WBUR Interviews and Produces Live Radio Drama with the Boston Comics Roundtable
COMICS ON THE RADIO!
BOSTON, MA (OCTOBER 22, 2009) – The Boston Comics Roundtable is proud to announce that an in-depth interview with several of its members will air on WBUR’s Radio Boston program starting on Friday, October 23rd. The segment will also include a radio dramatization of Cathy Leamy’s comic “The Old Howard” produced by WBUR. The interview and radio drama center on the upcoming release of Inbound #4, a Boston comics anthology.
Both the interview and radio drama will air on Friday, October 23rd at 1 p.m., and again on Saturday, October 24th at 1 p.m. (E.S.T.) on 90.9 WBUR in the greater Boston area. Listeners worldwide can hear the story online at http://www.radioboston.org/ on Friday afternoon. Radio Boston has already published a video version of the radio drama, complete with Leamy’s original art, which can be seen at http://www.radioboston.org/stories/2009/10/21/boston-the-comic-book/.
“The interview process was a lot of fun,” says Boston Comics Roundtable founder Dave Kender. “They jammed five of us into the recording studio and fired away questions about the creative process involved with putting the new Inbound anthology together.” The interview was conducted by Radio Boston host Jane Clayson, and is part of a special show with a “Literary Boston” theme.
The dramatization of “The Old Howard,” which appears in Inbound #4, was produced by the staff at Radio Boston and voiced by creator Cathy Leamy and other members of the Boston Comics Roundtable. Complete with music and sound effects, the story comes alive in a totally new and unique way.
Inbound #4 will premiere in December 2009 in New England book stores and online. The issue’s special theme of Boston history includes nearly 40 stories written and illustrated by dozens of creators. More about the book, including samples, pre-ordering information, and a mailing list, are available at http://www.bostoncomicsroundtable.com/inbound-4/.
