NC – Hellboy vs Vampires

Scott Hampton signs on Saturday, February 12, from 1pm until 3pm, as Hell comes to Chapel Hill Comics!

Chapel Hill Comics is proud to announce a signing event featuring local artist Scott Hampton, the artist of the new two-issue Hellboy series, Hellboy: The Sleeping and the Dead, published by Dark Horse Comics. We will have stock on hand of both issues of the series, including separate covers of issue #1 by Scott Hampton and series creator Mike Mignola.

For the first time, Hellboy: The Sleeping and the Dead pits Hellboy against vampires! The comics are priced at $3.50 each, so you will be able to pick up the full story for seven bucks, and have it signed by the artist! That’s a Hell (ahem) of a great deal!

Scott Hampton has a very impressive résumé. His professional comics work was the three-page story “Victims” published in Vampirella #101 in 1981. He has illustrated the adventures of iconic characters such as Batman, Sandman, and Black Widow, has adapted his favorite Ghost stories into fully painted comics (Spookhouse, published by IDW), and even illustrated the story of Genesis in The Bible: Eden. He won the Harvey Award (The Special Award for Excellence in Presentation) for Batman: Night Cries. Now he’s drawn a new Hellboy series, and it looks fantastic.

Come on out, meet an incredibly talented, locally-based artist, and pick up a fun, spooky story featuring one of indie comics’ most iconic characters!

MA – The Fall Signing

GUILLERMO DEL TORO and CHUCK HOGAN discuss The Fall: Book Two of the Strain Trilogy on Sept 23rd.

Harvard Book Store is excited to welcome acclaimed director GUILLERMO DEL TORO and award-winning thriller writer CHUCK HOGAN as they discuss The Fall, the second installment in their Strain Trilogy. The pair will be interviewed by the Brattle Theatre′s own creative director, Ned Hinkle.

The vampiric virus unleashed in The Strain has taken over New York City. It is spreading across the country and soon, the world. Amid the chaos, Eph Goodweather, head of the CDC′s team and one of a small group who have banded together to fight the bloodthirsty monsters that roam the streets, finally manages to identify the parasite that causes the infection. But it may be too late.

Ignited by the Master′s horrific plan, a war erupts between Old and New World Vampires, each side vying for control of the planet. As the virus continues to plague the land, humans find themselves caught in the middle of the conflict.

At the same time, the battle finds its way inside Eph′s own home: his ex-wife, Kelly, who was turned by the Master, has her sights fixed on Zack, Eph′s son.

With the future of the world in the balance, Eph and his team of fighters must use all their skills and Holocaust survivor and former professor Abraham Setrakian′s intimate knowledge of the enemy to combat a terror whose ultimate plan is more terrible than the humans at first imagined—a fate worse than annihilation.

UK – The Fall Signing

Forbidden Planet regrets to announce that Guillermo Del Toro has had to cancel his visit to the UK and his appearance with us will not go ahead on 6th October.

Both Forbidden Planet and Harper Collins are doing everything possible to ensure that pre-orders made through the Forbidden Planet website for signed stock will be fulfilled.

We apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause. We will update our web page with more information as we have it.

Guillermo del Toro signs his new novel The Fall at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Wednesday 6th October 6 – 7pm.

In this fantastic sequel to The Strain, humans have been displaced at the top of the food chain, and now understand what it is to be not the consumer, but the consumed. Ephraim Goodweather, director of the New York office of the Centers for Disease control, is one of the few humans who understands what is really happening. Vampires have arrived in New York City, and their condition is contagious. If they cannot be contained, the entire world is at risk of infection. As the Biblical origins of the Ancient ones are gradually revealed, Eph learns that there is a greater, more terrible plan in store for the human race – worse even than annihilation…

Guillermo del Toro came to prominence with cult horror movies such as Chronos and The Devil’s Backbone and made his Hollywood directorial debut with the classic Blade II.  Rapidly followed by the box office and critical hit Hellboy and the Oscar-winning Pan’s Labyrinth, del Toro has established himself as one of the leading directors in the genre.

Forbidden Planet is the largest store of its kind in the world. Some of the biggest names in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comics and Cult Entertainment have come to our London Megastore for signing events, including: Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Terry Gilliam, Simon Pegg, William Gibson, Mark Millar, Brian Froud and Stephen King.
