One of the greatest animation studios celebrates its 10 year anniversary! This October, Gallery Nucleus is honored to present brand new and unique tribute artwork inspired by Coraline, Paranorman, The Boxtrolls, and Kubo & the Two Strings. With production puppets and art also on display, this will be a must see event for all fans of the craft of animation and LAIKA studios.

CA – Gravity Falls Exhibition

In celebration of the release of Journal #3 and the closing of the Gravity Falls series, creator Alex Hirsch along with other production staff and professional illustrators will be contributing new and original artwork to this official Gravity Falls exhibition / book signing at Gallery Nucleus. Alex Hirsch will be in attendance on opening night on August 6, 2016 only. The art exhibition will be up from August 6 – August 21, 2016.

OPENING NIGHT
Cosplay is highly encouraged! Open to the Public, All Ages Welcome, No RSVP needed.

ADMISSION
$5 entrance fee at the door.
This is expected to be a HIGHLY attended event, so please plan accordingly!

OPENING RECEPTION HIGHLIGHTS
-Exclusive door prizes and raffle giveaways will be available to attendees only.
-First 100 people in line will be able to get in early and get their book signed by Alex. NO SAVING SPACES FOR FRIENDS, NO EXCEPTIONS! IF you are not physically there at the time we start counting, you will NOT be included as part of the first 100. In order to receive a bracelet for the signing, the first 100 people must EITHER purchase their Gravity Falls merchandise in our store OR if you bring an outside book for signing, it will be subject to a $10 fee.

Calling all comic book fans! Gallery Nucleus celebrates FIRST SECOND BOOKS’ 10TH ANNIVERSARY! Come join us for a group signing with their talented authors of Tune: Still Life, In Real Life, and newest publication Odd Ducks. Get a one-on-one meet and greet with the artists, as they sign their books and chat with fans. Signing starts from 2:00 pm and ends at 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Featured artists:
Derek Kirk Kim
Award-winning author and filmmaker behind “Same Difference,” “Mythomania,” “Good As Lily”(with Jesse Hamm), and “The Eternal Smile”(with Gene Luen Yang.) He has also contributed stories and artwork to numerous anthologies including “Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall,” “Flight, Volume 1,” and “Bizarro World.”

Jen Wang
A cartoonist and illustrator currently living in Los Angeles. Her works have appeared in the Adventure Time comics and LA Magazine. She recently illustrated Tom Angleberger’s Fake Mustache. Her graphic novel Koko Be Good was published by First Second. In Real Life is her second book.

Cecil Castellucci
Worked on books that include Boy Proof (Candlewick, 2005), The Plain Janes (Minx/DC Comics, 2007), The Year of the Beasts (Roaring Brook, 2012), and Tin Star (a 2015 Sunburst Award Winner). She collaborated with artist Sara Varon on Odd Duck, a graphic novel for young readers. She is the YA editor of the Los Angeles Review of Books and a two-time Macdowell Fellow. She lives in Los Angeles.

CA – Bug Zoo Signing

Press Release:

Disney artist Andy Harkness will be signing his new Disney Artist Series Showcase book Bug Zoo. It is a beautifully illustrated children’s book filled with mixed media utilized to create the world of bugs! Gallery Nucleus will also be featuring original artwork tied to the book by Andy! He will be there to sign and meet with fans, come join us at Saturday June 18th, 2016 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.

Ben loves bugs: armored, teeny, leggy, greenie, floaty, wingy, jumpy, springy bugs! After a trip to the city zoo, Ben collects all of the bugs he can find and sets up a bug zoo. He couldn’t be happier–but what about his bugs?

About the artist:
Andy Harkness is an art director for the Walt Disney Animation Studios. He’s worked on such films as Pocahontas, Mulan, Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear, Tangled, and Frozen. He’s art directed short films such as “The Ballad of Nessie” and “Mickey Mouse’s Get a Horse!” He’s been nominated for three Annie Awards and won both an Annie and an Emmy Award for art directing ABC’s “Prep and Landing.” He lives with his wife and two sons in Manhattan Beach, California, and still hunts bugs at least twice a week.
