About Thomas Cardone

A gifted painter and draughtsman, Thomas Cardone has been working in animation and special effects for more than twenty years. Before art directing Rio, Horton Hears a Who!, and Ice Age: The Meltdown for Blue Sky Studios, he created imagery for many other films, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Prince and the Pauper, Pocahontas, Hercules, and The Emperor’s New Grove, among many others. Cardone is also an outstanding plein air painter who creates luminous artworks inspired by the waterfront of eastern Long Island.

The evening talk is presented as part of the Museum’s “Blue Sky & Beyond” summer program series, that celebrates the art of visual storytelling and the contributions of noted American illustrators and filmmakers. These visionaries combine artistry and technology to create compelling new realities.

A reception with the artist will follow the program. Free for members, or with Museum admission.
