ABOUT JOHN CUSACK:  With an impressive body of work spanning the course of two decades, John Cusack has evolved into one of Hollywood’s most accomplished and respected actors of his generation, garnering both critical acclaim as well as prestigious accolades for his dramatic and comedic roles.

Cusack first gained the attention of audiences by starring in a number of 1980s film classics such as The Sure ThingSay Anything and Sixteen Candles.  Following these roles, Cusack successfully shed his teen-heartthrob image by demonstrating his ability to expand his film repertoire by starring in a wide range of dramas, thrillers and comedies including The GriftersEight Men Out, Adaptation, Being John Malkovich, High Fidelity and Grosse Pointe Blank.

This fall, we will see Cusack in Lee Daniels’ highly anticipated drama, The Paperboy. Cusack will star opposite Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey as Hillary Van Wetter, an inmate on death row.

Most recently, Cusack reunited with Nicolas Cage to film psychological thriller, Frozen Ground, which is scheduled to release in December 2012. In this film, which is based on true events, Cusack takes on the role of serial killer, Robert Hansen.

On April 27th, Cusack will be seen in the independent thriller The Raven where he portrays the infamous author, Edgar Allen Poe. The film, directed by James McTiegue and produced by Marc D. Evans, tells fictionalized account of the last days of Poe’s life, in which the poet is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer’s stories.

Cusack divides his time between Los Angeles and Chicago.

Each subsequent book about Sookie Stackhouse, telepathic barmaid and friend to vampires, werewolves, and various other odd creatures, has drawn more readers. The Southern Vampire books are published in twenty languages. They are also the basis of True Blood, the HBO series produced by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) and starring Golden Globe winner Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie.  Charlaine also writes the Harper Connelly series.

ABOUT LITERARY FEATURED GUESTS:

RACHEL CAINE is The New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Morganville Vampires, Weather Warden, and Outcast Seasonnovels, among many others. She grew up in the badlands outside of El Paso, Texas. General Sheridan famously said, “If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell.” Rachel’s trying her best, with the Morganville series, to prove him right. (But still, she does lives in Fort Worth, Texas. Not Hell.)

CHRISTINA HENRY is the author of the Black Wings series and enjoys running long distances, reading anything she can get her hands on and watching movies with subtitles in her spare time. Henry used to work in a comic book store and as a result, has boxes of bagged and boarded comics in her attic.  She lives in Chicago with her husband and son, and can be found on the web at www.christinahenry.net.

MARI MANCUSI used to wish she could become a vampire back in high school. But she ended up in another blood sucking profession—journalism—instead. Today she writes books for teens and adults. When not writing about creatures of the night, Mari enjoys traveling, cooking, goth clubbing, watching cheesy horror movies, and her favorite guilty pleasure—videogames. A graduate of Boston University and a two time Emmy Award winner, she lives in Austin, Texas with her husband Jacob, daughter Avalon and dog Mesquite. You can find Mari online at www.bloodcovenvampires.com.

CHLOE NEILL was born and raised in the South, but now makes her home in the Midwest. Chloe is the author of the fan-favorite and The New York Times bestselling Chicagoland Vampires series. She watches entirely too much television, roots for her favorite college football team, and believes, however unlikely, that she’ll one day finish a half-marathon. You can learn about Chloe Neill and Chicago’s vampires at www.chloeneill.com.

VERONICA WOLFF, once an aspiring art historian, is an award-winning, bestselling author with a soft spot for kilts and vampires. Known for her Scottish historical romances, she now writes a young adult series called The Watchers as well as an adult contemporary romance series called Sierra Falls. She has lived everywhere from Texas, to Hawaii, to India, finally settling in Northern California where she lives with her husband, two kids, and a houseful of pets.  Her unmarketable skills include snowboarding, speaking Hindi, gardening, and knowing an alarming amount of pop-culture trivia.

For further information about guests and activities at C2E2 as well as purchasing tickets, please visit www.C2E2.com.

