Big Apple Comic Con will host an entire Saturday of exclusive programming, including an exclusive panel discussion with WILSON CRUZ (Dr. Hugh Culber, Star Trek: Discovery). Cruz is famous for being part of the Star Trek franchise’s first gay male kiss.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Included in that vision is that no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.

The auctioneer for the charity event will be Steve Borock! Steve is the president of CBCS (Comic Book Certification Service), an expert, impartial third party grading service; He also serves on the board of the Hero Initiative, a charity helping comic book creators in financial need. He believes in charity for all in need and is proud to help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with our original art auction!

Kids DayNEW YORK and PHILADELPHIA, May 23, 2013 – Move over, mom and dad!  Sunday, June 2, is Kids Day at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, with an array of programming, kid-friendly celebrities, creators and exhibitors designed especially for children, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.  From the impossibly cute Kids Costume Contest to the positively “icky” Creepy Crawler Bug Display, children of all ages will enjoy a variety of activities all day long.  Kids 10 and under are free all weekend with a paid adult (two children admitted per paid adult).

As kids arrive on Sunday, they will receive an official “Wizard World Kids Day Passport” and sheet detailing all of the places they can visit to have the passport stamped.  Those include artists like Terry Huddleston and Sara Richard, fan groups like the New York Jedi and Delaware Valley LEGO Users Group, exhibitors like 3 Girls Creations and J&J Collectibles, and celebrities like “The Green Power Ranger” Jason David Frank.  Awesome!

Some of the highlights of the day include:

  • Balloon Art, Arts & Crafts and “Creepy Crawler Bug Display” hosted by the Rutgers Univ. Department of Entomology all day at Wizard World Kids Booth #3000
  • Junior Saber Training at the Cosplay Stage.  Show off those moves! (11 a.m. and 3 p.m.)
  • Author Jon Lindenblatt and artist Brian Kong discuss Trolley Dodgers, Pinstriped Yankees, and Wearing Red Sox: How MLB Teams Got Their Names, a children’s baseball book, with artwork to color (11 a.m.)

We’re Celebrating 50 Years of Mars Attacks

Harrisburg, PA – October 1, 2012 – The 57th Philly Non-Sports Card Show will take place October 20 and 21 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Merchants Square Mall in Allentown, PA (1901 S 12th Street, Allentown, PA 18103). The Philly Non-Sports Card Show is the premier event for non-sport and entertainment card collectors and has been running continuously since the 1980s.

To coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Mars Attacks, a seminal trading card series, and the recent release of Topps’ Mars Attacks Heritage trading cards, the show will have a Mars Attacks theme. Show goers will be treated to an exclusive Topps Mars Attacks promotional card, several Mars Attacks inspired self-produced Philly Show cards, Mars Attacks prizes, and more. Collectors are encouraged to wear their best alien gear.

As always, collectors will find dealers selling a diverse array of trading cards depicting everything from Garbage Pail Kids to The Walking Dead. Many trading card manufacturers will be exhibiting including Breygent Marketing, Cryptozoic Entertainment, Monsterwax, Non-Sport Update, Rittenhouse Archives, shopTopps, SideKick, Topps, and others

Several artists will also be exhibiting, most of whom have worked on Mars Attacks cards in the past. Those artists include: Doug Cowan, Ted Dastick Jr., Brian Kong, Ed Repka, and Sara Richard.

A special gathering for NSU Card Talk forum members and guests will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, the show’s host hotel (advance registration is required). In keeping with the Mars Attacks theme, Topps’ Licensing Manager will speak about where the license is heading.

Admission to the Philly Non-Sports Card Show is just $6 daily. A two-day pass may be purchased for $10. Show hours are Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, 10 AM to 3 PM.

New Artists’ Show featuring Incredible Trading Card and Comic Book Artists Line-Up

Pop Art ConHarrisburg, PA – May 17, 2012 – The first ever “Pop Art Con” will take place Sunday June 10 at the Hilton Garden Inn Philadelphia/Ft. Washington (530 West Pennsylvania Ave., Ft. Washington, PA 19034). Pop Art Con is a brand new artists’ show run by Non-Sport Update magazine, promoters of the Philly Non-Sports Card Show, a collectors’ show that has been run continuously since the 1980s and is currently run twice per year in Allentown, PA.

