May 22nd marks the public release of the first issue of a wild and fascinating comic collaboration. Occupy Comics #1 will be on shelves and we at Forbidden Planet recommend everyone get it. This is not only a comic that features the likes of Alan Moore, Art Spiegelman, David Lloyd, Charlie Adlard, Marc Andreyko, Kevin Colden, Molly Crabapple, J.M. DeMatteis, Joshua Dysart, Brea Grant, Joe Keatinge, George Krstic, Joseph Michael Linsner, B. Clay Moore, Steve Niles, Laurie Penny, Matt Pizzolo, Steve Rolston, Riley Rossmo, Douglas Rushkoff, Tim Seeley, Simon Spurrier, and Ben Templesmith. It’s not just a time capsule of radical ideas/stories for/about change. And, most importantly, its not just quick way for some people to make quick and easy money like some other comic publishers that shall remain nameless. DC. ARTISTS ALLEY TABLE: $300 Includes 6′ table, 2 chairs, and 2 passes. Great for a solo venture or a two-man team. Or a two-woman team. Man/Woman teams are fine, too.
FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS above the allotment you receive with your purchased space(s), the cost is $50 per additional seat, up to a maximum of 1 additional person per Artists Alley Table, no exceptions–we want everyone to have the most pleasant and comfortable show they can, and overcrowded tables are the opposite of pleasant and comfortable show they can, and overcrowded tables are the opposite of pleasant and comfortable.

NOTE that paid spaces in Artists Alley are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Unless you have other specific preferences, we will place tables beginning in the center of the area, moving outward. There is a space on the Artists Alley registration page where you can put seating preferences if you have them. We try as hard as we can to honor these, but obviously we cannot honor all of them, so thanks for your understanding!

HEROES CONVENTION was founded in 1982 by Shelton Drum, owner of Charlotte’s Heroes Aren’t Hard To Find comics shop. Since then the convention has become famous for its comics-first and family-friendly atmosphere, where fans can mingle directly with professionals and exhibitors. Image Comics’ complete signing schedule for New York Comic Con is now available! The schedule includes signings by top creators every day of the convention, October 11-14 in New York City’s Javits Center. Signings will take place at the Image Comics booth, #1229.

The Orlando Comic Expo to Debut in September 2012 with Bob Camp, Ben Templesmith, Ron Wilson, and More

The Orlando Comic Expo is Coming Soon
July 23rd, 2012 – The Orlando Comic Expo will debut on September 23^rd, 2012!

With a large selection of vendors selling comic books, action figures, cards, games, manga and Star Wars items there will be something for everyone. A fine foray of local writers and artists will be exhibiting their works, selling original artwork and commissions. In addition, an art contest and costume contest will be held for any attendee to participate in and have the chance to win convention cash! Whether you are a collector, aspiring artist, or just want to enjoy the sights that are included in a convention filled with a hodgepodge of costumed heroes (and villains) walking around—chances are that the Orlando Comic Expo will make for a fun-filled day with family and friends!

Be sure to arrive early to pick-up a FREE Orlando Comic Expo exclusive poster featuring the Fantastic Four’s mighty clobberin’ hero, “The Thing”! The poster was created by Marvel Comics artist, Ron Wilson (who will be in attendance).

In addition, the Orlando Comic Expo has teamed up with Orlando-area comic book store, “A Comic Shop” to host a “Pre-Show Party” on Saturday, September 22^nd from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Everyone is invited to enjoy the evening surrounded by other like-minded pop culture fanatics, guests of the show and other cool characters. The beer is FREE, courtesy of the Orlando Comic Expo (IDs will be checked at the door).

The Orlando Comic Expo will feature the following industry professionals that attendees are invited to meet, greet, and commission artwork from at the convention:

• - Bob Camp: Artist, cartoonist, writer, director, and famed co-creator of “Ren and Stimpy”
• - Richard LeParmentier: Actor who portrayed Darth Vader’s dissenting “Admiral Motti” in Star Wars: A New Hope. Recipient of Darth Vader’s force-grip and the infamous, “I find your lack of faith disturbing”.
• - Ron Wilson: Legendary Marvel Comics artist.
• - Ben Templesmith: Co-creator of “30 Days of Night” and nominee for the highly esteemed “Eisner Award”.
• - Nalini Krishan: Actress who portrayed Jedi, “Barriss Offee” in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
• - Christian Slade: Former Disney animator and artist known for his popular all-ages graphic novel, “Korgi”.
• - Richard Livingston: Concept artist and former Disney layout artist (credits include: Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo and Stitch and Brother Bear).

The Orlando Comic Expo will be on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Doubletree Hotel (formerly the Crowne Plaza) near the Orlando International Airport. Admission is $10 for adults and admission is FREE for children (12 and under). Parking is FREE.

Also, for the first time in a long time and most likely the last time, appearing in one room together are the LEGENDS OF MAD MAGAZINE – Al Feldstein, Al Jaffee, and Paul Coker.

The Boston Comic Con announces its panel schedule for the 2012 convention! Fans will have the opportunity to see some of the brightest stars in comic book history between the rare reunion of MAD artists to the youngest new talents from the pages of Womanthology. This year’s line up of talent is certainly one that is not to be missed! In addition Boston Comic Con hosts several Geek Week Events including stand up comedians, a film festival, a costume contest, and much, much more! Founder Renae de Liz and contributors Cat Staggs, Ming Doyle, Ellen Crenshaw, Stacie Ponder, Megan Brennan, and Ceili Conway discuss their work on one of Kickstarter’s most successful projects and the state of female creators in the industry.

Spotlight on Jill Thompson: 2pm-3pm
The creator of Scary Godmother and Beasts of Burden speaks about her art and career. Don’t miss this opportunity to speak with one of the best in the biz!

Legends: 3pm-4pm
Legendary talents Joe Sinnott (inker Fantastic Four), Bernie Wrightson (Frankenstein), Herb Trimpe (co-creator of Wolverine), Bob Layton (Iron Man), and Bill Sienkiewicz (Elektra: Assassin) talk about their long careers and how they’ve changed the industry.

Michael Golden, Storytelling: 4pm-5pm
Artist Michael Golden discusses his method of telling a story visually as one of the most influential artists in the business with credits on titles like Dr. Strange, Star Wars, X-Men and more.

Creator Owned Comics: 5pm-6pm
Joe Benitez (Lady Mechanika), Becky Cloonan (Wolves), Ben Templesmith (Wormwood: Gentlemen Corpse), and Geof Darrow (Shaolin Cowboy) speak about indie comics and their growing influence in the comic market.
