Books Are Magic is very excited to host Roxane Gay, deeply beloved author of the books Hunger, Bad Feminist and Difficult Women, as she presents the new book Not That Bad in conversation with actor and book contributor Ally Sheedy on Tuesday, June 12th at 7:00 PM.

Edited and with an introduction by Roxane Gay, this anthology of first-person essays tackles rape, assault, and harassment head-on.

NYC – Sleeping Beauties Launch Party

Books Are Magic presents a special evening with Stephen King and Owen King at St. Ann’s & the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn Heights on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 at 7:00 PM! To celebrate the release of their new collaborative novel SLEEPING BEAUTIES, Stephen and Owen will be kicking off their North American tour with this first event on the book’s publication day. Stephen and Owen will present SLEEPING BEAUTIES and will take audience questions. Each ticket guarantees entry to the talk as well as one hardcover copy of Sleeping Beauties. ​​​​​​​Tickets available at the link at noon on Monday July 10th….

Please carefully review the following event guidelines before purchasing a ticket:

  • This event will take place at St. Ann’s and the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn Heights, NOT at our store in Cobble Hill. Please note the correct address: 157 Montague St., Brooklyn, NY.
  • All tickets are seated, but seating at this event is on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no reserved seating.
  • This is a presentation and Q&A event only. There will not be live signing, personalization, or photos with the author.
  • Each ticket includes ONE COPY of Sleeping Beauties, and these will be distributed at the end of the event.
  • As a special bonus, 400 of the copies given out at the event will be signed by Stephen and Owen King. These will be distributed completely at random when attendees pick up their copy of the book, and we wish you the best of luck!
  • Ticket purchases are limited to FOUR tickets per person.
  • Tickets are non-refundable.
