The Boston Comic Con announces its panel schedule for the 2012 convention! Fans will have the opportunity to see some of the brightest stars in comic book history between the rare reunion of MAD artists to the youngest new talents from the pages of Womanthology. This year’s line up of talent is certainly one that is not to be missed! In addition Boston Comic Con hosts several Geek Week Events including stand up comedians, a film festival, a costume contest, and much, much more! Silver Age legend Joe Sinnott’s inks have embellished the pages of innumerable titles including Thor, Silver Surfer, Captain America, and The Avengers. Kevin Eastman is best known as the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a comic book phenomenon which was founded in Northampton, MA! For the past twenty years Eastman has owned, edited, and published the magazine Heavy Metal. Boston Comic Con is thrilled to bring this comic book icon back to the Bay State!
Eric Canete is an illustrator and designer working in the animation and comic book industries. As an animator he has worked on shows including Aeon Flux, Exo Squad, and X-Men. He has drawn many titles for Marvel and DC Comics such as Amazing Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and Iron Man. Currently he is working on a creator-owned project for Image Comics.
Keu Cha is an artist who has worked extensively with Top Cow Productions on titles including The Darkness, Fathom, Rising Stars, and Witchblade.
Todd Dezago is an American comic book writer. He is best known for his collaborations with penciller Mike Wieringo on Sensational Spider-Man and their creator-owned fantasy series Tellos. Dezago is also know for co-creating Young Justice with artist Todd Nauck in the one-shot Young Justice: The Secret. His other Young Justice work includes the miniseries JLA: World Without Grown-ups.
Ian Glaubinger is an illustrator inspired by all things in pop culture: the cartoons of the 1950’s, Walt Disney, movies, comics, typography, vintage advertising, all things retro, his wife Kim, and his cat to name a few. He is a featured artist at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles, a very popular pop-culture based art gallery.
Daniel Govar is the co-founder of ThereAndBackAgain.net, a Tolkien and Lord of the Rings website dedicated to illustrating all facets of the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien. In 2010, Daniel’s sci-fi epic comic Azure was published by DC Comics, now available via DC and ComiXology’s digital apps.
Mark Morales is an inker best known for his works at Marvel Comics such as Secret Invasion, Siege, and Thor. Most recently he embellished the pages of Young Avengers over the pencils of fellow Boston Comic Con guest Jim Cheung.
Sara Richard’s work has appeared in Atomic Robo, Pre-Historic Times Magazine, several Marvel trading card sets, Zombie Bomb, and in her new children’s book Kitty and Dino. She has also worked as a toy designer for Hasbro.
Stephane Roux comes all the way from France as an illustrator of great renown. His sexy pinup-style art has graced the covers of Birds of Prey, Savage She-Hulk, and Countdown to Crisis. He has also illustrated Zatanna for DC Comics and is currently working on Star Wars: Agent of the Empire for Dark Horse.
Matteo Scalera is an Italian artist who was one of twelve discovered in Marvel’s worldwide talent search in 2005. He is best known for his work with the character Deadpool and has drawn the titles Deadpool Team-Up, Deadpool Corps, and Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth. Additionally he has worked on Hyperkinetic, Dynamo 5, and PopGun for Image Comics.
Thomas E. Sniegoski is the writer of the New York Times best-selling The Fallen: Vol. 1 & 2, as well as Remy Chandler. He is also the only writer ever invited to work on Jeff Smith’s award winning series Bone, working with Smith on Bone: Tall Tales. Sniegoski has just finished writing Bone: Quest for the Spark, and a new additions to The Fallen series, The Fallen: End of Days and The Fallen: Forsaken.
Charles Paul Wilson III is the acclaimed illustrator and co-creator of the New York Times Best-Selling Graphic Novel, The Stuff of Legend, published by Th3rd World Studios. His work has also graced the covers and pages of the comic industry’s top publishers such as IDW, DC, and Marvel Comics.
Dexter Vines is a comic book artist and inker best known for being one half of the “eDex” team, along with fellow Boston Comic Con guest Ed McGuiness. Dex has worked on titles for Marvel and DC including Civil War, Superman/Batman, JLA Classified, and Wolverine: Old Man Logan.

