NYC – Back Issue #103 Signing

Press Release:

Forbidden Planet is excited to host Catherine Schuller-Gruenwald, wife of the late Mark Gruenwald, Senior Executive Editor of Marvel Comics (1978-1996), on Saturday, March 24th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM as she signs “The Editor’s Issue” of Back Issue Magazine.

Catherine is the keeper of the flame and put together an intense article that demonstrates the Gru’s contribution to the comic industry and how there will never be another editor quite like him again. Passionate, thorough and driven, Mark was the editor’s editor and truly cared about contributing significantly to the profession he loved so much. His untimely passing only makes us appreciate his legendary status and miss his truly remarkable accomplishments even more.

There are a limited number of Back Issues available that day, so reserve yours and come meet Catherine and she’ll sign it!

Can’t make it to the event? No problem! Forbidden Planet has you covered, jus pre-order your copy today and we’ll get it signed for you and mail it out that following Monday!

Also available are 20 tribute posters ($20 complete with seal and limited edition number and Catherine’s signature) that were created by Marvel to commemorate the 20th year anniversary of his leap into the other realm. “That whole “till death do us part” promise in the standard wedding vows doesn’t really hold true when it comes to Mark,” quips Catherine. Not only did she have to execute his final wishes when his will stated that he be cremated and his ashes stirred into a comic book, but the spirit of the man lives on. Another treat will be the unveiling of the commissioned work that Catherine had created by painter David Banegas for the auction to raise money for the Mark Gruenwald Scholarship for the Arts at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.
