‘Leatherface’ to Serve Chili at Coast City Comicon
PORTLAND, MAINE – 9/11/13 – Coast City Comics is proud to announce that actor Gunnar Hansen will be appearing at this year’s Coast City Comicon on November 8-10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton. Fans of the horror genre know Hansen’s alter ego, the intimidating Leatherface from the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” franchise. Hansen also appeared in the film “Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers” with fellow Coast City Comicon guest Linnea Quigley.
As part of Hansen’s appearance — he’ll be signing autographs and posing for photos with fans all weekend — he has generously agreed to host a chili cook-off during the convention. Fans will not only be able to have their chili judged by Hansen, who happens to be an aficionado of the dish, but they will be able to taste chili prepared by the man behind the mask.
Following a screening of “Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers,” fans can participate in a Q&A session with Gunnar Hansen and co-star Linnea Quigley. Hansen will also be selling copies of his latest book, “Chain Saw Confidential.”
“We’re tired of the conventions that just plop movie stars behind a table and just have them sign stuff,” explains Jarrett Melendez, organizer of Coast City Comicon. “We like being able to provide a more intimate experience for fans. They won’t just get herded through a line and shoved away before they can manage a quick ‘Hello'; they can actually take a minute and talk with idols like Gunnar. Heck, they can even taste food that he made! You don’t get that at national shows like New York Comic Con or San Diego Comic Con.”
Coast City Comicon 2013 will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel across from the Maine Mall this November 9 and 10. Attendees can pre-register for tickets online at coastcitycomicon.com. Adult passes start at $25. Passes for children and students will be available at the door with prices starting at $10. For more information, visit coasticitycomicon.com or call 207-899-1505.
