Comments Off on Comic Market Solicits Questions
Many retailers are concerned that the “DC Explanation Tour 2011″ has too few stops to satisfy all of us. It’s a big change, happening very quickly, being met with lots of uncertainty. Happening even quicker is the “DC Explanation Tour 2011.” With many prime comic book retail regions being left out and only a few weeks to make proper plans many of us just won’t be able to attend.
This Tuesday, June 14, 2011, all retailers are urged to chime in to the #comicmarket Twitterstorm to share the questions they want to ask DC Comics.
“#comicmarket is the perfect place for everyone to be heard,” said Larry Doherty of Larry’s Comics and #comicmarket founder. “With so many retailers participating in #comicmarket, we will prompt important questions that have been over looked. It is certain that a number of #comicmarket participants will make the DC Tour meetings and ask those questions.”
Larry Marder posed some great questions early Sunday morning (search @larrymarder or #comicmarket to review his questions), focusing on the business aspect of the change, as opposed to the fan aspect. He said, “DC retail tour can’t be about content & teams. Sharp focus on marketing & biz detail needed. Not Superman’s lost panties.”
Please be a part of #comicmarket this Tuesday, June 14, 2011 and tell the Comic Market all the important questions you have for DC, and then join #comicmarket every Tuesday and help support #comicmarket!
“In fairness, I don’t believe the DC Tour was initially planned so they’ve had to scramble and have done the best they could to include as many retail regions as possible, covering as much ground as they can in a short period of time, while still being a part of the Summer convention circuit. While I regret that New England is not on the tour I understand that time is working against all of us and many areas could not be visited – just a side note that I think is important.” -Ralph DiBernando, owner of Jetpack Comics and #comicmarket founder.
About #COMICMARKET TUESDAY
Every Tuesday on Twitter you can find a Twitterstorm of retailers, publishers, creators, and fans using the #comicmarket hash tag. #comicmarket is a break through comic industry initiative to engage anyone with any interest in comics in real-time conversation. An open forum where anyone can discuss anything comic related. With nearly a few months under our belt every week has grown in the number of posts and contributors. It is a place to market, ask questions, listen to complaints, and offer solutions. In a very short amount of time #comicmarket has become a valuable tool for the comic industry.
Founded by Larry’s Comics, Jetpack Comics, and Avatar Press, #comicmarket is an open forum, unedited, un-moderated type of discussion the industry has needed for years. Every week you will find useful information and great interaction. Sometimes heated, often funny, and always informative #comicmarket can only help you if you participate. Chime in with your insights, ask questions, and help the #comicmarket grow, to help the comic market grow!

Everett Soares, Michael W. Kellar, and Keith Murphey sign their book across New England (and one in North Carolina).
Welcome to the World of Valendor, a bold new world where steam-powered ships sail across the sky and where you’ll find that the standard heroes come in any shape or form—even Pirate!
Life as one of the most notorious pirates in Valendor comes with its own set of ups and downs, and sometimes all Tobin Manheim wants is an easy job. His wish was granted when Governor Langford offered him one on a silver platter. Tobin saw an opportunity to make an easy coin and he pounced on it without question. However the costs became greater than the rewards. First cost – Tobin’s dignity. He has to work with his ex-wife. From there, things seem to go straight into the privy. Past accounts become due, parts of his ship explode and when things seem to brighten up, they only got worse. What happens though when Tobin reaches his limit and just wants the job to be over? Revenge!
For the next month, members of the Sky Pirates of Valendor crew will be traveling across the country promoting our solicitation in August Previews.
