Brad Meltzer signs on Saturday, January 15th at 7:30 pm.
No. 1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer returns with The Inner Circle (Grand Central Publishing, $26.99) a pulse-pounding new novel of lies and deception at the highest levels of government. Beecher White, a young archivist, spends his days working with the most important documents of the U.S. government: There are stories no one knows. Hidden stories. I love those stories. And since I work in the National Archives, I find those stories for a living. When Clementine Kaye, his first childhood crush, shows up at the Archives asking for his help tracking down her long-lost father, Beecher tries to impress her by showing her the secret vault where the President of the United States privately reviews classified documents. It is also where Beecher and Clementine accidentally happen upon a priceless artifact — a 200-year-old dictionary that once belonged to George Washington – hidden inside a desk chair. Eager to discover why the President is hiding this important national treasure, the two soon find themselves entangled in a web of deception, conspiracy, and murder that will reveal the most well kept secret of the U.S. Presidency.

FL – Two Cents Plain Signing

Martin Lemelman signs on December 29, 2010 at 7:30 pm.
Martin Lemelman’s elegiac and bittersweet graphic memoir Two Cents Plain collects the memories and artifacts of the author’s childhood in Brooklyn. The son of Holocaust survivors, Lemelman grew up in the back of his family’s candy store in Brownsville during the 1950s and ’60s, as the neighborhood, and much of the city, moved into a period of deep decline. In Two Cents Plain, Lemelman pieces together the fragments of his past in an effort to come toterms with a childhood that was marked by struggle both in and outside of the home. But his was not a childhood wholly without its pleasures. Lemelman’s Brooklyn is also the nostalgic place of egg creams and comic books, malteds and novelty toys, where the voices of Brownsville’s denizens—the deli man, the fish man, and the fruit man—all come to vivid life. Two Cents Plain is a wholly unique memoir and a reading experience not soon forgotten.

Her legendary career encompasses the Broadway and London stages, blockbuster Hollywood films, award-winning television shows, multiple album releases and concert tours and the world of children’s publishing.
Andrews’ dedication to children has been steadfast throughout her career. She began writing books for young readers over thirty-five years ago and her first two novels – Mandy and The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles – remain in print and in high demand. Her other books include the Little Bo series, and an additional 15 picture books, novels and Early Readers co-authored with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, including the best-selling Dumpy the Dump Truck series, Simeon’s Gift, Dragon: Hound of Honor, The Great American Musical and Thanks to You: Wisdom from Mother and Child.Together the best-selling mother-daughter team head-up “The Julie Andrews Collection” publishing program, formerly with HarperCollins Publishers and now with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, dedicated to publishing “quality children’s books which nurture the imagination and cultivate a sense of wonder.”
The main character in their newest collaboration, The Very Fairy Princess, is Geraldine. While her friends and family may not believe in fairies, Geraldine knows, deep down, that she is a VERY fairy princess. From morning to night, Gerry does everything that fairy princesses do: she dresses in her royal attire, practices her flying skills, and she is always on the lookout for problems to solve. But it isn’t all twirls and tiaras – as every fairy princess knows, dirty fingernails and scabby knees are just the price you pay for a perfect day!
This new picture book features the joyful illustrations of Christine Davenier, and is sure to inspire that sparkly feeling within the hearts of readers young and old.
