Boston Comic Con welcomes IVY DOOMKITTY to our 2014 convention! A champion of cosplay, Ivy will be this year’s guest judge of the annual costume contest, currently scheduled to be held on Sunday August 10, 2014. Additionally, she will host a Cosplay 101 panel to answer questions for anyone interested in getting into the hobby and doesn’t know where to start. Ivy will also be on hand all weekend to sign autographs and take photos with her legions of fans. Plus some surprises to be announced in the coming months! Tell your friends!

About Ivy Doomkitty:
Ivy Doomkitty is an International Costume Designer/Cosplayer, Host, Artist, Gamer, and Figure Model for comic book artist/writer, Frank Cho, based in Los Angeles. Ivy has been attending conventions for many years, before deciding to take the plunge by showing her fandom through cosplay.

She now uses this new found passion to create her own costumes and use them to bring to life her favorite characters from gaming and comics as well as creating a positive impact in the cosplay community. She strives to show others in the community that you can do something you love, regardless of gender, skin color, sexual orientation, body shape/size, etc.

Ivy was recently the Featured Cosplayer on the Premier Episode of the webseries, “Cospladies”, a short documentary on the trials, tribulations, and love of cosplay. Ivy is also a member of the West Coast Avengers/Avengers Initiative, taking part in charity events in Southern California.

Ivy heavily promotes the art of Cosplay at every convention that she is a guest at, including participating in panels, judging the costume contest, and meeting many fans that are interested in starting in the craft. In the past, she has interviewed some incredible talent, including Stan Lee, Lou Ferrigno, Arthur Suydam, Michael Golden, and more. She has also written comic book reviews, in addition to presenting and hosting costume contests. MINNEAPOLIS, March 11, 2014 – William Shatner (“Star Trek,” “T.J. Hooker”), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings, Rudy), Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Manu Bennett (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Arrow), Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid, My Cousin Vinny), Gilbert Gottfried (Problem Child, Beverly Hills Cop II) and Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” “Stars Earn Stripes”) are among the celebrities scheduled to attend the inaugural Wizard World Minneapolis Comic Con, May 2-4 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.It is the 6th of 16 events scheduled in the 2014 series produced by Wizard World, Inc. (OTCBB: WIZD) and will also feature a top-drawer collection of well-known comics artists and writers and a variety of activities, exhibitors and special attractions.

Shatner will appear on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3; Astin will attend on Saturday and Sunday; the others are scheduled for all three days.

Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, cosplay, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Wizard World Sacramento Comic Con show hours are Friday, March 7, 3-8 p.m.; Saturday, March 8, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Archie Comics’ Dan Parent Comes to Boston Comic Con 2014

Archie Comics writer and artist DAN PARENT makes his first appearance at Boston Comic Con for this year’s show!  A graduate of the Kubert School, Dan began working for Archie immediately after graduation. One of the most popular and prolific creators on the Archie roster, Dan is best known for creating the Riverdale gang’s first openly gay character, Kevin Keller. He has also worked on notable storylines including Archie’s first interracial romance with Valerie (of the Pussycats), and guest appearances by Barack Obama, KISS, George Takei, and the cast of Glee.

LOUISVILLE, Ky., February 14, 2014Norman Reedus,Michael Rooker, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies and Scott Wilson of “The Walking Dead,” Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”), Summer Glau (Serenity, “Firefly”), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Rudy), and Robert Hays (Airplane!, Paranormal Movie) are among the celebrities scheduled to attend the inaugural Wizard World Louisville Comic Con, March 28-30 at the Kentucky International Convention Center.It is the fourth of 16 events currently scheduled in the 2014 series produced by Wizard World, Inc. (OTCBB: WIZD) and will also feature a top-drawer collection of well-known comics artists and writers and a variety of activities, exhibitors and special attractions.

Astin, Bernthal, Callies and Glau will appear on Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29; Smith will attend on Saturday only; the others are scheduled for all three days.

Other notables scheduled at press time include Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville,” “Justice League”), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory), James Marsters (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Torchwood”), Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” “Stars Earn Stripes”) and Jason David Frank (“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers”). Firefly’s Jewel Staite Comes to Boston Comic Con 2014

Boston Comic Con is excited to welcome JEWEL STAITE to our 2014 convention n August 8th – 10th! Jewel Staite is best known for playing Kaylee Frye, the cheerful ship’s mechanic, on Joss Whedon’s beloved space western series Firefly. Jewel made her feature film debut reprising the role in 2005′s Serenity. Since then she has gone on to portray Dr. Jennifer Keller on Syfy’s Stargate: Atlantis alongside fellow Boston Comic Con guest Jason Momoa. Jewel has also held roles on series including The Killing, State of Syn, Animism, The L.A. Complex, and Space Cases. Furthermore she has made appearances on several genre shows like Supernatural, The X-Files, and Warehouse 13.

Boston Comic Con has announced its initial details for next year’s convention! Following the phenomenal success of the 2013 show, the 2014 convention will again be held in August at the Seaport World Trade Center on Boston’s historic waterfront. The promoters have added an additional day to the convention which is scheduled to run Friday August 8th till Sunday August 10th. Joining the festivities this year is an all-star list of comic creators including: Rafael Albuquerque, Tim Bradstreet, Amanda Conner, Mike Kunkel, Jorge Molina, Dustin Nguyen, Jimmy Palmiotti, Carlos Pacheco, Ramón Pérez, Esad Ribic, Gail Simone, Cat Staggs, and many more!
