Dave Guertin and Greg Baldwin sign at Chapel Hill Comics on Saturday, October 1st from 2-4pm!
Press Release:
Chapel Hill Comics is proud to announce a signing with CreatureBox. We’ll have copies of Spider Island: I ? New York, which features an 8-page Spider-Kitty story with art by CreatureBox. It’s got fantastic art, and it’s just four bucks!
We’ll also have copies of the Ratchet and Clank paperback collection, since CreatureBox illustrated the covers for the series! At this point, you’d be forgiven for asking, “Just who or what is CreatureBox?”
At its core, CreatureBox is for anyone who enjoys bizarre monster design, comics of spacemen, and illustrations of everything in between. For the past several years, Dave Guertin and Greg Baldwin have spent most of their time digging deep into what makes characters tick while trying to tell a few stories along the way.
They’ve had influential childhoods filled with cartoons, robots, aliens, and creatures of all shapes and sizes.
Yet through it all they’ve found collaboration to be the most critical ingredient. Together this has allowed them to expand their sensibilities while challenging each other to become better designers. Through Creaturebox.com, visitors are invited along for the ride as Dave and Greg dive into the deep end.

Press Release:
Angi Shearstone is an award-winning professional artist with an MFA in comics, a small herd of cats, strong geek tendencies and a fondness for ska-core. She’s worked in children’s books with Mercer Mayer, in comics on Batman: Gotham County Line with Scott Hampton, collaborated with Mur Lafferty on Beyond the Storm: Shadows of the Big Easy, and otherwise has self-published a handful of comic book projects, two with Joe Sutliff Sanders.
Her newest project, BloodDreams, is a vampire story where good and evil has little to do with who drinks blood and who doesn’t. Follow Jonny’s reluctant but inescapable descent into a dark world of intrigue, as he tries to find a new purpose, a new balance all over again, ultimately revealing himself as remarkable even among the extraordinary. It is a comic for grown ups, whcih includes violence, adult language, adult situations, & artistic nudity. Angi funded BloodDreams with a Kickstarter project!

Scott Hampton signs on Saturday, February 12, from 1pm until 3pm, as Hell comes to Chapel Hill Comics!
Chapel Hill Comics is proud to announce a signing event featuring local artist Scott Hampton, the artist of the new two-issue Hellboy series, Hellboy: The Sleeping and the Dead, published by Dark Horse Comics. We will have stock on hand of both issues of the series, including separate covers of issue #1 by Scott Hampton and series creator Mike Mignola.
For the first time, Hellboy: The Sleeping and the Dead pits Hellboy against vampires! The comics are priced at $3.50 each, so you will be able to pick up the full story for seven bucks, and have it signed by the artist! That’s a Hell (ahem) of a great deal!
Scott Hampton has a very impressive résumé. His professional comics work was the three-page story “Victims” published in Vampirella #101 in 1981. He has illustrated the adventures of iconic characters such as Batman, Sandman, and Black Widow, has adapted his favorite Ghost stories into fully painted comics (Spookhouse, published by IDW), and even illustrated the story of Genesis in The Bible: Eden. He won the Harvey Award (The Special Award for Excellence in Presentation) for Batman: Night Cries. Now he’s drawn a new Hellboy series, and it looks fantastic.
Come on out, meet an incredibly talented, locally-based artist, and pick up a fun, spooky story featuring one of indie comics’ most iconic characters!