Pop Art Con will feature the best in trading card and comic book creators. The artist line-up includes: Kate Bradley, Edward Cherniga, Rusty Gilligan, Robert Hack, Meghan Hetrick, Laura Inglis, Gary Kezele, Brian Kong, Jim Kyle, Jerry Ma, Bill McKay, Joseph Miller, Veronica O’Connell, Rhiannon Owens, Sean Pence, David Quiles, Scott Rorie, Tim Shay, and The Sucklord. At the show, collectors will be able to meet the artists and commission them, as well as purchase sketch cards, prints, sketchbooks, artists returns and proofs, and more. King Of The Sketch Brian Kong Confirms Appearance At March 21 2010 Non-Sports Card Show

HERSHEY, PA – USA Theatres, organizers of the up-coming Baltimore Non-Sports Card Convention, recently revealed a limited edition Green Hornet promo card, designed exclusively for the convention, in conjunction with Martin Grams’ and Terry Salomonsons’ up-coming Green Hornet book due for publication March 2010.

The card will be issued with each paid admission, while supplies last (only 1,000 will be printed).

The convention will feature numerous tables of exhibitors from the non-sports hobby, including artists, authors, manufacturers, publishers, and dealers.

Newly added guests appearing at the convention include Brian Kong (a full-time Sketch Card Artist, who has created over 10,000 original sketch cards from some of the most prolific properties including: MLB, X-Men, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Heroes, NBA, Dexter, Marvel Masterpieces, Iron Man Movie, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman 3, Star Trek, Marilyn Monroe, Wizard of Oz, The Complete Avengers, DC: Legacy, and Frankenstein) and Manny Mederos (Cartoonist/Illustrator and Sketch Card Artist, whose recent projects include sketch card sets such as Voltron, Defender of the Universe, Moonstone Comics Maximum, 5finite’s Zombies VS Cheerleaders, and the Archie Comics/March of Dimes sketch card series).

Rhonda Havlock – Rhonda Havlock has been creating artwork for the past 10 years, from painting with oils and water-colors to working with pen, ink, and colored pencil in addition to several other forms of non-traditional media.  Havlock currently has several projects that she’s working on, including Deco Max, Cocktails, Portraits, Marilyn Monroe, Abstract Geometry series, and more.  Some of her featured works can be seen on  Ms. Havlock is one of the curators of The Trading Card Museum.

Steven Miller – Steven Miller is a professional artist who has caused quite a splash in the non-sport trading card industry.  Since his first published piece hit the George Perez Newsletter, his work has graced the cover of Non-Sport Update, followed by original sketch cards for Rittenhouse Archives’ Art and Images of Xena: Warrior Princess, Art and Images of Star Trek The Original Series, X-Men 3: The Last Stand, and The Complete Avengers.  Miller’s work can also be seen on Artbox’s Frankenstein release and Topps Lord of the Rings Masterpieces series.  These high profile trading card series have landed Miller’s work on the desks at companies like Universal Studios, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Marvel, Turner Entertainment and Warner Bros.  To find out about Miller’s next projects, visit

U.S.S. William Penn – The U.S.S. William Penn is a newly-forming chapter of Starfleet, The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc.  It serves the Pennsylvania Capital area with members currently from Dillsburg, Elizabethtown, Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, Leola, and Manheim.  Membership is, however, open to all interested sci-fi fans.  Although Star Trek will be the primary area of interest of the group, other science fiction TV shows and movies will be discussed and watched at meetings.  For more information, visit them online at

Brian Kong – Brian Kong has worked professionally in comics and advertising industries for over 12 years.  Kong first started at Marvel comics penciling a pin-up for Fantastic Four unlimited.  He has been working on sketch cards for the past three years on almost every major property including Star Wars, LOTR and MLB (to name a few).  You can also see sketch cards by Brian in the new X-MEN archives and Justice League card sets from Rittenhouse.  To view samples of Brian’s work, visit his website,  Brian’s appearance is currently “Tentative”.

Geppi’s Entertainment Museum (GEM) is a journey through 250 years of American pop culture, located in historic Camden Station at Camden Yards in Baltimore Maryland, just a few blocks from the city’s famed Inner Harbor. The museum exhibits nearly 6,000 pop culture artifacts from the late 1700s to the present day, including comics, toys, dolls, games, trading cards, and memorabilia of every conceivable category. We have a great convention Oct 3rd and 4th on Oaks Pa at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center

We are planning 100 guests each day split between celebrity, comic,wrestling and Sports. There will be a total of 375 8 foot tables. 275 dealer tables and 100 autograph/guest tables.

Dealer tables are available for $150 for the weekend. Admission is $10 daily.
