Two lucky Omeganauts will walk away from PAX East with tickets, airfare and hotel accommodations for GAMESCOM, plus $2,500 in spending cash for each member of the winning team.  In a new twist, competitors will be randomly assigned a teammate for the competition.

“We’ve done some team matches in past Omegathons, but in the final rounds it has always been one-on-one affairs.  We really wanted to do something different for PAX East and hardcore team competitions got everyone excited,” said Robert Khoo of Penny Arcade.  “Will you roll a 1 or a 20 when your partner is assigned? Only Fate knows.”
A total of 32 Omeganauts — 16 teams of 2 competitors — will be randomly drawn from the audience at the keynote speech by Wil Wheaton on Friday.  Attendees must fill out and drop off the entry card found in the show bags at the beginning of the keynote to be eligible.

The PAX East Omegathon bracket will consist of:

Round 1: Mario Kart: Double Dash
Round 2: Geometry Wars 2
The Semi-Finals: A Rhythm Game
The Final Round: A Mystery!

The 3-day passes are completely sold out.  A few single day passes remain.  Registration info can be found at the website.

GAMESCOM is the world’s largest video game event with more than 200,000 people attending every year from 31 countries.  The show takes place in Germany during the month of August.
