Saturday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m., the Hero Initiative is hosting a The LBCC Official Costume Party at the Rock Bottom Brewery, 1 Pine Avenue, Long Beach. Prizes will be awarded in different categories: best superhero, best villain, best IDW character, best BOOM! Character, most creative, best Zombie and more! It’s going to be incredible fun, and your $10 admission benefits the Hero Initiative. Admission ticket also gets you one free beer and helps out our great cause. Tickets will be sold at the Hero Initiative booth, #300 and at Rock Bottom Saturday evening.

In addition, premiering this weekend is Heroine, a scent created specifically for The Hero Initiative by Black Phoenix Alchemy Laboratory with label art is by the fabulous Adam Hughes! Proceeds from every bottle sold go to The Hero Initiative. We will be selling Heroine, as well as the Dawn, Witchblade, Sachs and Violens, and Unknown scents at the booth as Wicked Goddess herself from BPAL will be at the Hero booth Saturday and Sunday to help you with your scent needs. Heroine will be available for $25 at the booth and will be $26 when it goes live on the Black site in late November.

Also available is a limited edition exclusive print for Long Beach Comic Con by legendary artist Arthur Suydam. Prints will be available at our booth for $15 and you can get it signed by the artist himself all weekend in Artist Alley! (see attached)

In order to get one of his coveted creations, raffle tickets will be sold all day Friday and Saturday until 1 p.m. at $1 each. Three winners will then be selected who will then be able to purchase a Campbell sketch for $250. There is no limit on how many tickets you can purchase, but purchasers must be present at the Hero booth Saturday at 1:30 p.m. to redeem sketch. All proceeds will go to The Hero Initiative. Norwalk, CT, September 15, 2010: DC Comics has revealed some of the top guests who will be on hand to meet and greet fans at the annual New York Comic Con (NYCC) which will take place October 8 – 10, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. Acclaimed writer J. Michael Straczynski will join DC executive talent including co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee as well as superstar writer and Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns as Guests of Honor. Other all-star DC creators who will be participating in various panels and activities at NYCC include John Arcudi, Art Baltazar, Matthew Clark, Amanda Conner, Tony Daniel, Shane Davis, David Finch, Franco, Derek Fridolfs, Adam Hughes, JT Krul, Francis Manapul, Sean Murphy, Dustin Nguyen, Jimmy Palmiotti, Joe Prado, Ivan Reis, Nicola Scott, Peter Snejbjerg, Scott Snyder, Peter J. Tomasi and Freddie Williams II.

Officials at DC note that many of the panels featuring their creators will include announcements and other “behind-the-scenes” information about DC Comics, Vertigo and WildStorm comics and graphic novels. In addition, DC staff members will welcome thousands of fans to DC’s 3000 square foot booth centrally located on the convention floor which will feature talent signings, free giveaways and early peeks at the newest action figures, statues, busts and other amazing collectibles on display from DC Direct.

DAN DIDIO was named Co-Publisher of DC Comics with Jim Lee in February 2010. Prior to his new role, he served as the Senior VP-Executive Editor, DC Universe for DC Comics. Since 2003, he has spearheaded such bestselling titles as Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis, 52, and Final Crisis. Prior to joining DC, Dan worked in television for CBS and ABC public relations and program development. His writing can also be seen in The Outsiders.

JIM LEE is Co-Publisher of DC Comics. Prior to his current post, Lee served as Editorial Director, where he oversaw WildStorm Studios and was also the artist for many of DC Comics’ bestselling comic books and graphic novels, including ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER, BATMAN: HUSH, and SUPERMAN: FOR TOMORROW. He also serves as the Executive Creative Director for the DC Universe Online (DCUO) massively multiplayer action game from Sony Online Entertainment (SOE).

GEOFF JOHNS is the Chief Creative Officer for DC Entertainment as well as one of the most the most prolific and popular of contemporary comic book writers. He has written highly acclaimed stories starring Green Lantern, Superman, the Flash, Teen Titans, and the Justice Society of America, as well as the bestselling graphic novels BLACKEST NIGHT and INFINITE CRISIS. J. Comics Are “Heart and Soul” of Convention!

Norwalk, CT, July 9, 2010: New York Comic Con (NYCC) has today announced its first major round of comic guest appearances at this year’s show which will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, October 8 – 10, 2010. Convention officials note that while the final NYCC guest list will span the pop culture universe, including authors, writers, film actors and directors, by far the largest contingent of guest appearances will be from the world of comics. A few of the many guests who have been revealed in today’s announcement include: Adam Hughes, Steve McNiven, Steve Epting, Bob Layton and Greg Pak. Organizers note that Adam Hughes was also a guest at NYCC in 2008. Hughes has drawn for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, and many other companies, and he has also done work for Lucasfilm and Warner Bros. He is currently working on many projects, including a hardcover collection of his work for DC Comics.

In separate announcements, NYCC organizers have revealed that Stan Lee will be this year’s “Spotlight” Guest of Honor at New York Comic Con and John Romita and John Romita, Jr. will be appearing together as Keystone Guests of Honor at the show.

Image Comics announces its C2E2 2010 lineup

It’s hot in the Windy City of Chicago as Image Comics gets ready for the inaugural edition of C2E2 (Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo). It’ll only get hotter at the Image Comics booth, #651, when the show gets started Friday, April 16th!

Don’t miss RYAN OTTLEY (INVINCIBLE) and JASON HOWARD (THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN), who will be with us at the Image Comics booth, #651. You’ll also be able to find RICHARD STARKINGS (ELEPHANTMEN), and a slew of other Image creators will be stopping by for signings!

Hero Initiative’s MegaCon Schedule

Hero Initiative travels to MegaCon, the southeast’s largest comic book, science fiction/fantasy, anime, toys and gaming convention. The event takes place March 12-14 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. You can purchase tickets directly by clicking here!

First up, traveling along with us from Los Angeles is artist Joe Benitez, known for The Darkness, Batman, and Justice League of America! Stop by the booth and pick up an original sketch by Benitez. All proceeds benefit Hero Initiative.

Make sure you come back, because George Pérez, one of the most influential artists of all time, will be at the Hero booth. He’ll be sketching as well, and this is one you don’t want to pass up.

On Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., a special 11-man signing of Hero’s The Wolverine 100 Project will take place! Contributors Joe Benitez, Jim Calafiore, Mike Choi, Darwyn Cooke, Joe Jusko, Andy Smith, Bill Tucci, Mike McKone, Jimmy Palmiotti, Mike Perkins, and Brandon Peterson will be at the booth exclusively signing Hero’s recent release. Get them while they are available, and get them signed by our team!

And that’s not all! Florida resident and acclaimed writer Steve Perry will be visiting the Hero booth as well. Perry is best known as one of the original writers of the Thundercats and Silverhawks TV shows, and Timespirits comics. Perry was diagnosed with cancer in February, 2009, and being the single father of a 9-year-old son, he struggled to make ends meet while battling his severe illness. After being homeless, having no work, and living in his car with his son, Hero Initiative is proud to help Perry pull him through this difficult time. He wants to say “thanks” by stopping by. Lastly, Grandstand Sports & Memorabilia has generously donated approximately 40 items that will be available through a silent auction. Items include a Hugh Jackman autographed Wolverine 8×10 Photo, Johnny Depp autographed 8×10 Photo, Elijah Wood autographed Frodo 8×10 Photo, Robert Downey Jr. & Jeff Bridges Dual Signed Iron Man 8×10 Photo and a Spider-Man limited edition lithograph with actual film cel, to name a few. The items will be on display in the lobby and at the Hero booth. Part of the proceeds will go to Hero Initiative.