Everyone knows that with the current economy, consumers are spending less than before on their hobbies. Collector’s Paradise believes that as the economy changes for the better, the comic book industry will recover and with the proliferation of comic-based movies, a whole new audience will continue to grow for our products. “Opening a new location has always been a dream of mine, and bringing more business to such a fine area as Pasadena is an exciting opportunity we just could not pass up”, said Edward Greenberg, one of the co-owners of Collector’s Paradise.
The timing of the opening of the new store could not have been better, as it gives Collector’s Paradise the opportunity to unveil the new location during the most exciting day of the year for the whole industry, Free Comic Book Day. An annual event that happens every year on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day has become the most attended day of the year for most stores participating in the celebration. David Petersen is known all around as the creator /artist / writer of the amazing All Ages book, Mouse Guard, from Archaia. The book has won all types of awards and is considered a shining example of a graphic novel for fans of ALL ages. David will be on hand from 4pm to 6pm to sign for fans.
Jim McCann’s latest graphic novel, The Return of the Dapper Men, from Archaia, has been a huge critical hit and commercial success, selling out the whole first printing in a matter of days. His Marvel work, Avengers: The Reunion and Hawkeye & Mockingbird, among others, has also received some high praise. Jim will be on hand from 4pm to 6pm to sign for fans.
Mark Sable’s career in comics started with creator-owned Grounded, Fearless, and Hazed. He’s done some DC work including a Teen Titans Cyborg mini-series. His original series, Unthinkable, from Boom Studios! was too close to real life for TSA Agents, and right now he’s working on a new series, called Graveyard of Empires, for Image Comics. Mark will be on hand from 11 to 2 to sign for fans.
Sheldon Mitchell has done a great deal of work for Top Cow Studios, including Freshmen Summer Vacation Special, and his current run on The Darkness. Sheldon will be on hand from 11am to 2pm to sign and sketch for fans.
Rick Basaldua has been an artist/inker for many years on many Top Cow books, including the hot Artifacts mini-series, as well as Rising Stars, Pilot Season, and Utopia at Marvel Comics. Rick will be on hand from 11am to 2pm to sign and sketch for fans.
Tess Fowler is a rising star. So far her works has been featured in Michelle Obama Year One, Wonderland Annual 2010, Grimm Fairy Tales and Charmed, as well as Heavy Metal Magazine. Tess will be on hand from 3pm to 5pm to sign and sketch for fans.
Kids are a big focus of Collector’s Paradise’ effort on FCBD. The event will feature costumed characters for the kids to take photographs with, as well as several thousand kid-friendly comic books given away to all fans in attendance.
In addition to the free comics, Collector’s Paradise Pasadena will hold their biggest sale of the year, especially on comic book back issues, which will be sold at incredible price of just 50 Cents each, or $50 for an approx. 300 count box. The is the biggest reduction of price for back issues in the history of the store and will only happen on that day.

Mid-Ohio Comic Con Launches 2010 Charity Auction on eBay
Columbus, OH – December 2, 2010 – Mid-Ohio Comic Con is pleased to announce the launch of its 2010 charity auction on eBay. The auction features original art and other creative work from the guests at this year’s 30th anniversary show, many of whom made incredibly generous contributions. Of particular note, the auction includes all the giant sketches (19″ x 24″) done by artists on the Main Stage easel during the show as well as other contributed work, including sketchbooks, posters, and comics.
Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit the Hero Initiative, a non-profit organization that creates a financial safety net for comic creators who need emergency medical aid, financial support for the essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. “We are big believers in the Hero Initiative and are very pleased to see such strong support of its cause from the comic creators who donated their work to this year’s auction,” said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio Comic Con.

As an actress, Benson spent three seasons as Tara Maclay on the cult show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She has also written, produced, and directed three feature films.