JOE QUESADA:  Joe Quesada wears many creative hats, as both an acclaimed writer-artist and the Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment – the world’s largest and most dynamic comics publisher. In this role, Joe is steward of such legendary characters as Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor.

His tenure as Editor-in-Chief recently drew to a close after 10 successful years – the longest term since Stan Lee himself. Under Quesada’s guidance, Marvel underwent a creative boom and became home to the comic industry’s greatest talents, which continues to hold true today. He brings this same vision to his role in the whole of Marvel Entertainment across the worlds of publishing, film, and television.

AXEL ALONSO:  A 17-year comics industry veteran, Axel Alonso got his start at DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, where he edited such seminal series such as Preacher, Hellblazer and 100 Bullets, before leaping to Marvel Comics in 2001.   Since that time, he has overseen many of the publisher’s biggest franchises – including Spider-Man, Hulk and the X-Men – and edited some of its most talked-about series – including Truth,Rawhide Kid and X-Statix.  In 2011 Axel was promoted to Editor In Chief, a tenure during which he has overseen major events such as the Death of Ultimate Spider-Man and the chart-topping Fear Itself.  Besides comics, Alonso’s passions include basketball, hip-hop, 8-year-old shooting guard Tito “Mr. T” Alonso, Asian food and preparing for the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse.

JASON AARON:  Jason Aaron is an Eisner and Harvey Award nominated comic book writer whose work includes the critically acclaimed crime series Scalped for Vertigo and stints on Black Panther, Ghost Rider and Wolverine: Weapon X for Marvel. Current and upcoming projects includeWolverine, Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine, PunisherMAX X-Men Schism and Wolverine & the X-Men, all for Marvel. He was born in Alabama but currently resides in Kansas City.

RICK REMENDER:  Rick Remender is the writer/creator of comics such as Fear Agent, The End League, Strange Girl, Black Heart Billy, Last Days of American Crime, Sea of Red, Sorrow, Night Mary, XXXombies and Doll and Creature. He is also the writer of Marvel’s Uncanny X-Force, Secret Avengers, and Venom.

Outside of comics he has served as lead writer on EA/EPIC/PCF’s Bulletstorm game and was a writer on the Electronic Arts hit game Dead Space . Prior to this, Remender served as an animator on films such as The Iron Giant, Anastasia, Titan A.E., and Rocky and Bullwinkle.

During his time wrist grinding as an artist Rick penciled books such as The Last Christmas, Bruce Campbell’s Man with the Screaming Brain and numerous issues of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles while also inking books such as The Avengers and The Terminator . He has provided album covers and art for bands such as NOFX, 3 Inches of Blood, Lagwagon and No Use for a Name. He also taught storyboarding, animation and comic art at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University for many years. He and his tea-sipping wife, Danni, currently reside in California with their two kids, and a monster known only as Lester Magoo.

DAN SLOTT: Dan is someone who isn’t comfortable typing up his own bio and/or talking about himself in the third person. That said, I hear he is extremely modest and would never mention the multiple times he swam the English Channel, piloted clandestine moon missions, or wrestled nuclear-powered mastodons. He is a riddle wrapped in an enigma… and then dipped in a tangy chipotle sauce. You might know him from his work as a writer on Amazing Spider-Man, Mighty Avengers, Avengers: The Initiative, She-Hulk, Arkham Asylum: Living Hell, Batman Adventures, Looney Tunes, or Ren & Stimpy.  Or if comics ain’t your bag, he’s the guy who wrote the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions game for XBox 360, PS3, and PC. Don’t worry about bringing too many comics for him to sign. He’ll sign all of ‘em. Because, well, it’s really no trouble, he has a monosyllabic name, and, seriously, it’s the least he can do– when you bought all that stuff, you paid his rent.

