Ward is also tirelessly devoted to rescuing dogs and both he and his wife operate the largest giant breed dog rescue in the world, Gentle Giants Rescue. Ms. Newmar is a Tony Award-winning stage actress widely known to a generation of TV viewers for her guest-starring appearances in many iconic TV programs in the 1960′s and 70′s including The MonkeesColumboGet SmartStar TrekF Troop and The Beverly Hillbillies, among many others. She is widely credited for creating the quintessential Catwoman in the Batman TV Series.

His undeniable talent and unique brand of humor have become truly iconic in entertainment and he continues to entertain fans around the world.

BURT WARD: At the age of 20, Ward auditioned for the part of Robin. After beating out over 1,100 other kids for the part, Ward was cast alongside Adam West in the title role, and the two would go on to become pop culture icons. First airing as a mid-season replacement, Batman took the ratings – and world – by storm with its vivid colors and larger than life villains, played by some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

The series went on to produce 120 episodes and a full length feature film. The multi-level appeal of the show made it a life-long favorite for fans young and old. The show still airs today in 50 countries worldwide. Burt Ward and Adam West quickly became household names and remain that way today.

Today, Burt and his wife operate the largest giant breed dog rescue in the world, Gentle Giants Rescue. Over the past 18 years, they have rescued over 14,000 dogs. Having dedicated his life to saving the lives of thousands of dogs, it really shows that Burt Ward has gone from the “Caped Crusader” to the “Canine Crusader”.

JULIE NEWMAR: Born in Hollywood … known for being the quintessential Catwoman. Julie Newmar dropped out of college to become a choreographer/ dance director for Universal Studios. Her early appearances are often seen on YouTube, including her role as the golden statue-come to-life in the film Serpent of the Nile. She was next cast as one of the brides in the classic MGM musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Like her mother, a former Ziegfeld girl, Julie made the New York stage her next horizon at age 19.

She soon became an overnight sensation as the one and only Stupefyin’ Jones in Li’l Abner. Julie would recreate the same role on Broadway 42 years later, in the same costume. Subsequent to the original performance, her legs were insured for 10 million dollars (not however, in the event of theft).

Julie won a Tony for her acting role on Broadway in the hit comedy Marriage-Go-Round, and she was immediately accepted by the prestigious Actors Studio. Loving dance, she continued to star in Bob Fosse’s musicals on and off Broadway. She toured nationally with Joel Grey in Stop the World I Want to Get Off.

She guest-starred in many now-favorite TV episodes, on shows such as The MonkeesColumbo,Love American StyleGet SmartStar TrekF TroopThe Beverly HillbilliesTwilight Zone andRoute 66. The part she’s most fondly remembered for is Catwoman, in the original Batmantelevision series.

In 1995, Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment produced a movie named after her, To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar. In the film, Julie appeared as herself.

With cutting-edge sensibility, Julie retrained herself into the Internet world of social media. Active on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/jnewmar, Julie is currently working on four books, and various videos to be seen on the media section of her website, www.JulieNewmar.com.

An avid gardener, Julie’s gardens are renowned. There is a rose, daylily and begonia named after her. See: http://JulieNewmar.com/videos/julie_newmar_garden/

Julie has a handicapped son who “sparks love and a high level of creativity” in her life.

Burt Ward to Make 1st Emerald City Comicon Appearance in 2013

Burt Ward Robin

Press Release:

Atomic batteries to power! Turbines to speed! The “Boy Wonder” swings into Seattle with Batman…..for the FIRST TIME EVER!!!

Actor Burt Ward, classic television’s Robin, to suit up for Emerald City Comicon 2013 !

Seattle, WA – The one and only Burt Ward (“Robin” from the 1960s Batman) is the thirteenth special celebrity guest announced for the upcoming Emerald City Comicon taking place on March 1st – 3rd, 2013 at the Washington State Convention Center. He will be appearing all three days!

Emerald City Comicon 2013 is the very first and only time that both Adam West and Burt Ward have appeared in Seattle for a joint appearance in their nearly 50 years of working together.

Burt Ward gained pop culture immortality as crime-fighting super hero sidekick “Robin” from the legendary series Batman. Cast in the role at the young age of only 19, Ward, along with Adam West, brought the iconic “dynamic duo” to life for two and a half seasons (1966-68). Additionally, they starred in a 1966 theatrical version of Batman that was produced in order to sell the series to stations overseas.

