With the catastrophic cancellation of Boston Comic Con several artists wanted to reach out to area fans and give them a piece of what was taken away! We’ll have the My Little Pony Boston Comic Con variant cover on sale as well as Tim Sale’s epic Captain America con exclusive t-shirt!! Please come check it out!!

Hard to believe it has almost been a year since we opened our doors on February 8th, 2012 and we would like to celebrate by holding some special events on the weekend of February 9-10. We’re planning a three stage celebration – an in-store minicon on Saturday afternoon, followed by an On the Couch with Ty Templeton and an Industry Night Party after that. On Sunday it’s Sketchbook Pro Day with drawing demonstrations and related talks taking place over the afternoon.

Stadium Comics is pleased to announce our next event and signing which will happen on Saturday, June 23rd 2012. This signing will be a fundraiser for the HERO Initiative, and we are super excited about the lineup of artists that will be joining us:

Ken Lashley – Comic book artist on numerous titles such as Blackhawks, Flash, Black Panther, Deadpool, X-Men, Batwing, and more! Plus lots of Star Wars related work for Hasbro, Lucasfilm, and LucasArts!

Leonard Kirk – Comic book artist on numerous titles such as X-Factor, X-Men, Supergirl, Superman, Sigil, Star Trek, New Mutants, Incredible Hulk, Aquaman, JSA, and more!

Richard Zajac – Inker on a number of projects including The Huntress, G.I. Joe, Soulfire and more! Richard also has contributed pencils to Hero Initiative books, and Thoughtless!

Agnes Garbowska – a fan favourtie at Stadium, Agnes has worked on several projects for Marvel Comics including Girl Comics and Spider-Ham. She also is the creator of several titles such as Waking Up Abbey, Imagination Station, and You, Me, and Zombie! Agnes contributes regularly to Saturday Morning Webtoons as the artist on Boo Bear and Flo.

Each artist will be sketching to raise money for Hero. There will be blank covers available for people to have sketched on, and there will be some really cool Hero Initiative merchandise, such as the Ultimate Spider-Man 100 project, the Hulk 100 project, and the Wolverine 100 project comics – which some of the artists that are attending have worked on!

We’ll also hold some raffles, and a big sale on merchandise inside the store!

About the Hero Initiative:

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays’ creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Stadium Comics will once again be the place to celebrate Free Comic Book Day this year. This event has evolved over the last few years to be perhaps the biggest event of its kind in the Greater Toronto Area! More details are being released every day, so be sure to keep checking this space for up-to-date info! Here is a sample of what we will have to offer on May 1st:

ARTIST GUEST APPEARANCES
The highlight of any Free Comic Book Day at Stadium Comics is the amazing lineup of artists on hand to sign and sketch for those in attendance! This year we have the following people scheduled to appear:

Ken Lashley (JUST ANNOUNCED) – Artist on Black Panther, X-Men, The Flash, and much more! Ken will be appearing from 11am-6pm  
     
Alex Milne – Artist on several ‘Transformers’ comics for IDW. Alex draws everyone’s favorite Robots like no one else can!   
       
Agnes Garbowska – Artist on Marvel’s ‘Girl Comics’, and creator of ‘You, Me, and Zombie’. Agnes is renowned for her style of drawing, and is always very much in demand at conventions.  
     
Marcio Takara – artist on Disney’s ‘The Incredibles’ by Boom Studios. Marcio’s amazing  artistic style wowed attendees at our last Free Comic Book Day. Check out some of his work here. 
     
George Todorovski – co-creator of The Bear Stories, also appeared in Heavy Metal magazine.
     
Chris Hatzopoulos – co-creator of ‘The Bear Stories’. Chris is also a well-respected chiptunes music composer!  
     
Vince Sunico – artist with Spent Pencils Studio. Vince is a personal favorite of many convention-goers and customers here at Stadium Comics!
     
Arnold Trinidad – artist with Spent Pencils Studio. Talented penciler Arnold is the “founding father” of Spent Pencils Studio.

Norman Antonio – Custom costume designer with Heroes In Tights. Norman’s work was recently featured by several Toronto news outlets covering the Wizard World Toronto convention!

YOU, ME AND ZOMBIE stars Olive and her little Shih Tzu Otis. They wake up one morning to find their whole town over run with Zombies. The two of them want to try to find out what happened and want find a cure to make everyone all better. They set off on the adventure of a life time to find Olive’s father who is a scientist and can maybe help them. But the problem is Olive’s father has vanished and she has no idea where to find him.

The first release of You, Me, and Zombie will be issue 0. This issue takes place a few months after Olive and Otis discovered their town over run by zombies. They found a journal that holds clues to what might have caused everyone to get sick and turn into Zombies.
