NYC – Zen Ghosts Signing

JON J MUTH  signs on Wednesday, October 20th at 5-7pm.

Books of Wonder is pleased to announce that on Wednesday, October 20th, we will host award-winning author/artist JON J MUTH for a reception to celebrate the publication of Zen Ghosts and the opening of an exhibit and sale of the book’s art. The reception will begin at 5pm with light refreshments and time to view JON J MUTH’s magnificent artwork.

At 6pm, JON J MUTH will present his newest picture book, Zen Ghosts, the third book in the Zen series which begins with his Caldecott Honor Book Zen Shorts and continues with Zen Ties. In Zen Ghosts, Addy, Karl, and Michael are planning their Halloween costumes, when their panda friend, Stillwater, stops by in his ghost costume – a spirit mask and flowing blue kimono. Stillwater promises that he will tell a frightening ghost story to the children if they meet him after they finish the night’s trick-or-treating. But when the children arrive at Stillwater’s house for the ghost story, they are treated to a strange and beautiful tale about a young woman who splits her spirit in two. Following his presentation, the author/artist will take questions from the audience, then sign copies of all of his enchanting books. The artwork will remain on display through the end of the month.

NYC – The Search for WondLa Launch Party

Tony DiTerlizzi and special guest Uma Thurman launch a new book at Books of Wonder:

Books of Wonder is truly thrilled to announce that on Wednesday, September 22, TONY DITERLIZZI will be here to launch his fantastic, new book, The Search for WondLa! This is the first book in an incredible trilogy, about a 12-year-old girl named Eva Nine, who has never met another person. Raised in a high-tech, underground sanctuary by a Multi-Utility Task Help Robot (Muthr), Eva has been trained to survive the world outside of sanctuary, though she has never seen it for herself.  When an invader attacks the Sanctuary, forcing Eva to flee to the surface, she discovers the outside world is nothing like she was told it was. Is she on Earth? Or is this some new planet? Eva finds herself on a thrilling quest to find if there are any other humans left and, if not, what happened to her people?

Written and lavishly illustrated in two-colors by Caldecott Honor Book recipient TONY DITERLIZZI, who is best known as the co-author and illustrator of the NY Times best-selling Spiderwick Chronicles, this is a rollicking adventure, mystery, and coming-of-age story you and your young readers will never forget! In support of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, who will receive a portion of the night’s sales, Academy Award-nominated actress, Uma Thurman, will be on hand to introduce TONY DITERLIZZI at 6pm. TONY DITERLIZZI will read from his new book, take questions from the audience, and sign copies of all of his books. So be sure to come and join us for this very exciting launch party to celebrate The Search for WondLa! Ages 9-12. 6-8pm. Refreshments will be served.