Ward almost landed Dustin Hoffman’s role in The Graduate, but instead opted to renew his contract with Batman. Though short-lived, their characters would get a second life as a Saturday morning cartoon. Entitled The New Adventures of Batman, the animated offering produced by Filmation Studios would see both Ward and West reprise their roles as “Batman” and “Robin” for the 1977-78 season. Ward and West would reunite on several occasions, including the campy live-action 1979 farce Legends of the Superheroes and the 2003‘s Back to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt.

After Batman, Ward would go on to make guest appearances on such shows as Spongebob Squarepants and The Simpsons. He also starred in the 1984 television movie High School U.S.A., which featured other classic stars of the small screen including Jerry Mathers, Ricky Nelson and Batman co-star Julie Newmar.

In 1994, Ward and his wife founded a charitable organization called Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, which rescues giant breed dogs like Great Danes. A year later, he wrote a tell-all autobiography called Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights about his time playing arguably one of the most famous sidekicks of all time.

Joining Ward at ECCC 2013 will be  previously announced guests  Sir Patrick Stewart (“Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek The Next Generation, “Dr. Charles Xavier” from the X-Men films), Billy Dee Williams (“Lando Calrissian” from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), Walter Koenig (“Chekov” from classic Star Trek), Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), Paul McGillion (Stargate Atlantis), Michael Shanks (Saving Hope, Stargate SG-1), Kristin Bauer (“Pam” from HBO’s True Blood), Gillian Anderson (“Agent Scully” from The X-Files), Chandler Riggs (“Carl Grimes” on AMC’s The Walking Dead), Adam West (TV’s classic Batman, Dirk Benedict (“Faceman” from The A-Team, “Starbuck” from Battlestar Galactica) and Danai Gurira (“Michonne” from The Walking Dead). More fantastic celebrity guests yet to be announced!

Press Release:

Stan Lee presents Dallas Comic Con (the 10th Anniversary show) brings major guests to Big D

On May 19-20, the Dallas Comic Con returns to the Irving Convention Center, and this promises to be the most incredible convention the Southwest has ever seen. The full title of the event is actually “Stan Lee presents Dallas Comic Con”, and marks Stan “The Man” Lee’s second appearance at the show (he last appeared in 2011, and had such a great time he wanted to return in 2012). This also happens to be the 10th Anniversary of the Dallas Comic Con, which started in 2002 with Guest of Honor Dave Stevens. This year’s installment pulls out all the stops, featuring media superstars Patrick Stewart (Saturday only), Val Kilmer, and Adam West and Burt Ward. Comic book legends Neal Adams (BATMAN: ODYSSEY), George Perez (DC New 52 SUPERMAN) and Zombie King Arthur Suydam headline the creator portion of the guest list, which also includes popular names like Len Wein (co-creator of WOLVERINE and SWAMP THING, writer of BEFORE WATCHMEN), Cully Hamner (co-creator of RED), Brian Stelfreeze (BATMAN: SHADOW OF THE BAT cover artist), Norm Breyfogle (quintessential BATMAN artist), Greg Horn (cover artist of ELEKTRA and EMMA FROST), Marvel artist and colorist husband and wife team Mitch and Elizabeth Breitweiser, and Alex Saviuk (SPIDER-MAN and Stan Lee’s MIGHTY 7 artist). The show will host a special appearance by BATMAN animated voice master Kevin Conroy (signing for FREE), and STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION’s “Q” John De Lancie. STAR WARS fans will enjoy meeting Darth Vader himself Dave Prowse and Boba Fett man behind the mask Jeremy Bulloch.

With the amazing guest list and high anticipation of the show’s return (last year drew nearly 12,000 attendees), both VIP and Priority badges have already sold out with nearly two months left before the convention. General Admission tickets are still available. DCC Event Manager Mark Walters says “This is the biggest event we’ve ever attempted to date, and the excitement surrounding it is amazing. We sold out of exhibit space and artist alley tables in record time, and the ticket sales are through the roof. Anyone attending is going to get their money’s worth, as we have an incredible list of talent coming, lots of exciting Q&As planned, and plenty to do and see. One thing we’ve always prided ourselves on is this being a great family experience, and we see more and more new families attending with each event we do – it’s a terrific feeling to know we’re bringing happiness to fans of all ages, and the ten years of hard work is really paying off for everyone.”

The Dallas Comic Con runs May 19-20, 2012 – at the Irving Convention Center, just 5 minutes or so from DFW airport. Discounted General Admission tickets are available in advance on the site. All the latest info can be found at http://dallascomiccon.com
