Amulet Creator Kazu Kibuishi Comes to Baltimore Comic-Con 2017

Kazu Kibuishi, creator of the Amulet graphic novel series and the cover artist for the anniversary edition of Harry Potter, comes to Baltimore Comic-Con as part of Kids Love Comics.

New York Times bestseller Kazu Kibuishi’s magical graphic novels have taken the book world by storm, and now that magic is coming to the Baltimore Comic-Con September 22-24! Mr. Kibuishi will be on hand all weekend (Booth #3013 in the Kids Love Comics Area) to meet his fans, sign his books, and share his process in creating graphic novels. Copies of Mr. Kibuishi’s books will be available for purchase if anyone forgets to bring a copy to have signed!

Ask any class of kids across America about the graphic novel series Amulet, and you will probably hear an excited description of adventure, kid heroes, and amazing creatures, all said with a big smile. Featuring magic, elves, robots, demons, and anthropomorphic animals, Amulet has become a bright light for reluctant readers and excited book lovers alike.

Kibuishi will be giving FREE talks on his process of creating comics on Saturday at the Baltimore Comic-Con, as part of the perennial convention’s Kids Love Comics educational and entertainment initiative.

“Baltimore Comic-Con is not only a wonderful comic convention,” said John Gallagher, Kids Love Comics Executive Director, “it’s an incredible, family-friendly event. Ben Hatke discusses the fantastic conclusion to his Mighty Jack graphic novels, Mighty Jack and the Goblin King with Kazu Kibuishi—the writer and artist of the thrilling Amulet graphic novel series—at this awesome author-illustrator event.

Ben Hatke is the author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling Zita the Spacegirl trilogy, the picture books Julia’s House for Lost Creatures and Nobody Likes a Goblin, and the graphic novels Little Robot and Mighty Jack. Baltimore Comic-Con 2017 Kids Love Comics Pavilion Announces Guests

Family fun returns to the 2017 Baltimore Comic-Con this September 22-24 at the Baltimore Convention Center in the beautiful Inner Harbor. The Baltimore Comic-Con presents the Kids Love Comics Pavilion, where kids and parents can venture towards comics fun with the biggest and best kids section at any comic convention – so big, you might need a road map! For 2017, the Kids Love Comics Pavilion welcomes #1 New York Times best-selling author Kazu Kibuishi, whose Amulet graphic novels have been read by millions across the US and beyond. Kibuishi was also chosen as cover illustrator for new editions of the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling.

There will be something for every member of your family at this year’s KLC area in Baltimore, as attendees walk through four kid-friendly “avenues,” featuring some of the best kids and young adult comic creators, as well as a fun-filled comics activity area to rev up the imagination. Families will also enjoy the Kids Love Comics Workshop, where hourly presentations will be given in character creation, drawing imaginary creatures, making comics, and young sidekicks can even attend and graduate from “Super Hero University!”

Grant Gustin Makes First-Ever Comic Con Appearance at SVCC 2017

Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC), Steve Wozniak’s pop culture and technology expo, has announced that Grant Gustin, star of the hit television series “The Flash,”and Tom Felton, Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter films and supervillain Doctor Alchemy on “The Flash,” have been added to the show’s guest lineup. This marks Grant’s first ever appearance at any Comic Con. Fans will get a chance to meet Grant and Tom for photos, autographs and a special Q&A session. The second annual SVCC will be hosted at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, CA the weekend of April 21-23.

As  Barry Allen / The Flash in the CW network television hit series “The Flash,” Grant has also appeared in crossover episodes with “Arrow,” “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” Grant is also known for his role as Sebastian Smythe on the FOX network television series “Glee” and for playing Campbell Price on “90210” (CW TV show). This month, he will join former “Glee” castmates Melissa Benoist and Darren Criss for a special musical crossover of “The Flash” and “Supergirl.”

Best known as Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter films, Tom Felton left the magical world to go on to star in “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” “Belle,” “The Disappeared, “Night Wolf,” “The Apparition,” “In Secret” and more. He is now a series regular on “The Flash,” where he plays Julian Dorn, a CSI at the Central City Police Department with suspicions about Barry Allen – otherwise known as Doctor Alchemy, the acolyte of speed god Savitar, this season’s super villains.

Grant will appear Sunday, April 23. Tom will be at SVCC on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22. They will appear on-stage together for a fan Q&A on Sunday.

Grant and Tom join an already star-studded lineup of high-profile guests at SVCC 2017, including recently announced guests John Cusack of “Being John Malkovich,” “High Fidelity” and “Sixteen Candles;” Gina Torres of “Suits” and “Firefly;” and Billy Boyd, who played Peregrin “Pippin” Took in Peter Jackson’s epic film trilogy “The Lord of the Rings.” Additional guest highlights who were previously announced include:

Kazu Kibuishi is the writer and artist of the New York Times Bestselling AMULET graphic novel series, published by Scholastic.
