    WA – Reggie-12 Signing

    br091013

Cartoonist Brian Ralph appears on Saturday, September 7th, at the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery to celebrate the launch of the highly-anticipated Reggie-12 from Drawn & Quarterly, a hilarious pop-culture send-up of the infallible boy hero first presented in the seminal Asian culture magazine Giant Robot.  Join us from 6:00 to 8:00 PM as The Cave-In and Daybreak author presents a hilarious slide show with a signing to follow.

Reggie-12 is a young robot with endless enthusiasm. He lives with a bumbling sad-sack friend, a wise-cracking cat, and a well-meaning but forgetful inventor. Laughs explode from the page in this work, which reinterprets classic Japanese adventure manga through Brian Ralph’s trademark style. Come along for a wild ride with Reggie-12, Casper, and Professor Tinkerton as they eat pizza, play video games, and get dissed by bad guys.

The Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery is located at 1201 S. Vale Street in Seattle’s Georgetown district. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone: (206) 658-0110.

    MA – Highwater Art Show

Brian Ralph, Megan Kelso, Ron Rege, Jordan Crane, Greg Cook, Jef Czekaj, Marc Bell, and Kurt Wolfgang exhibit on Oct. 1st, some of the work wil be new some will be originals pages from their published work. Though not all of these artists were published by Highwater, they all worked with/for the company in one way or another and since a large of part of Highwater was it’s status as a kind of comics “gang” it is important that the people that appear in the show were integral in that. Along with the original work there will be an installation that exhibits the ephemera/history of the company to give the art and artists context as well as a catalog that will give an oral history of the company.
