Tickets available at the link! SOLD OUT!!
Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, the co-creators of the highly influential, Emmy-nominated HBO sketch program Mr. Show, will discuss their collection of never-before-seen scripts, storyboards and unaired sketches with co-star and co-writer Brian Posehn. Tickets are $8 and can be applied as credit towards the purchase of a copy of the book. The authors will not sign anything other than copies of HOLLYWOOD SAID NO!
About HOLLYWOOD SAID NO!:
This fall, Bob & David are finally back together after all these years (and embarking on their first official tour together since a sold-out national tour in 2002 following the end of Mr. Show, their highly influential, Emmy-nominated HBO sketch program) with a collection of never-before-seen scripts that were so funny they made Hollywood wet its ninny-pants. HOLLYWOOD SAID NO! reveals the amazing full-length scripts for Bob and David Make a Movie (fleshed out with brand-new storyboards by acclaimed artist Mike Mitchell) and Hooray For America!: a satirical power-house indictment of all that you hold dear.
And there’s more! HOLLYWOOD SAID NO! will also include a section of “constructive” notes written by a “studio executive,” a bonus section of orphaned sketch ideas from the Mr. Show days and beyond, suitable for performance by church groups that aren’t all “koo-koo” about religion. And last but not least (well, possibly least), Bob & David provide a section of reminiscences to add context and back story on what went right and what went wrong. For the first time ever, take a peek at the scripts that didn’t get the green light from Hollywood and ponder a world we can only dream about.

Bob Odenkirk is an actor, writer, film director and comedian who wrote for Saturday Night Live and The Ben Stiller Show, amongst others. He writes humor pieces for The New Yorker and is currently starring on the Emmy award-winning show Breaking Bad.

Brian Posehn has most recently been seen on Comedy Central’s popular show, The Sarah Silverman Program and on tour as one of the original members of the “Comedians of Comedy.” Besides writing and performing on HBO’s acclaimed Mr. Show, he has appeared in sitcoms such as Just Shoot Me, Seinfeld, NewsRadio, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Friends.

Harvard Book Store is pleased to welcome BOB ODENKIRK (Breaking Bad) and DAVID CROSS (Arrested Development) for a discussion of their book Hollywood Said No!: Orphaned Film Scripts, Bastard Scenes, and Abandoned Darlings from the Creators of Mr. Show.
Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, creators of HBO’s classic sketch comedy show Mr. Show, present to you this collection of never-before-seen scripts and ideas that Hollywood couldn’t find the gumption to green-light. Simply put…
HOLLYWOOD SAID NO!
Since Mr. Show closed up shop, Bob and David have kept busy with many projects–acting in fun, successful, movies and TV shows, directing things, and complaining about stuff that didn’t turn out well to anyone who would listen, and even alone, in silence, inside their own heads. Hollywood Said No! reveals the full-length, never-before-seen scripts for Bob and David Make a Movie (fleshed out with brand-new storyboards by acclaimed artist Mike Mitchell) and Hooray For America!: a satirical power-house indictment of all that you hold dear. This tome also includes a bonus section of orphaned sketch ideas from the Mr. Show days and beyond, suitable for performance by church groups that aren’t all koo-koo about religion. Hollywood Said No!, is chock-full of comic twists, turns, and maybe a few hard truths. We said “maybe,” but what we mean was “probably not.”
Now, for the first time, take a peek at the scripts that didn’t get the go-ahead and ponder a world we can only dream about…and beyond!

Actor, comedian, musician and comic book writer Brian Posehn will be visiting Heroes’ Haven the week after Free Comic Book Day! You also know him from shows like Comedy Central’s ‘The Sarah Silverman Program’ or in films like Grind, the 2005 Rob Zombie horror film ‘The Devil’s Rejects’, ‘Sleeping Dogs Lie’ and ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ just to mention a few. On March 1-3, 2013, the Washington State Convention Center was home to the 10th annual Emerald City Comic Con! While I’ve attended the show 2 years prior, the show had undergone a massive change, particularly opening up a whole new hallway, adding to the depth of the show, as well as the serious amount of star power in their guests both in media as well as the comic world.
In terms of size alone, ECCC now seems to belong in the upper echelon of top comic conventions, trailing only SDCC, NYCC, and being on par with heavy hitter shows such as C2E2, and WonderCon. Jim Demonakos has put together a consistently solid show, and judging from the positive comments from the artists and writers that I spoke to at the show, ECCC will continue to be a great presence in the comic con circuit.
Heading into the show, I seriously underestimated the intense love of comics the fans up in the northwest have, experiencing long lines from show exclusives such as Sex # 1 and the Walking Dead Governor Special, to artist commission lines for Bruce Timm, Adi Granov, Skottie Young, Charlie Adlard, and Humberto Ramos. Going upstairs to the celebrity room, I was able to witness extremely long lines for stars such as Patrick Stewart, Christopher Lloyd, and Gillian Anderson. Overall, this show was the perfect mix of celebrities and comics one would expect from a comic convention. While SDCC is focused more on the entertainment side of it all, the love of comics was still heavily prevalent at this show, which made me happy to see so many fans line up to meet their favorite creators. I can’t wait to see this show continue to grow and foster the next generation of comic fans!
And now, onto the pictures:
