Aaron Allston signs on Aug 29th

Aaron Allston signs on Aug 29th

Dragon’s Lair is turning 23 this weekend, and we want to celebrate with our loyal customers and fans – and anyone else who wants to come in! We’ve got all kinds of games and events planned, including cake at noon on Saturday, a charity bake sale on Sunday and a Pokemon Party on Sunday!

Even though this is our birthday, we wanted the chance to give something to someone else – a long time Dragon’s Lair supporter and customer, who has done pro bono film and press work for us and who has been a staunch supporter of the comics, gaming and geek industry throughout his professional career.

Very recently, bestselling author and long-time Dragon’s Lair Customer, Aaron Allston (best known for his Star Wars novels) fell victim to a heart attack while on tour for his latest book, Star Wars: Outcast. After a lengthy hospital stay, Aaron is back hard at work on his next novel (with a quick stop at San Diego Comic Con).

Aaron is also a long-time game designer and has been contributing to the Dungeons & Dragons universe for a long time, introducing the kit system to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons with the Fighter’s Handbook. He’s written supplements for the Champions and Car Wars game worlds and has been contributing to the Star Wars Expanded Universe since X-Wing #5 Wraith Squadron. He has written several pivotal novels in the New Jedi Order and Legacy of the Force series and is one of the most recognizable names in Star Wars fandom.

Outside the Star Wars universe, Aaron has written many novels of his own, including the phenomenal urban fantasy series Doc Sidhe.

Aaron is a native Texan, quintessential geek and has lived in Austin for more than 20 years. He has four housemates and two cats (and no, none of them got any say in the matter).

Very recently, Aaron fell victim to a heart attack while on his latest book tour and is recovering from a lengthy hospital stay and is facing an even longer convalescence – and he needs our help!

A portion of the proceeds from our Anniversay weekend will go to the Aaron Allston Donation Fund! There will also be numerous opportunities to donate throughout the weekend.

Not only that, but Aaron will be signing copies of Star Wars: Outcast and some of his other novels between 1PM – 4PM on Saturday August 29, 2009! Don’t miss your chance to meet one of the most well-known Star Wars writers!

Anyone interested in donating can send checks or money orders made out to the Aaron Allston Donation Fund:
