Boston Comic Con 2012 Announces Art Auction

Press Release:

The Boston Comic Con hosts their inaugural public auction of original comic book art at the 2012 show. The auction will be held on Saturday April 21, 2012 at 7pm at the Hynes Convention Center in Suite 102. This is your chance to own a piece of original art from some of the most notable comic book artists in the industry. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Mike Wieringo Scholarship for aspiring comic book artists. The guest auctioneer will be writer Todd Dezago, who frequently collaborated with Wieringo on titles including Sensational Spider-Man and Tellos.

In just a few short years, the Boston Comic Con (BCC) has burst onto the national scene as an old school convention for comic book purists, collectors, and art enthusiasts. In our efforts to further the BCC’s reputation as a comic book art driven show, the BCC is holding its first annual original art auction. Our goal is to generate additional proceeds for the show in order to finance and improve our ever-expanding artist alley, as well as to contribute to a worthy comic book art related charity. As such many of our notable guest artists have chosen to support the BCC and the Mike Wieringo Scholarship by voluntarily donating a piece of their original art to the auction.

About The Mike Wieringo Scholarship:
This scholarship was established in memory of comic book artist Mike Wieringo for aspiring comic book artists studying sequential art at the Savannah College of Art and Design who can demonstrate not only the talent but the financial need. The scholarship recipient is chosen by a panel of comic book art professionals and close friends of Mike Wieringo. Finalists are expected to submit a portfolio. This scholarship is renewable up to three times as long as the recipient continues to meet established criteria.
