Exhibitors come from all over the Eastern United States, and almost half of them will be selling Golden Age comics from the 1940′s and 1950s! Do you have some old comics? Michael Golden Print Exclusive at Wizard World Chicago

Exclusives Abound at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con! And for the first time EVER, Michael Golden’s artwork will be featured as part of the VIP Package for the premiere upcoming pop-culture event!

During his career, Golden has been an editor at DC Comics as well as senior art director at Marvel Comics, and has worked on numerous movie production projects, including some currently in development. Our favorite demon turned mortal – Anya is coming!
Actress Emma Caulfield will be at Phoenix Comicon, Sunday, May 30th 2010.

PHOENIX, AZ MAY 18TH 2010: Actress Emma Caulfield will be appearing at Phoenix Comicon later this month, joining editor Christian Beranek for a talk about Emma’s Contropussy webcomic and then speaking at a Q&A session where the floor will be open for questions about all of her work. Emma Caufield is best known for her role as Anya, on the critically acclaimed hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

“I absolutely loved her in Buffy,” said Jared Arthur, Phoenix Comicon’s Operations Director.

After spending time on TV, Emma landed the starring role as “Caitlin Green” in the Revolution Studios thriller Darkness Falls. Caulfield then went on to produce and star in the film Bandwagon. Some of Caulfield’s other work includes numerous television movies and the short film Hollow, an official selection in over 30 festival. She won the best actress award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and the Sydney International Film Festival (A Night of Horrors). Most recently Caulfield starred in the romantic comedy/sci-fi hybrid film Timer. Emma has also re-teamed with Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) recurring on her new television series Gigantic.

“Emma is great, so many fans will be very excited she’s coming!” said Convention Center Director Matt Solberg.

Eureka! We’ve Got Him!

Eureka co-creator Jaime Paglia will be at Phoenix Comicon over Memorial Day Weekend

PHOENIX, AZ MAY 19TH: Eureka co-creator Jaime Paglia will join Kevin Grazier, John Scalzi (consultants for Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, and Stargate Universe) and science fiction movie consultant Seth Shostak to discuss science fiction in TV & Film. Jaime Paglia will also talk about his hit series, Eureka. The series has become a science fiction centerpiece hit for the SyFy channel and will air its 4th season in July. The Green Lantern and The Flash and A Keyboard, Oh My!

Ethan Van Scriver talks about life, theories and plans at Phoenix Comicon

MAY 5th 2010, PHOENIX, AZ: Ethan Van Sciver will be back at Phoenix Comicon this May for numerous events, discussing his life, music, and of course comic books! Van Sciver is an American comic book artist, best known for illustrating a number of titles including Green Lantern, Superman/Batman, New X-Men, and currently, The Flash: Rebirth. His work is noted for its consistently detailed rendering.

“This guy does it all!” Said Anabel Martinez, Director of Marketing for Phoenix Comicon.

Many of Van Sciver’s most notable works have been produced in collaboration with writer Geoff Johns on the superhero-horror one-shot The Flash: Iron Heights. In 2008, Van Sciver was the guest artist on an issue of Justice League of America(#20). Van Sciver has also done the six-issue mini-series The Flash: Rebirth, and variant covers for the Green Lantern and DC Comics event, The Blackest Night.

It’s the Mastermind of Sci-Fi Himself!
Michael A. Stackpole shares his wisdom at Phoenix Comicon

Phoenix, AZ May 12th 2010: New York Times Bestselling author Michael A. Stackpole will be at Phoenix Comicon, to describe digital publishing and writing. The spotlight will also be on Stackpole when he presents his three week program on preparing future writers on writing novels. Of course, Michael Stackpole will also discuss Star Wars, Star Trek, and other fictional universes he has written in. Specific days of Michael A. Michael A. Stackpole is a science fiction and fantasy author best known for his Star Wars ( Several from the Star Wars: X-wing series and two from The New Jedi Order series) and Battletech books. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1979 with a BA in History. He sold his first gaming project to Flying Buffalo Inc. in 1977, and then headed for Arizona.

Stackpole’s Writing Workshop, “21 Days to a Novel,” is a three week program for preparing future writers to write a novel. This set of 21 exercises is broken down to give everything from character creation to world building, practical plotting devices, dialogue development and character voice creation tools. Additional cost is $20.

