He also created the revolutionary comics “American Flagg” and “Black Kiss” and did modern updates of “The Shadow” and “Blackhawk”. He’s worked on the original “Flash” TV series, and more recently on comics like “Satellite Sam” with Matt Fraction, SHIELD and many more!

CA – Star Wars: Artifact Edition Signing

0000-ca-chyakin

Howard Chaykin (Satellite Sam, American Flagg!) appears at Hypno Comics from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday December 23rd. Howard is the artist of the original Marvel Star Wars comic as well as many other titles. The Star Wars Artifact Editions will be available for only $99 at the event!

IDW Publishing is pleased to offer under license from our good friends at Marvel Comics the first Star Wars Artifact Edition! Featuring scans of original art mainly from the initial 10 issues of Marvel Comics’ groundbreaking Star Wars comics, as well as from other early issues by Carmine Infantino. As with all Artist’s Edition style books, there will be a wealth of extras, including a superb cover gallery showcasing some of the very earliest examples.

•What is an Artifact Edition?

•LIKE AN ARTIST’S EDITION, AN ARTIFACT EDITION PRESENTS PAGES SCANNED FROM THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL ART. While the Artist’s Edition line produces only complete stories, Artifact Editions allow IDW to present books even if all of the original art cannot be obtained, and will include extras such as advertisements, portfolio pieces, color guides, and more.

•While appearing to be in black & white, each page has been scanned in COLOR to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art—for example, you are able to clearly see paste-overs, blue pencils in the art, editorial notes, art corrections. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board.
