MARK BUCKINGHAM signs Fables Vol 17: INHERIT THE WIND, (Titan Books) at the Forbidden Planet Bristol Megastore on Saturday 27th October from 1 – 2pm.
The tights and capes have been stored away forever. Where do the Fables go from here? Bigby and Snow White’s cubs try to move forward after learning a hard lesson about life and death. And the loveable hero Bufkin the Flying Monkey gets into more trouble when he finally reaches his homeland of Oz.
Mark Buckingham is most famous for his work on Marvelman, Hellblazer, and Fables, including a story in the original graphic novel 1001 Nights of Snowfall. His Marvel work includes inking Chris Bachalo’s pencils on Generation X, Ghost Rider 2099, and penciling Paul Jenkins’s run on Peter Parker: Spider-Man. For DC Comics, Buckingham has inked the two Death miniseries and was the original penciller on the Titans series.

Mark Buckingham Joins the British Invasion at Baltimore Comic-Con 2012

The Baltimore Comic-Con is happy to announce the addition of Mark Buckingham to the “British Invasion” taking place at this year’s show, which will be held on September 8-9, 2012 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Buckingham joins already-announced British creators Brian Bolland and Barry Kitson for the 13th annual show.Buckingham, who is best-known and most-celebrated for his work on the long-running Vertigo title Fables, began his career in 1990 working with Neil Gaiman on Miracleman from Eclipse Comics. Working on such titles as 2000 AD, Hellblazer, and Shade, the Changing Man, he became a mainstay at DC Comics after taking over art duties on Fables with issue #6.
His run on the popular imprint title has earned him four Eisner Awards, including Best New Series in 2003, Best Serialized Story in 2005 and 2006, and Best Artist/Penciler/Inker in 2007.
“We are delighted to be adding another amazing artist from across the pond in Mark Buckingham,” said Marc Nathan, show promoter for the Baltimore Comic-Con. “His influence on the landscape of American comics has helped propel Fables to one of longest-running and most popular titles in Vertigo’s library.”

Bill Willingham, Matt Sturges, and Daryl Gregory sign on Friday, June 17th from 3 – 7pm!
Famed writer Bill Willingham, creator of the much-lauded FABLES comic series for Vertigo, is visiting town on a writing retreat and Austin Books & Comics is extremely fortunate to have this exclusive opportunity for FABLES fans to meet Bill in person!
FABLES has won 14 Eisner awards to date, and continues to be considered one of the best comic books ever produced. The FABLES video game is currently in development, while ABC TV is developing a pilot.
Willingham has Austin roots as a former resident, plus had early works published by Lone Star Press and Clockwork Storybook, an Austin writer’s collective that he co-founded.

James Jean’s first solo show in Los Angeles opens at Martha Otero Gallery on March 12th, 2011, from 6-9pm. The show will feature major paintings completed this past year and a special wall installation: the textures, color, and scale of the work is meant to be appreciated in an intimate setting, while strange narratives play out in giant triptychs, tondos, and ziggurats.