Heroes Con Welcomes New Guests & Old Friends

Press Release: Heroes Convention is preparing for one of the LARGEST Guest Lists in it’s 28 year history this June 4-6!  Pack your bags and gas up the car, because this will be one of our greatest shows of all time!  Making their First Appearance at Heroes Con this year are J. Scott Campbell, Brian Bolland, Humberto Ramos, Jimmy Cheung, and Rob Liefeld!  They’ll be joining the Heroes Con Family of regular All-Stars like Adam Hughes, Tony Harris, Frank Cho, Brandon Peterson, Mark Brooks, Tommy Lee Edwards, Phil Noto, Cully Hamner, and tons more!!

Long-time favorites like Ron Garney, Rick Leonardi, and Michael Golden are returning, as well as West Coast heavy-hitters like Mike Mignola, Tim Sale, Dustin Nguyen, Eric Canete, and Sean “Cheeks” Galloway.  It’s insane!!  Now we just have to figure out where to put everybody!  One thing is for sure, this all points to a stellar Art Auction on Saturday night!!

Also in 2010, Indie Island is stronger than ever with Jill Thompson, Evan Dorkin, Scott Morse, Jim Mahfood, and Kate Beaton onboard!  Like in previous years, there will be lots of exclusive artwork for Indie Island and always the coolest t-shirts!  In addition to the new wave of Indie folks, we’ll also host some of the all-time greats of the Independent Creators like James O’Barr, David Mack, Brian Pulido, and Joseph Michael Linsner!  It’s a powerhouse lineup this year!!
And, yes, even with EVERY artist in the comics industry in attendance (nearly!), we also get to have some of the most awesome writers in the world at Heroes Con, like Bill Willingham, Mark Waid, Christos Gage, Steve Niles, Jeff Parker, and the legendary Roy Thomas!
One thing we always try to do is to bring in the Artists and Writers that we get the most requests for, and this year we’re REALLY excited to have lined up several of the MOST requested of all time!  In addition to Campbell, Bolland, and Willingham, we can also confirm Kevin Maguire is finally making his first appearance at Heroes Con!  Joining Kevin in making their much-desired first appearance is Ben Templesmith, Todd Nauck, and Talent Caldwell!  It’s great to have these guys at Heroes Con!
As always, we could stage a major Battle Royal between all the Heavy Hitters from DC and Marvel at the show!  This year, from Marvel Comics we have Steve Epting, Mike McKone, Tom Raney, Mike Choi, and Skrappy Skottie Young!  From DC Comics, we have the Ever-Lovin’ Ethan Van Sciver, Mark Bagley, Billy Tucci, and Stephane Roux!  Lucky for us, if a Pier-Six Brawl should break out, we’ll have grappler Mick Foley in the house to keep things under control!  Mick (better known to some as Cactus Jack or Mankind) will be here on Saturday to make a big announcement at the 12 Gauge Comics booth!

PHILADELPHIA, May 4, 2010 — Philadelphia Comic Con, part of North America’s largest pop-culture touring expo, will return to the “City of Brotherly Love” for the 10th straight year with a three-day run at Philadelphia Convention Center, Friday through Sunday, June 11-13, 2010. Philadelphia Comic Con will bring together thousands of fans of all ages and more than 150 celebrities and industry professionals to celebrate the best in pop culture movies, comics, toys, video gaming, television, anime, manga, horror, sports, original art, collectibles, contests, movie screenings, and more.

Event-goers may also try their hand interactive product exhibits by trend-setting brands such as Ford (displaying a new vehicle), THQ (showing a video game) and TBS (screening a new television program); shop for collectible comics, movie and television memorabilia, toys and games at more than 400 dealer booths; and experience the show’s Horror Pavilion dedicated to writers, artists, musicians, and actors well known in that genre.

Sanctioned Tabletop Gaming Tournaments for Warhammer & Warhammer 40k and Trading Card Gaming Tournaments for YuGiOh, Pokemon, World of Warcraft & Magic the Gathering will take place throughout the weekend offering casual and competitive players the opportunity to win valuable prizes and increase their rankings. Additionally, event- goers are invited to bring their own short films to the expo, and enter the NYC Horror Film Festival’s Killer Short Sudden Death Competition. Winners will be inducted into the NYC Horror Film Festival program later this year.

Philadelphia Comic Con is the third stop on Wizard’s nine-city 2010 North American tour. Doors open Fri., June 11 from noon – 8 p.m. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., and hours on Sunday are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (all times Eastern).