ABOUT REEDPOP:  ReedPOP is a boutique group within Reed Exhibitions which is exclusively devoted to organizing events, launching and acquiring new shows, and partnering with premium brands in the pop culture arena.  ReedPOP is dedicated to producing celebrations of popular culture throughout the world that transcend ordinary events by providing unique access and dynamic personal experiences for consumers and fans. The ReedPOP portfolio includes: New York Comic Con (NYCC), Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East & West, Star Wars Celebration VI, Fantasy Football Fest, and UFC Fan Expo.  The staff at ReedPOP is a fan based group of professionals producing shows for other fans, thus making them uniquely qualified to service those with whom they share a common passion.  ReedPOP is focused on bringing its expertise and knowledge to world communities in North America, South America, Asia and Europe.

CHICAGO COMIC & ENTERTAINMENT EXPO ANNOUNCES DATES FOR 2012

Norwalk, CT, September 1, 2011:  Organizers of Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) have announced that the 2012 edition of the annual pop culture convention will take place April 13 – 15 in the North Hall of McCormick Place Convention Center.  While this represents a small move from the West Building of McCormick Place where the show took place last year, convention officials note that they were eager to remain at McCormick while also securing a slightly later date for C2E2 in conjunction with a change of dates and venue for WonderCon in 2012.  An announcement about WonderCon’s change of dates and C2E2’s cooperation in alleviating a crowded convention calendar has just been released (9/1/11) by WonderCon organizers.

“We have had three objectives in mind in determining our 2012 dates for C2E2,” notes Lance Fensterman, Group Vice President for ReedPOP and Show Manager for C2E2.  “We wanted to keep C2E2 in the first quarter of the year, preferably March or April, we wanted to work together with WonderCon to set a schedule that makes sense for fans and exhibitors, and we wanted to keep C2E2 atMcCormick Place.  We have managed to satisfy all three of these requirements and we can now set our sights on delivering a fabulous show that will have all the earmarks of a great ReePOP event.”

Customers interested in signing up for Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo should contact Larry Settembrini at lsettembrini@reedexpo.com.  Other information about the show, as well as news about ReedPOP, which also organizes New York Comic Con (NYCC) is available at Lance Fensterman’s blog, www.mediumatlarge.net.

WonderCon Moving to Anaheim for 2012; C2E2 and Wizard World Move to Accommodate

WonderCon 2012

Press Release:

WonderCon to Be held in Anaheim, CA, March 16-18, 2012

C2E2 and Wizard World to Accommodate Change

San Diego – WonderCon, part of Comic-Con International’s (CCI) family of conventions, today announced that the 2012 show will be held March 16-18, and Anaheim, California, will play host to the long-running comics and popular arts convention. San Francisco’s Moscone Center, WonderCon’s traditional venue, will undergo renovations in early 2012, leaving the 25-year-old show in the unenviable position of either being canceled or finding a new venue.

In a move to help alleviate an overcrowded calendar, ReedPop’s C2E2, which has been waiting to announce dates for its own show in March 2012, will now seek alternative dates while Wizard World has announced that it will postpone its April 2012 Anaheim show.

“It certainly was not our wish to move,” commented David Glanzer, director of marketing and public relations for the nonprofit event. “However, when faced with the prospect of canceling the show for a year or moving locations, after careful consideration we decided to keep WonderCon on the 2012 calendar at a venue that could accommodate our needs.”

“We fully understand the challenges of trying to secure dates at any venue, let alone one undergoing renovation,” said Lance Fensterman, Group Vice President of ReedPop. “In an effort to minimize the impact on exhibitors and attendees we are currently looking to shift C2E2 from our traditional March dates.”

Gareb Shamus, CEO of Wizard World offered a unique solution to offset any potential conflict for fans and exhibitors: “All of us who produce conventions know securing dates can often be a frustrating experience especially when you find yourself having to move to a new city.” Shamus continued, “Because of their long history, Wizard World has decided to accommodate WonderCon and postpone our April 2012 Anaheim show.”

“We appreciate the efforts of Lance and Gareb for going above and beyond in making the WonderCon transition more manageable,” said Glanzer.
