IN – FCBD 2018: Comic Book University

Comic Book University celebrates Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 5, 2018 with special guests:

Jackie Crofts is an Indianapolis based illustrator currently working alongside writer James F. Wright on Action Lab Entertainment’s Nutmeg. In addition to comic illustration, doing art for games is her second passion (next to gardening). She has worked on several educational games as well as her personal project, a point-and-click mystery game called Stranger Dreams.

Paul Allor is a comic book writer, letterer and editor based in North-Central Indiana. He has worked on properties ranging from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Guardians of the Galaxy to Bravest Warriors. Paul is also well known for his critically-acclaimed creator-owned books such as Tet, Past the Last Mountain, Strange Nation and Monstro Mechanica.

Lee Cherolis is an Illustrator, Cartoonist, Graphic Designer and bass player for The Shake Ups. He’s responsible for everything visual about Little Guardians including character designs, pencils and inks. Lee also organizes Indianapolis’ local comic artist and writer meetup, the Indy Webcomics Group.

Ed Cho is the writer for Little Guardians, responsible for all of the comic’s scripts and story development. Ed created a webcomic inspired by his cats at www.alandscout.com. He is an active member in Indy Webcomics Group, and was featured in their anthology entitled: Welcome to Indiana, with his story Skeletons in the Elevator. Ed is also guitarist for The Shake Ups.

Dan Schkade is a freelance comic book writer and artist from Austin, Texas. His credits include Will Eisner’s The Spirit, Battlestar Galactica: Gods and Monsters, San Hannibal, and The Fowl. He lives in Portland, Oregon, where he is a member of the comic creator collective Helioscope.

Mark Brayer has been working professionally in the art/design business for over 30 years, creating art for corporate and business design, greeting cards, comic strips, comic books, children’s books, book covers, character design, etc. Mark also produces artwork for Officially Licensed Star Trek products.

James Maddox: After completing titles like the critically acclaimed thriller The Horror Show, James continued his comic career with stories like THE DEAD, Clown, Eccentrix and the forthcoming The Art of the Kill. A versatile and prolific creator, his short stories appear in Spread from Image Comics, Colonial Comics Vol. 2 and The 27 Anthology to name a few. James is also a founder of the Tri-State Comic Con in his home state of West Virginia and bass player in the rock band Qiet.

Momo Con 2018 Welcomes Comic Guests

MomoCon is happy to welcome Comic Guests Kate Leth, Mark Russell, Jenvieve Broomall, and Christopher Jones to the 2018 convention on May 24-27th!

Kate Leth is a comic, animation and tweet writer. Currently working on various secrets at Hasbro as well as her own personal comics on Patreon, she is the words behind Spell on Wheels and Patsy Walker AKA HELLCAT. She has written comics for Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors, Edward Scissorhands, Fraggle Rock, Vampirella, and many more. This is her first time in Georgia. Wow!

Mark Russell is the writer behind The Flintstones, Snagglepuss, and Prez. He also wrote two books about the Bible called God Is Disappointed in You and Apocrypha Now.

Jenevieve Broomall is a popular Cover Illustrator. She has published Covers with clientele ranging from Valiant, IDW, Tales Told LLC Lady Death Series, Aspen/Big Dog Ink, Zenescope, Devil’s Due Publishing, and more Independent companies spanning the last six years.

Christopher Jones is a comic book artist best known for his work on Young Justice and The Batman Strikes for DC Comics. Christopher’s other work for DC Comics includes Batman ’66, Justice League Adventures, Batman & Robin, Day of Judgment and the cult series Young Heroes in Love. His work for Marvel Comics includes Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Marvel Superhero Squad.

TX – Octopus Pie/Secret Coders Signing

Cartoonist Meredith Gran and Mike Holmes appear at Dragon’s Lair from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 13th.

Meredith Gran has ended her long-running, award-winning and groundbreaking webcomic Octopus Pie! To celebrate the print debut of the final volume from Image Comics, she’s touring the country this July. She’ll be in Chicago – so come out to meet her, get some books signed, and help say goodbye to this beloved comic strip. You can also tell her how much you liked her Adventure Time: Marceline and the Scream Queens series, too.

Also appearing is Mike Holmes, artist on the popular Secret Coders graphic novel series, and whose work includes Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors, Animal Crackers: Circus Mayhem and many more!

Logan Faerber is a Boston-based freelance illustrator and co-founder of the design company Dobot. Faerber is currently working on several comic series including Deathface and Re-pro-duct along with designing apparel, websites, posters, albums and a variety of other mediums.

Much of Logan’s style found its roots in modern day comic artists such Paul Pope, Nathan Fox, Guy Davis and Craig Thompson and has developed into the unique style he exhibits today. Logan was featured in the comic anthology Hellbound 2 with his story “Grampire”, as well as in Gemma Correll’s “What I Wore Today” book collective. Logan also provided the art for the graphic novel “Re-pro-duct” with writer Austin Wilson and has done an alternate covers for Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors comics from BOOM! Studios.

Artist Bob Flynn speaks at Montserrat School of Art on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at 11:30 AM. Bob Flynn is the director of art and animation at Fablevision Studios. Flynn additionally writes and creates stories for SpongeBob Comics and Bravest Warriors. His work has appeared in Nickelodeon Magazine which led to the launch of the comic series Heeby Jeeby Comix.
