Carrie Fisher Cancels Emerald City Comicon 2013 Appearance

Carrie Fisher

Via ECCC

Unfortunately, Carrie Fisher has canceled her scheduled appearance at ECCC.

Apparently, she had a medical incident last week, on the 22nd. Here’s is the statement we received from her management this morning:

“Ms. Fisher had a medical incident and she’s doing much better, but doctors don’t want her working for about a month.”

If Carrie Fisher was the ONLY reason you were coming to ECCC (seriously?! :), we’re making an exception to our 30-day refund policy and you may request a refund for the next 24 hours through Eventbrite (through 12:30pm on Wednesday the 27th) and those tickets will then go back out to the general public for purchase.

Her panel for Saturday at 6pm is now being replaced with a Walking Dead panel featuring both Michael “Merle” Rooker and Danai “Michonne” Gurira.

Amazing Arizona Comic Con Swag And Cosplay – Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and RumorsAmazing Arizona Comic Con just ended this past weekend and what a ride it was for this moderate size convention. I had a total blast talking with independent artists and writers, as well as mainstream. As most know, Stan Lee was unable to attend the convention but the convention staff that was there, along with the DC team, helped fill that gaps.
A little bit more on the con that snubbed the coloristYesterday’s kerfuffle concerned a convention that wouldn’t name a colorist as a guest. Although a smallish type kerfuffle, it did lead to a day of praising hard working colorists on Twitter, so good came of it. Jordie Bellaire and Matt Wilson, the colorists in question, didn’t name the con that committed the deed.

Wil Wheaton Returns to Emerald City Comicon in 2013, Making it 6 Consecutive Years

Wil Wheaton

Press Release:

Hollywood actor to get his “game on”; rolls dice on Seattle for sixth year in a row!

Pop culture icon and gamer Wil Wheaton comes back for more at Emerald City Comicon 2013!

Seattle, WA – Actor, author and geek Wil Wheaton (Star Trek The Next Generation, Stand By Me) is the nineteenth special celebrity guest announced for the upcoming Emerald City Comicon taking place on March 1st – 3rd, 2013 at the Washington State Convention Center. He will be appearing all three days!

Wil Wheaton is one of the most recognized and well-respected performers of his generation. As a child actor, he found voiceover work in the Don Bluth animated classic The Secret of NIMH as “Martin the Mouse.” After guest appearances on such television hits as Highway to Heaven and St. Elsewhere, Wheaton landed his big break in Rob Reiner’s beloved film Stand By Me as “Gordie.” He went on to even greater fame as “Wesley Crusher” in the classic Star Trek The Next Generation, a role that spanned several seasons as well as a cameo in the theatrical film Star Trek Nemesis.

Doing what few child actors are able to accomplish, Wheaton parlayed his talents into another aspect of the entertainment industry by returning to voiceover work, only this time for video games. Credits include the Grand Theft Auto and Ghost Recon series, EverQuest II and as “Robin” in DC Universe Online. Animated television series work includes Teen Titans as “Aqualad”, Ben 10: Alien Force and Batman: The Brave and The Bold. In recent years, he has also returned to the small screen on such favorites as Eureka, Leverage, the web-series The Guild and even as himself in CBS’ hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

Wheaton also managed to reinvent himself for a whole new generation of fans as a geek icon, having one of the largest followings on the internet with his own geek weblog that he has run and maintained for years. He has also gained fame as an author, having released several books including “Dancing Barefoot” and “Just A Geek.”

2013 will mark Wheaton’s 6th consecutive year as a guest at Emerald City Comicon.

Joining Wheaton at ECCC 2013 will be  previously announced guests  Sir Patrick Stewart (“Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek The Next Generation, “Dr. Charles Xavier” from the X-Men films), Billy Dee Williams (“Lando Calrissian” from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), Walter Koenig (“Chekov” from classic Star Trek), Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), Paul McGillion (Stargate Atlantis), Michael Shanks (Saving Hope, Stargate SG-1), Kristin Bauer (“Pam” from HBO’s True Blood), Gillian Anderson (“Agent Scully” from The X-Files), Chandler Riggs (“Carl Grimes” on AMC’s The Walking Dead), Adam West and Burt Ward (TV’s classic “Batman” and “Robin”), Dirk Benedict (“Faceman” from The A-Team, “Starbuck” from Battlestar Galactica), Danai Gurira (“Michonne” from The Walking Dead), Chris Sarandon (“Prince Humperdinck” from The Princess Bride), Carrie Fisher (“Princess Leia” from Star Wars), Lexa Doig (Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda, Continuum, Jason X), and Felicia Day (The Guild, Eureka). Great Scott! Emerald City Comicon 2013 Adds Christopher Lloyd

Doc Brown

Press Release:

Great scott! Doc Brown corrects time paradox; goes back to Comicon…..for the first time!

Actor Christopher Lloyd finally heads to Seattle for ECCC 2013!

Seattle, WA – Film and television legend Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, Taxi, Who Framed Roger Rabbit) is the eighteenth special celebrity guest announced for the upcoming Emerald City Comicon taking place on March 1st – 3rd, 2013 at the Washington State Convention Center. He will be appearing all three days!

Christopher Lloyd is one of the most vesatile actors in the industry. After all, how many people can claim to have been a reverend that drives a taxi, flown over the cuckoo’s nest, illuminated light bulbs in their mouth, erased cartoon characters from existence, journeyed across the Eighth Dimension, ridden alongside The Lone Ranger, traveled through time in a DeLorean and battled Captain Kirk to the death?

A Connecticut native, Lloyd began his acting career at age 14 doing summer stock before moving to New York and performing on Broadway. He would be in his 30s before he landed his first movie role in the Academy Award-winning 1970 film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Jack Nicholson. In 1978, he made a guest appearance on the popular sitcom Taxi as the zany “Reverend Jim Ignatowski.” His character became such a hit with viewers that he quickly became a regular on the series, for which he won an Emmy in 1982.

But it is perhaps Lloyd’s role as “Doctor Emmett Brown” in the 1985 sleeper hit Back to the Future that made him a household name. The film about a whacky scientist that makes a time machine out of DeLorean became a mainstream smash and yielded two sequels, an animated series, a video game and even a ride at Universal Studios. Fans of Star Trek will certainly know him for his turn as the merciless Klingon Commander “Kruge” in Star Trek 3 The Search for Spock, where he fought hand-to-hand combat with “Captain James T. Kirk.”

Throughout the 80s and 90s, Lloyd appeared in a number of cult films that still support a large following including Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eigth Dimenson, The Legend of the Lone Ranger, Man on the Moon (the Andy Kaufman docudrama where he played himself) and the comedy Clue.
