crew was celebrating 75 years of Superman, citing that Dean Cain helped people care about Superman again.

Billy West will be appearing to sign autographs, do photo ops and have fun with fans all weekend. Billy is best known for his voice actor work, but his career in radio and television that began in the 1980’s when he did comedic impersonations for Charles Laquidara‘s Big Mattress morning show on Boston’s WBCN FM radio network. By the mid-90s, he had moved to doing impersonations on The Howard Stern Show, giving him greater exposure. From there, West became involved with the Nickelodeon shows Doug and Ren & Stimpy. Portraying the title characters on both shows, Billy West saw his voiceover work reach an even larger, yet younger audience. This led to Warner Bros. hiring him for the film Space Jam in 1996. Featuring Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and the cast of Looney Tunes, West voiced Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd, two characters whom he has sporadically voiced throughout the next decade. He is also very well known for his portrayal of Philip J. Fry, Zapp Branigan, Professor Fanrsworth, Zoidberg and others on Futurama, which began in 1999 and has continued on through a number of changes through 2012 and currently airs on Comedy Central. In addition he is also the voice of the iconic Red M&M.

Also appearing will be actor Sean Gunn, who starred on “Gilmore Girls,” is the body double for Rocket Racoon in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and also appearing as Ravager Kraglin in Vol.1 and the upcoming Vol 2 GOTG, as Toby in “Super” and starring in the new James Gunn film “The Belko Experiment,” for autographs, photos and a Q&A on his career.

Candy Clark, actress in the classic “American Grafitti” and “The Man Who Fell To Earth” with David Bowie, among many other film and television roles, will also be signing autographs, offering photo ops, and a Q&A about her experiences working with David Bowie, Stephen Spielberg, George Lucas and others.

Special musical guest will be Cherie Currie, lead singer in the ground breaking all female punk rock band The Runaways, who also appeared in films including “Foxes” with Jodie Foster, an accomplished chainsaw carver, will be signing autographs, taking photos with fans, doing a Q&A panel and performing some Runaways songs at the After Party Concert Sat. Dec. 3rd in the Fez Room at the Shriners Auditorium along with The Lights Out, Charlie Farren, Tsunami of Sound and others

Other guests include Robert Bruce, Producer and Talent on “AMC’s Comic Book Men” with Kevin Smith, and well known collector and dealer of Japanese Animation and Vintage Toys, seeking characters to possibly appear on Comic Book Men. Also appearing will be Jeff Kline, Executive Producer of animated television series including “Transformers: Robots In Disguise,” “Jackie Chan Adventures,” “Dragon Tales” and “Godzilla,” currently writer and publisher at Darby Pop Comics, offering portfolio reviews, and both will educate on a panel on Careers in the Creative Arts for the Next Generation.

Some of the other pop culture guests include Gary Sohmers, known as the King of Pop Culture from his 13 seasons appearing as an appraiser on “Antiques Roadshow” and host of the talk radio program “Calling All Collectors,” Kadrolsha Ona, the Queen of the Paranormal, action figure and horror monster sculptor Lawrence Elig and Comic Book folks including Steve Lavigne (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Joe St. Pierre (Spider-Man), Alex Simmons (Archie) and Bill Anderson (X-Men) among others.

There will be a large and diverse range of collectibles, comics, toys, nerd crafts, art, literature, records, video games and accoutrements of popular culture from music, TV and film, covering from the mid 20th century to today’s most popular and hard to get items for the nerds, geeks and fans on your holiday shopping list.
