CA – A Life in Parts Signing

Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Power Rangers, All the Way, Trumbo) presents and signs A Life in Parts at All Saints Church on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 7:00 PM. Tickets available at the link…

Bryan Cranston began his acting career at the age of seven, when his father, a struggling actor and sometime director, cast him in a commercial for United Way. By fifth grade he was starring in the school play, spending hours at the local movie theater, and re-enacting favorite scenes with his brother in their living room. Cranston seemed destined to be an actor. But then his father left. And his family fell apart. Troubled by his father’s missteps, Cranston abandoned his acting aspirations and resolved to pursue a steadier career in law enforcement. Then, on a two-year cross-country motorcycle journey, Cranston re-discovered his talent for acting and found his mission and his calling.

MA – The Discovery Screening

Director/Co-writer Charlie McDowell and actor Jason Segel appear in person for a Q&A after a screening of THE DISCOVERY on Tuesday March 21st at 7:30 PM.

What would you do if there was proof of an afterlife? The answer to this question is rivetingly explored in THE DISCOVERY, where world-renowned physicist Doctor Thomas Harber (Robert Redford) is able to scientifically prove the existence of an afterlife—but with dire consequences. His estranged son, Will (Jason Segel), tries to confront the situation by returning to the New England–esque island where he grew up. He crosses paths with Isla (Rooney Mara), who’s returning to the island for mysterious reasons of her own. The tale unfolds over the ensuing days as the regret of past choices forces these lost characters to reflect on how they’ve gotten to where they are.

Director/co-writer Charlie McDowell (THE ONE I LOVE) returns with another metaphysical thriller that uses a fascinating premise as a launching point to explore complex issues in a deftly absorbing fashion. Enlisting a world-class cast who use their unique qualities to infuse humor and humanity, THE DISCOVERY plays to both the head and the heart.

MA – An Afternoon w/ Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston (All the Way, Breaking Bad) appears in discussion with WGBH’s Jared Bowen about his new book A Life in Parts on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM. The discussion will last approximately one hour and 30 minutes. The price of admission will include a copy of A Life in Parts. Tickets are available at the link…

A poignant, intimate, funny, inspiring memoir—both a coming-of-age story and a meditation on creativity, devotion, and craft—from Bryan Cranston, beloved and acclaimed star of one of history’s most successful TV shows, Breaking Bad. Bryan Cranston landed his first role at seven, when his father cast him in a United Way commercial. Acting was clearly the boy’s destiny, until one day his father disappeared. Destiny suddenly took a backseat to survival.

Now, in his riveting memoir, Cranston maps his zigzag journey from abandoned son to beloved star by recalling the many odd parts he’s played in real life—paperboy, farmhand, security guard, dating consultant, murder suspect, dock loader, lover, husband, father. Discussing his life as few men do, describing his art as few actors can, Cranston has much to say about creativity, devotion, and craft, as well as innate talent and its challenges and benefits and proper maintenance. But ultimately A Life in Parts is a story about the joy, the necessity, and the transformative power of simple hard work.
