Forbidden Planet is pleased to announce a signing by DAVID HINE. He will be signing FVZA: THE FEDERAL VAMPIRE AND ZOMBIE AGENCY at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Thursday 2nd September from 6 – 7pm.

Landra always knew that Vampires and Zombies were real. Trained to fight since childhood by her grandfather, legendary Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency operative Hugo Pecos, she was ready. Even though both viruses were – apparently – eradicated and the F.V.Z.A. officially disbanded, Landra knew they would be back. Little did she realise that when the Vampires did come out of hiding they would use a deadly new weapon – an incurable strain of the zombie virus. Now Picos and Landra (along with her brother Vidal) have been tasked to re-instate the agency and train a new batch of operatives to target the most dangerous Vampire they’ve ever known – Landra and Vidal’s own grandmother!

David Hine has been working in comics since the 1980s, working on everything from 2000AD to Image Comics’ Spawn to TokyoPop titles to Marvel’s X-Men. As well as the back-and-white horror comic Strange Embrace, he’s probably best-known for Silent War, a six-issue mini-series with art by Frazer Irving. More recently, he’s written the Arkham Asylum one-shot for the Batman” Battle for the Cowl event – which, in turn, created the mini-series Arkham Reborn.

Fans should note that because of anticipated crowding issues; artists appearing at the Top Cow booth will only be able to do a limited amount of free sketches per sitting.  Sketch tickets will be available at the beginning of each day of the show.  Sketch tickets are limited one per fan per day.  Fans must be present at the appointed signing time to redeem their sketch ticket.  Not all artists appearing at the Top Cow booth will offer free sketches and fans should inquire at the booth on the morning they plan to get a sketch for availability.

Also at the Top Cow booth #2629, the publisher will offer several items exclusive to Comic-Con International including three convention variant cover comic exclusives, two limited edition hardcovers, and an unannounced bargain-priced anthology book.

Fans who stop by the booth will be among the first to grab a copy of the debut issue to mega-event series, Artifacts by Marz and Broussard. Artifacts promises to be Top Cow’s most ambitious series to date and will weave together story lines from a number of Top Cow titles, including Witchblade, The Darkness, Angelus and Broken Trinity: Pandora’s Box.  It has been known for some time that thirteen mystical Artifacts guide the fate of the Top Cow Universe.  For centuries, it’s been whispered that bringing together all 13 artifacts would bring upon mankind’s destruction.  The series will begin with a mysterious figure who seeks to put Armageddon into motion.  Artifacts #1 will arrive in stores on Wednesday, July 28th.

Radical Publishing Announces SDCC Plans

In its grand return to San Diego Comic-Con International, Radical Publishing is holding nothing back with its largest booth space ever. The new 30×30 island space, with it’s large overhanging sign and the beautiful Radical Girls on hand at booth #3735, will feature many of the top names in the comic book and entertainment industry including Gene and Nick Simmons, Jim Steranko, Arthur Suydam, Darren Bousman, Steve Niles, David Hine and Rick Remender. Fans who visit the brand new Radical booth will have the chance to discover Radical’s diverse and varied library of titles, including the launch of Radical’s first title to implement the Bigger Books! Bigger Value! format, Incarnate #1, created, written and illustrated by Nick Simmons. Also debuting at this year’s Comic-Con is a first look at the special bronze Cholly & Flytrap figurine, sculpted by its creator Arthur Suydam (Marvel Zombies).