Steve Niles is a writer. He writes comics, novels and films. He is one of the writers responsible for bringing horror comics back to prominence. Niles is currently working for the four top American comic publishers – Marvel, DC, Image and Dark Horse. Currently ongoing at Image is the creator-owned series BAD PLANET with co-writer Thomas Jane and THE CRYPTICS with artist Ben Roman. Everyone’s favorite monster hunter Cal McDonald returns in the monthly CRIMINAL MACABRE series from Dark Horse. And later this year, continuing 30 DAYS OF NIGHT spin-offs and AMERICAN FREAKSHOW return to IDW Publishing.

David Petersen was born in 1977. His artistic career soon followed. A steady diet of cartoons, comics, and tree climbing fed his imagination and is what still inspires his work today. David won the 2007 Russ Manning Award for Most Promising Newcomer. In 2008, David won the Eisners for Best Publication for Kids (Mouse Guard Fall 1152 & Winter 1152) and Best Graphic Album – Reprint (Mouse Guard Fall 1152 Hardcover). He is the creator of the Mouse Guard series and is excited to be working on projects he dearly loves doing.

In 1992 Starkings founded Comicraft, a studio which trains and employs letterers and designers and provides “Unique Design and Fine Lettering” services for comic books from many different publishers. Originally Starkings had intended that the advertisements for these fonts would feature Marvel and DC Comics’ characters, however when he failed to receive the authorisation to do that, Starkings created his own character to illustrate the ads – Hip Flask an anthropomorphic hippopotamus “Information Agent”. Hip Flask has since graduated to his own series of one-shot comic books, published by Active Images. In 2006 Image Comics launched an ongoing prequel series to Hip Flask, Elephantmen, written by Starkings.
Bernie Wrightson is an American artist known for his horror illustrations and comic books. He co-created (with writer Len Wein) the comic character Swamp Thing, and definitively illustrated Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Bernie has also collaborated regularly with author Stephen King, having illustrated The Stand, Cycle of the Werewolf, and Dark Tower V. He’s worked on Spiderman, Batman, and the Punisher, and provided countless covers for all of the major comics publishers. He wrote and drew his own scifi miniseries: Captain Sternn. Recent works include City of Others (Dark Horse), and Dead She Said and The Ghoul (IDW), both co-created with author Steve Niles. As a conceptual artist, Bernie has worked on several well-known films, including Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Spider-Man, Land of the Dead, and Frank Darabont’s latest Stephen King film The Mist.

Los Angeles, CA (September 20, 2010) – For one day only, Eisner and Origins Award-winning writer/artist David Petersen will be appearing at The Comic Bug, Manhattan Beach’s only comic book and pop culture store., providing South Bay comic book fans a chance to meet the creator behind the brave and noble band of sword-wielding mice.
The two-hour signing will run from 3 to 5 p.m. on September 25th, 2010 at The Comic Bug, located at 1807 Manhattan Beach Blvd. Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. The Mouse Guard series is an all-ages publication that any reader would enjoy.

Amongst various accolades and awards, Mouse Guard has received an avalanche of positive reviews. Los Angeles, CA (July 20, 2010) – In anticipation of the largest gathering in North America of comic book and pop culture fans, Archaia Entertainment announced it will be hosting over 40 writers and artists for autograph sessions and meet-and-greet opportunities at its booth at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Calif., to be held July 22-25, 2010 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Guests of special note include Brian Froud, a veteran of The Jim Henson Company, who will be on hand to sign exclusive posters for the upcoming Dark Crystal comics; actor/writer Michael McMillian (“True Blood”), who will sign copies of Lucid #1, the first comic to come from the partnership between Before the Door and Archaia; actor/writer/producer/director Dan Fogler (“Fanboys,” “Balls of Fury”), who will be signing a preview book of the upcoming Moon Lake, a hardcover anthology of comedic horror stories; Eisner Award-winning creator David Petersen, who’ll be on hand to sign copies of Mouse Guard; Tom Siddell, who will sign copies of the two volumes of Gunnerkrigg Court; Matz, the Eisner Award-nominated writer who will sign copies of The Killer, a popular series originally published in France that has captivated American readers; and Eisner Award-nominated writer Phil Hester, who will sign copies of the Archaia and Roddenberry Productions hardcover, Days Missing.
