GARDEN STATE COMIC FEST ANNOUNCES CONTESTS, PRIZES AND PANELS

Hulkbuster cosplayThe Garden State Comic Fest will be giving away (as contest prizes) a year of tickets to other great Comic Cons!   Promoter, Sal Zurzolo says, “In addition to traditional cash prizes we are giving away something much more VALUABLE and you can you get one of these much sought after items the old fashioned way, by earning it when you win one of contests.”

“We know our fans love to attend conventions and to show our appreciation to the fans we added convention tickets to GS Comic Fest 2017 and a ‘Conventions for a Year Prize Package!’  The Garden State Cosplay Showdown costume contest Best in Show winner will receive tickets for 8 other northeast conventions and $500 to cover their tickets to any other shows they choose,” said Dave O’Hare, the show’s founder. Dave added, “Those with a talent for drawing can enter the Drawing Contest which will be judged by some of our very own guest artists.”

“If you can’t draw a stick figure, then our attendees can put their knowledge of superheroes to good use by entering the Superhero Trivia Contest and prove that their intellect is superior to all challengers,” said Sal.

“The GSCF Garden State Cosplay Showdown costume contest has 2 divisions, a kids contest for children under 16 and an adult division for those 16 and up,” Dave said.

In addition, Sal said, “We are thrilled to announce several panels including the Extreme Costumes, Thomas DePetrillo’s “How to Make Giant Cosplay (like the Hulkbuster)” and Vincent Zurzolo, who’s Metropolis Collectibles owns the most expensive comic in the world at $3.2 Million, on the “20 Gotcha’s on Buying Comics & Comic Book Art in 60 Minutes,’ and many more.”

4th GARDEN STATE COMIC FEST TICKETS ON SALE IN LOCAL STORES

Tickets to Jersey’s top rated comic convention, the Garden State Comic Fest, are now available online at GardenStateComicFest.com and in the following local area stores: Zapp! Comics, Dewey’s Comic City, Fat Moose Comics & Games and East Side Mags. The event will be on Saturday & Sunday, July 9th & 10th at the William G. Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, NJ.

The event will feature top-flight comic vendors, cosplayers, and creators like Kevin Eastman (Teenage Mutant Ninja co-creator), Legend Jim Steranko (Nick Fury Agents of Shield, Captain America, X-Men), Greg Hildebrandt (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Magic the Gathering), Rags Morales (Superman, Batman, Turok), Diana Leto, (My Little Pony), Alex Saviuk (Spider-Man, Superman), Jan Duursema (Star Wars), and Walt Simonson (Thor, and Fantastic Four) and writers like Larry Hama (GI Joe, Wolverine) and Joe Caramagna (Guardians of the Galaxy).  Morris County’s’ Dave O’Hare and Sal Zurzolo, have teamed up to bring an affordable fun comic con book to North Jersey.

“We are bringing back more of the top comic book dealers in the world, led by Metropolis Collectibles, owners of the $3.2 Million first Superman comic book and Dave’s American Comics,” O’Hare said.

The world famous Kubert School, a comic art school in Dover, NJ, will have its own space featuring the legendary artists of tomorrow. We will also have over 300 tables of the country’s best stores and vendors selling some sensational and affordable comic books, toys, artwork and pop culture collectibles.  Not only that, we will have the Liberty Science Center presenting fun and interactive demonstrations on how Superhero and Sci-Fi gadgets work,” O’Hare said.

“Of course, you can buy comics at GSCF,” Zurzolo said, “but you can sell comics too. Forget the stock market; diversify your portfolio by investing in valuable collectibles.  Youngsters can take a light saber fighting class or a drawing class.  Aspiring artists can get advice from our published professionals. Get lucky and win a door prize or enter and win the Cosplay Contest dressed as your favorite comic book character. You can also enter the art or trivia contest.

We will hold our 4th Garden State Cosplay Showdown, a costume contest for cosplayers (costume player) from all over the country, and we will have a special treat for cosplay fans with world renowned robotics cosplay specialist Thomas DePetrillo as the 9 foot tall HULKBUSTER.  He will be joined by several national cosplay groups and other professional cosplayers who will be on hand to greet and take photos with attendees.”

The Garden State Comic Fest will be giving away (as contest prizes) tickets to this fall’s New York Comic Con! Promoter, Sal Zurzolo says, “In addition to traditional cash prizes we are giving away something much more VALUABLE and you can you get one of these much sought after items the old fashioned way, by earning it when you win one of four contests.”

“We heard about how quickly the NYCC tickets sold and wanted to show some appreciation to our fans so in addition to winning them in a contest, we will be giving away as door prizes 2 NYCC Passes.” added Dave O’Hare, the show’s founder.

Dave said, “Those with a talent for drawing, can enter the Art Contest which will be judged by some of our very own guest artists.”

UPCOMING GARDEN STATE COMIC FEST DOUBLES IN SIZE TO FEATURE COMIC NOTABLES

Featuring many top flight comic creators, vendors and cosplayers like Greg Hildebrandt (Star Wars, Magic the Gathering), Neal Adams (Batman, X-Men), Amy Chu (Wonder Woman) Alex Saviuk (Spider-Man, Superman), Ethan Van Sciver (The Flash, New X-Men), and Joe Staton (Green Lantern, Justice Society of America) and writers like Larry Hama (GI Joe, Wolverine) and Erica Schultz (Revenge, M3). The Garden State Comic Fest will be holding what promises to be New Jersey’s best Summer comic book convention from Saturday, July 25th to Sunday, July 26th at the William G. Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, New Jersey.

“We also have some of the top comic book dealers in the world like Metropolis Collectibles, owners of the $3.2 Million first appearance of Superman comic book, and Dave’s American Comics, as well as Jersey stores like Zapp! Comics, Fat Moose and East Side Mags,” said promoter and founder Dave O’Hare.

“At its heart the GS Comic Fest is going to be a good old fashioned comic book convention that’s fun, fan friendly and affordable. We will have new and rare comics, art, toys and other collectibles,” O’Hare said.

“We decided to move locations to the Mennen Sports Arena, increasing our size to almost 25,000 square feet and over 200 tables and booths,” said Sal Zurzolo, O’Hare’s co-owner/promoter. “That along with the switch from one to two days allows us to bring in more A-plus exhibitors.”

“At The Garden State Comic Fest you can diversify your portfolio by investing in valuable collectibles,” O’Hare noted. “Wannabe artists can get advice from our published professionals. Individuals can sell their comics, get lucky and win a door prize or enter and win over a thousand dollars in prizes in the costume contest, art contest, and trivia contests.”

About This Convention
Garden State Comic Fest will be held on January 26th 2014 at the Quality Inn and Junction 46 Restaurant in Ledgewood NJ. There will be 45 to 50 tables of great comics, art, toys and more. There will be some Great artists on hand doing sketches, signing autographs and showing off some of their awesome work. Its going to be a great time, fun for the whole family and something cool to do in the middle of winter. I hope you will come out and join us.
