GRANT MORRISON signs SUPERGODS at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Wednesday 6th July from 6 – 7pm.
Beginning with the creation of Superman in 1938, Grant Morrison charts the history of the superheroes. From Batman to the Flash to Dr Manhattan, Supergods looks at every key character, but also takes in unique national strips, and the strange spin-offs and forgotten curios that litter the outer reaches of this weird universe. Morrison explores the relationship between our world and that of the superheroes, showing how each reinvention of a character by a new creative team has held up a mirror to real-world preoccupations, latent or otherwise.
Written in a conversational style, and full of Morrison’s trademark wit, humour and dynamic storytelling – as well as unique insights into his own working practices – Supergods unlocks one of the most exciting and least explored strands of popular culture.
Grant Morrison was born in Glasgow in 1960. As a comics writer, he is renowned for his bold reinventions of existing superheroes and his own authored titles. He has had successful runs on Animal Man, Doom Patrol, JLA, The Invisibles, New X-Men, Fantastic Four, Batman & Robin, and All Star Superman. His Batman: Arkham Asylum is the best-selling original graphic novel ever published.
