Farel Dalrymple and Joseph Bergin III sign at Floating World Comics on Thursday, October 4th, from 6:00-10:00pm for a Prophet #29 release party and art exhibit!

The new Prophet series by Brandon Graham has been one of the most exciting comics in the past year. The epic sci-fi series highlights Brandon’s cosmos-building concepts as well as artwork from a team of awesome artists including Simon Roy, Giannis Milonogiannis, Farel Dalrymple, and Brandon Graham himself. October 4th, we will display original artwork from the latest issue, Prophet #29 and celebrate the book release with artist, Farel Dalrymple and colorist, Joseph Bergin III.

BIO INFORMATION:

Farel Dalrymple – Originally from Oklahoma “by way of California”, Dalrymple is one of the founders of the New York City based Meathaus Colllective.  He attended New York’s School of Visual Arts as an Illustration major and was awarded the Society of Illustrators Gold Medal in 2002.

Best known for his work on Pop Gun War, Prophet, and Omega the Unknown, Farel also contributed to DC’s alt-anthology Bizarro World, Strange Tales, Marvel Comics’ new alt comics anthology, and Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman.

Farel’s new comic It Will All Hurt is updated regularly on the Study Group Comics website. He is currently working on a new original graphic novel called The Wrenchies, which will be published by First Second books.

We have an exciting, eclectic group of comic creators who will be doing signings with us. Most of them will be here 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but a few will be arriving later.

Portland Comic Book Show to Feature Over 30 Creators at the November 13, 2011 Show

The Portland Comic Book show will feature an inking demonstration by Gary Martin, author of The Art of Comic-Book Inking. Gary Martin’s two volumes of The Art of Comic-Book Inking have become the industry-standard manuals for aspiring inkers seeking to take their work to the next level or for working professionals looking to broaden their skills base. Dark Horse Comics recently published a new edition of the ground breaking book, combining the two textbooks into a single volume and with expanded new material, including three additional blue-lined art boards featuring pencil art by master comics illustrators Jack Kirby, John Buscema, and Gil Kane.

Anina Bennett, co-creator of Heartbreakers and Boilerplate, will moderate a panel discussion “How to Break Into Comics as a Writer” Writers on the panel discussion include Kurt Busiek (Astro City), Dan Berman (God Complex), Adam Gallardo (Gear School), Brandon Jerwa (Battlestar Galactica) and Jamie S. Rich (Spellcheckers).

Star Wars Imperial Costume Clubs will be out in full force at the Portland Comic Book Show on November 13th. Featuring movie accurate costumes, Cloud City Garrison “the Villians” will feature Stormtroopers & Darth Vader. Kashyyyk Base features “the Rebels” including Jedi Knights, Pilots, Princesses, and Wookies. Mandalorian Mercs are “the bounty hunters” from Star Wars. Star Wars fans should bring their cameras as all 3 Costuming clubs will be available for pictures!

The Portland Comic Book Show is Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Rose Quarter at the Memorial Coliseum in the Exhibit Hall. The show runs from 10am to 5pm. Admission is $8.00 for ages 8 & older. The show features 175 tables of merchandise displaying and selling thousands of collectibles including comic books dating back to the 1940’s, non-sport cards, magazines, original art, Movie and TV Memorabilia, Star Trek and Star Wars merchandise, action figures, Disney items, and a variety of toys.
