UK – Ready Player One Signing

ecline-armadarpo

ERNEST CLINE will be signing READY PLAYER ONE and ARMADA at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore on Sunday 21st August from 2:00 – 3:00 PM.

It’s the year 2044, and the real world has become an ugly place.

Like most of humanity, Wade Watts escapes this depressing reality by spending his waking hours jacked into the OASIS, a sprawling virtual utopia where you can be anything you want to be, where you can live and play and fall in love on any of ten thousand planets. And like most of humanity, Wade is obsessed by the ultimate lottery ticket that lies concealed within this alternate reality: OASIS founder James Halliday, who dies with no heir, has promised that control of the OASIS – and his massive fortune – will go to the person who can solve the riddles he has left scattered throughout his creation.

For years, millions have struggled fruitlessly to attain this prize, knowing only that the riddles are based in the culture of the late twentieth century. And then Wade stumbles onto the key to the first puzzle.

Suddenly, he finds himself pitted against thousands of competitors in a desperate race to claim the ultimate prize, a chase that soon takes on terrifying real-world dimensions – and that will leave both Wade and his world profoundly changed

ERNEST CLINE is best known for creating the cult film Fanboys, about a group of Star Wars fans on a pilgrimage to George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch. His work has been covered in numerous national publications and all over the internet. He is the author of Ready Player One and Armada. A film adaption of Ready Player One, directed by Steven Spielberg, is currently in production.

UK – Four Kids Walk Into A Bank Signing

000000000000-4-kids-walk-into-bank

Writer Matthew Rosenberg will be signing copies of his current comic titles, Four Kids Walk Into A Bank and Civil War II: Kingpin, on Wednesday 17th August at 6:00pm at Forbidden Planet’s London Megastore.

Four Kids Walk Into A Bank: Eleven-year-old Paige and her weirdo friends have a problem: a gang of ex-cons need her dad’s help on a heist… the problem is those ex-cons are morons. If Paige wants to keep her dad out of trouble, she’s going to have to pull off the heist herself.

Civil War II: Kingpin: An Inhuman with the ability to predict the future has helped the heroes of the Marvel Universe clamp down on crime before it can even happen. While this thwarts most criminals, one man has found a way to keep doing what he does best. Wilson Fisk has managed to stay one step ahead of the good guys and his crime enterprise is BOOMING. But what’s his secret?

Matthew Rosenberg was born and raised in New York City. The son, nephew, and brother of writers, he naturally spent the first 10 years of his professional life trying to avoid the same fate as them. After years of directing music videos, managing a print shop, touring the world managing bands, working at a comic shop, and co-owning a small indie record label, the fates have finally left him two choices; write comics professionally or starve to death trying. Armed only with his freakish knowledge of all things comic book and a complete lack of desire to do anything else, Matthew now finds himself a comic writer.

UK – Briggs Land #1 Signing

000000000000000-Briggs-landMACK CHATER will be signing BRIGGS LAND #1 at Forbidden Planet Newcastle on Saturday 20th August from 1 – 2pm.

In development for an AMC TV show!

Briggs Land, nearly a hundred square miles of rural wilderness, contains the largest anti-government secessionist movement in the United States. When matriarch Grace Briggs wrests control of the operation from her incarcerated husband, she sparks a war within the community-and her immediate family-that threatens to bring the full power of the federal government down on their heads.

Mack Chater has always been into art, especially concept art, FX and comic book art. He loves working in a team, the creative buzz of working with other, like-minded people. Mack is the illustrator of SIX, from master author George Pelecanos, and has done sequential work for ASHES, EARP: SAINTS FOR SINNERS, THE FUSE, and SMOKE/ASHES.

UK – Small Gods Signing

000000000000000-Small-Gods

Ray Friesen will be signing Small Gods: The Discworld Graphic Novel at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore on Saturday 6th August from 4 – 5pm.

‘Just because you can’t explain it, doesn’t mean it’s a miracle.’

In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was: ‘Hey, you!’ This is the Discworld, after all, and religion is a controversial business. Everyone has their own opinion, and indeed their own gods, of every shape and size, and all elbowing for space at the top. In such a competitive environment, it’s certainly not helpful to be reduced to
appearing in the form of a tortoise, a manifestation far below god-like status in anyone’s book.

In such instances, you need an acolyte, and fast: for the Great God Om, Brutha the novice is the Chosen One – or at least the only One available. He wants peace and justice and brotherly love. He also wants the Inquisition to stop torturing him now, please…

The bestselling novel by Terry Pratchett now adapted into graphic novel form with new artwork by Ray Friesen.

Ray Friesen, like Sir Terry, has facial hair and a penchant for hats, although he claims that this is a coincidence. Ray was nominated for the Ignatz Award for Most Promising New Talent during his first year of cartooning professionally.

UK – The Legends of River Song Signing

00000000-RiverSongPress Release:

STEVE LYONS and ANDY LANE will be signing DOCTOR WHO: THE LEGENDS OF RIVER SONG at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore on Saturday 11th June from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.

‘Hello sweetie!’

With those words, the indomitable River Song crashed into the Doctor’s life, and has stayed there ever since. Archaeologist, time-traveller, thief, and murderer, River Song has had more adventures (and got into much more trouble) than most other people in the universe. And she’s written a lot of it down. Well, when you’re (possibly) married to a Time Lord, it’s important to keep track of what you’ve done and when. Especially as it may not have happened to both of you yet. Sometimes she’s with the Doctor, and sometimes she’s on her own. But wherever and whenever she may be, she’s never far from danger… and excitement!

Steve Lyons has written nearly twenty novels, several audio dramas and many short stories, starring characters from the X-Men and Spider-Man to the Tomorrow People and Sapphire & Steel. He has also co-written a number of books about TV shows, including Cunning: The Blackadder Programme Guide and the bestselling Red Dwarf Programme Guide. His previous Doctor Who work includes the novels Conundrum, The Witch Hunters and The Crooked World, audio dramas The Fires of Vulcan and Colditz, and work for the official Doctor Who Magazine.

Andrew Lane has written more than 30 books in various genres – fiction and non-fiction, adult and Young Adult, crime and science fiction. Most recently he has been responsible for the internationally successful Young Sherlock Holmes series of novels, while the first book in his new Crusoe series will be published this year. His first novel was a licensed Doctor Who book – the Seventh Doctor novel Lucifer Rising – and he also writes Doctor Who audio dramas for Big Finish Productions.
