Miami, FL - Florida Supercon held its eighth annual event this past July 4-7, 2013 in Miami FL. which hosted record attendance of over 25,800 unique individual attendees. Based on the overwhelming growth the show has experienced in recent years, Florida Supercon has announced the Miami Beach Convention Center as its new home starting in 2014. Comic Book industry legends John Romita Sr. and John Romita Jr. are the first Guests of Honor announced for the 2014 event.  The show will feature a “Tribute to the Romitas” in honor of their amazing contributions to the comic book industry. Florida Supercon will take place July 3-6, 2014.

Florida Supercon is South Florida’s Largest Comic Book, Anime, Animation, Video Game, Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Pop Culture Convention. The 2013 event spanned four days, and took place at the Miami Airport Convention Center. The show featured over 350 guests, as well as hundreds of exhibitors, artists and vendors in over 175,000 sq. feet of convention space. Approx. 25,800 attendees flocked to Miami to celebrate their fandom. Following the event, the convention organizers met with multiple venues to find a larger home for the show before signing with the Miami Beach Convention Center for July 3-6, 2014, and beyond. The Miami Beach Convention Center is located in the heart of South Beach and boasts over 1,000,000 square feet of flexible space, including; over 500,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, over 100,000 sq. ft. of versatile pre-function area space and 70 meeting rooms comprised of 127,000 sq. ft.

Florida Supercon will be using approx. 500,000+ sq, feet of space (half of the convention center) including Halls C & D for the 2014 event. The Miami Beach Convention Center spans four city blocks of palm tree lined streets and is located in the heart of the electrifying and historic South Beach/Art Deco District of Miami Beach. The Miami Beach Convention Center is a meeting, convention, tradeshow and consumer show paradise, located next to white sandy beaches, warm ocean waters, terrific shopping, award winning restaurants, cool cafes and exciting nightlife. Legendary Comic Book artists John Romita Sr. and John Romita Jr. are the first Guests of Honor to be announced for Florida Supercon 2014. The event will feature a “Tribute to the Romita’s” in honor of their amazing careers. With a career spanning over 60 years in comic books,

John Romita Sr. is one of the true giants of the industry. He is best known as the seminal artist of The Amazing Spider-Man along with his body of work with Marvel Comics in the Golden, Silver and Bronze Age of Comic Books. Romita created and co-created characters such as the Rhino, the Vulture, Mary Jane Watson, the Punisher, Kingpin, Wolverine and many many more.

John Romita Jr. is a modern-day comic-art master, following in his legendary father’s footsteps; timeless runs on Iron Man, Uncanny X-Men, Amazing Spider-Man and Daredevil helped establish him as his own force artistically, and his work on Wolverine and World War Hulk is arguably the most explosive comic art of the last decade. In addition to Eternals with writer Neil Gaiman, JRJR teamed with Mark Millar on the creator-owned Kick-Ass, later developed into a blockbuster feature film. Avid Spider-Man fans rejoiced at the artist’s return to Amazing Spider-Man with the Brand New Day storylines “New Ways To Die” and “Character Assassination”. Later JRJR joined writer Brian Michael Bendis on the relaunched Avengers. He most recently joined writer Rick Remender on Captain America and writer Mark Millar on the further adventures of Kick-Ass.

Florida SuperCon moves to Bigger Venue for 2014 Show!

Florida SuperCon Miami Convention Center

FLORIDA SUPERCON is excited to announce that we will be moving to the MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER for our 2014 event! That’s right… Supercon is heading to South Beach!!!!!

We’ve experienced enormous growth this year, with over 25,800 unique attendees and as much as we hate to leave the MACC, which has been our home since 2009, it is time to move into a larger facility with more floor space and parking. We would like to thank everyone who has been supportive of the show over the past eight years, and we hope this move will allow us to continue to grow into one of the premiere geek events in the United States.

Florida Supercon 2014 will take place July 3-6, 2014 at The Miami Beach Convention Center. We will be taking up Hall’s C and D (approx. 264,000 sq feet), as well as the Flamingo and Palm Ballrooms (over 41,000 sq. feet) and 23 break out / panel rooms upstairs (approx. 30,000 sq. feet). All told, including hallway function space we will be using almost 400,000 sq. feet of space! This will make us one of the largest comic cons in the country and allow us to bring in more exhibitors, artists, publishers, guests and events.

We will be posting information on hotels, directions, parking and more in the next few weeks. We hope you can take this journey with us, and we promise to put on the best show we possibly can. A sincere thanks to the over 25,800 individuals who came out to Supercon this year. You have made this possible!

One piece of information we can announce… We are beyond thrilled to announce our first guests of honor for 2014. Legendary Comic Book Artists John Romita Sr. and John Romita Jr. together at Florida Supercon for a very special TRIBUTE TO THE ROMITA’S!

The Big Social Picture: The Oscar protest that you didn’t know happenedIf you watched the Academy Awards tonight, you may have noticed an awkward music cut-off during the Life of Pi Visual Effects acceptance speech. It may have looked like they were just stopping a long running speech, but in truth the speaker was about to mention a hot button topic of the evening, and many people think it was cut short intentionally to hide the truth.
