SF – Archie Family Fun Day

The Cartoon Art Museum hosts an Archie Family Fun Day on Sunday, August 7, 2011 as we welcome Nancy Silberkleit, co-CEO of Archie Comics and Developer of Comic Book Fairs; David Rojas, Director of Education for Archie Comics; and veteran Archie Comics artist Rich Koslowski for a fun-filled afternoon including drawing activities, free Archie comic books for visitors, and a birthday cake celebrating Archie’s birthday! Rojas will run workshops for kids and premiere Archie’s Education program for kids, teachers and parents throughout the day. The Archie Family Fun Day programming is free with paid admission to the Cartoon Art Museum.

Visitors to the Cartoon Art Museum bookstore can purchase Archie Comics through Comic Book Fairs, which will donate 40% of Archie’s sales to CAM throughout the year. Please visit their website for more information about this program.

DE – Free Comic Book Day 2011

Dan Parent, Neil Vokes, Jamar Nicholas and more sign on Saturday May 7, 2011 for Free Comic Book Day!

Dan Parent – Archie comics artist best known for his work on The Love Showdown and Veronica #202. Dan will be on hand to sign for fans.

Neil Vokes – Artist on Adventures of the Mask, Jonny Demon, Untold Stories of Spider-Man and Superman Adventures. Neil will be on hand to sign for fans.

Jamar Nicholas – Artist on the memoir-turned-graphic book Fist Stick Knife Gun (written by Geoffrey Canada) and creator of the web comic Detective Boogaloo. Jamar will be on hand to sign for fans.

Ben Harvey – Ben will be on hand to sign for fans.

John Gallagher – Creator of Buzzboy. John will be on hand to sign for fans.

Rich Faber – Artist on Green Lantern, Impulse, Venom and Quicksilver and the co-creator of Roboy Red. Rich will be on hand to sign for fans.

NJ – Archie Gets Married

Michael Uslan signs on Thursday November 04, 2010 at 7:00 PM.

The cornerstone of Archie comics has forever been a love triangle. Montclair author Michael Uslan, also executive producer of the Batman films, has finally untangled the whole Archie/Betty/Veronica thing in a seven-part story, illustrated by Stan Goldberg.

NJ – Archie Signing

Fernando Ruiz signs on  Saturday July 10th from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Dewey’s Comic City 13 Park Avenue in Madison, NJ. The artist will be sketching and signing copies of his latest work, the first issue of the MAN FROM R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. series that begins in Archie Comics #610. Copies will be available at the signing.

NYC – An Evening with Archie

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art – MoCCA is pleased to present an evening of Archie Comics with Archie Co-President/Editor-in-Chief Victor Gorelick and Archie writer Arie Kaplan!

Thursday January 21st, 7 PM

Victor Gorelick (born in Brooklyn) is an American comic book editor and executive. Currently the Editor-in-Chief and Co-President of Archie Comics, the oldest humor comics company in the United States, he has worked for the company for over fifty years in a wide variety of roles.

Victor Gorelick joined Archie Comics as an art assistant, and has served as production coordinator, art director and now as Archie Comic’s Editor-in-Chief and Co-President. Mr. Gorelick has unique knowledge of every facet of the editorial process required to create and publish successful comics. He has done it all from writing to coloring, and everything in between. He has highly regarded artistic skills and an eye for meticulous detail. He also has a well honed sense of the wholesome content of Archie Comics that has been the basis for the bond of trust built with readers by Archie Comics down through the years. He has worked closely with numerous companies designing various custom comic books. For example, he has overseen collaborations between Archie Comics and Kraft General Foods, Radio Shack and even the F.B.I.! He is a moving force on the Comic Magazine Association of America’s Code Authority Guidelines Committee, a  member of the Board of Advisors of the Joe Kubert School where many of today’s comic artists first learned their craft, and he has taught
cartooning as an instructor at the Kingsborough Community College in New York City.

Arie Kaplan is a comedian, MAD Magazine writer, and author of the book From Krakow to Krypton: Jews and Comic Books (JPS). He also wrote the comic book miniseries Speed Racer: Chronicles of the Racer (IDW Publishing), and he’s written for MTV, Cartoon Network, and PBS Kids. Other comic book credits include the DC title Cartoon Network Action Pack, the Bongo Comics anthology Simpsons Winter Wingding, the Archie Comics title Archie & Friends, and the Papercutz series Tales From the Crypt. Arie will discuss his work as a comic book writer, nonfiction author, and animation scribe.

Arie Kaplan will be signing copies of his award-winning book From Krakow to Krypton: Jews and Comic Books after the talk.
