Anime Boston 2018 Welcomes Composer Kaoru Wada

Composer Kaoru Wada appears at Anime Boston at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA on March 30 through April 1, 2018. Kaoru Wada is a Japanese music composer, music arranger, conductor, music orchestrator, and pianist. He has worked in a wide range of musical fields, including anime, film, television, theater, and video games.  He has received numerous prizes for his work, including his music on the film Crest of Betrayal.

Best known in the west for his work on Inuyasha and Samurai 7, he has also composed music for a number of other anime series, including Ghost Stories, Battle Angel, Princess Tutu, Saint Seiya, Ninja Scroll, D.Gray-man, Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, and Ace Attorney.  In addition to his work as a composer, Wada-san also arranges music for several notable titles, including Kingdom Hearts I & II and Monster Hunter 4G.

“Boston is a music city, and we continue our tradition of presenting musical composers. Music sets the tone for any dramatic or comedic presentation, and few do it better than Wada-san!” said Victor Lee, Convention Chairman.

Anime Boston 2018 is his first North American convention appearance.

Yomiuri TV Producer Michihiko Suwa Appears at Anime Boston 2018

Producer Michihiko Suwa will be appearing at Anime Boston at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA, on March 30 through April 1, 2018.

Yomiuri TV Producer Michihiko Suwa is a fixture of the anime industry and has been for over thirty-five years. Best known to western audiences for his work on Inuyasha, his main project is the mystery series Detective Conan (Case Closed), which is currently in its 23rd season and still going strong. The newest movie, ZERO THE ENFORCER, will be released in Japan on April 13th.

“Producers set the tone and personality of any anime title, and few have a credits list as long as Michihiko Suwa. I can’t wait to hear what it takes to take an anime program from conception to our televisions screens!” said Victor Lee, Convention Chairman.

Suwa-san has also planned and produced a number of other series, including Lupin III, Magic Knight Rayearth, Black Jack, Angel Heart, Kekkaishi, (The) File of Young Kindaichi, YAWARA!, and City Hunter. An engaging and knowledgeable speaker, Suwa-san enjoys interacting and engaging with his audience, as well as sharing stories about how the anime we love to watch gets made.

Hideyuki Tomioka & Katsuyuki Sumizawa Appear at Anime Boston 2018

Anime Boston, the largest anime convention in New England, announced its third round of Japanese guests of honor today.  Senior Managing Director of SUNRISE Inc. Hideyuki Tomioka and Screenwriter Katsuyuki Sumizawa will be appearing at Anime Boston at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Mass, on March 30 through April 1, 2018.

Hideyuki Tomioka joined SUNRISE to help with the production of Fang of the Sun Dougram as a part-timer.

He was the producer for many popular shows, including Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, After War Gundam X, INUYASHA, and STEAMBOY.

“We are extremely pleased to host Hideyuki Tomioka at Anime Boston. His credits include some of my personal favorites, such as Inuyasha, Turn A Gundam, and Steamboy,” said Victor Lee, Convention Chairman.  “However, for Anime Boston, his most important credit may be Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, since our first convention, in 2003, featured the English voice actors of all five Gundam pilots!”

Katsuyuki Sumizawa is an anime screenwriter and novelist. He has worked on various shows, including Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Macross 7, Inuyasha, and Naruto.  He also penned the novel Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Frozen Teardrop.

Victor Lee added, “Katsuyuki Sumizawa has written scripts for some of the top titles over the last 20 years, including Dragonball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Inuyasha, Macross 7, Naruto and, of course, Sailor Moon. His writing has influenced how we see anime in the West. Getting the opportunity to ask about the creative process is always a treat!”
