UK – Gnash Comics Signing

gnash

Meet artists Jock and Dom Reardon Saturday 13 December 2014 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Gnash Comics, hear them talk about their work from 3:30pm, followed by a Q&A session. There will also be an exhibition of their original comic art!

Mark your calendars, comic collectors and art aficionados; two of the most celebrated British illustrators in the business will be making a personal appearance at GNASH Comics and Graphic Novels on Saturday December 13th.

Dom Reardon is a household name for British industry devotees thanks to a lengthy and renowned run with 2000AD, the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic. Few things inspire more fear than the rule of Tharg, but Reardon has been responsible for countless sleepless nights for comic book consumers; in addition to a number of renowned Terror Tales, Reardon pencilled and inked the spine-chilling Caballistics, Inc. for over half a decade. Most recently Reardon has worked alongside fellow Brit Rob Williams in The Ten-Seconders and The Grievous Journey of Ichabod Azrael, in addition to providing illustrations for the feature-length graphic adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’s Raven’s Gate.

Jock, meanwhile, has worked within the mythical metropolises of Mega City One, Gotham and Hollywood since making his breakthrough at the turn of the millennium. In addition to eminent work on classic 2000 AD strips, Jock’s distinctive drawings have graced countless covers and interiors for industry titans DC, Vertigo and Marvel – Hellblazer, The Losers, Batman, Swamp Thing, Wolverine and Daredevil are just a handful of the marquee characters pencilled by the illustrious illustrator. Currently scaring up a storm alongside celebrated Bat-scribe Scott Snyder with the spellbinding Wytches for Image Comics, an audience with Jock is not to be missed.

In addition to hosting an open Q&A for the fortunate attendees of the appearance alongside Reardon, Jock will also be signing copies of Dredd: The Illustrated Script and Visuals. A gorgeous tome that peeks behind the scenes of 2012’s fantastic cinematic chronicle of everyone’s favourite funnybook fascist, for which the Scottish sketcher provided the concept art, the book also provides a unique comic strip adaptation of Alex Garland’s screenplay.

UK – Ordinary Launch Party

ordinary.jpg.size-230Rob Williams and D’Israeli will be launching their new comic ‘Ordinary’ at the Forbidden Planet Bristol Megastore at 5:00 pm on Wednesday 28th May.

What if everyone woke up with superpowers – and it was the worst thing in the world?

When a strange plague gives every human being on the planet special powers, it’s seen as the next step in human evolution. But hope quickly turns to terror, as every war, terrorist attack, every crime, every simple street argument escalates to a truly horrific point.

The plague must be cured if humankind is to survive. The key lies in the blood of the only human being who didn’t get powers when the plague hit: A downtrodden, recently divorced New York plumber named Michael Fisher. The most ordinary man alive has suddenly become the most extraordinary person on Planet Earth. Giant baseball players, grannies ageing in reverse, a talking Grizzly bear. That’s nothing out of the Ordinary!

Rob Williams is a British comic book writer. Among a huge list of credits, he is a regular writer of JUDGE DREDD for 2000AD, including the hit series’ ‘Titan’ and ‘Trifecta’, he writes THE ROYALS for Vertigo, and recently was one of the writers on the ‘Into The Light’ official tie-in comic for Namco Bandai’s DARK SOULS II computer game.

D’Israeli – aka artist Matt Brooker – has created Future Shocks for 2000 AD, and Consequences, a one-off sequel to Timulo. He has drawn Judge Dredd, worked as a colourist on Miracleman and 2000 AD, and as an inker on Neil Gaiman’s Sandman and Grant Morrison’s Kill Your Boyfriend.

UK – Halo Jones Signing

halojonesweb1

Ian Gibson signs at Gosh Comics on Saturday the 27th of April from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm!

RSVP on Facebook!

Press Release:

Alan Moore and Ian Gibson’s classic 2000 AD saga Halo Jones is coming out in a brand new edition complete with a swanky new cover! We thought we’d welcome her back to our shelves by hosting a signing with the man who drew Halo and her universe for the very first time back in 1984. British comics legend Gibson will be at our hallowed table signing for two whole hours on Saturday the 27th of April from 2pm until 4pm so now’s your chance to get your new Halo scribbled in, or even your battered old ones (although you’ll be missing out on the new introduction by Fairest writer, Lauren Beukes).

Halo was one of the first feminist heroines of comics, a 50th-century everywoman whose story was not the testosterone-fueled story that 2000 AD readers were used to but something else altogether. Says Beukes: “She’s remarkable for being just a girl caught up in extraordinary circumstances. Halo is working class, she doesn’t have any superpowers, in her own words, she was ‘just there’… It’s a story about choices and compromises, about defying expectations, about poverty, society, celebrity, identity, the toll of war, and also love, ambition, ambivalence and the places restless curiosity will take you.” Our pals at Forbidden Planet International have put the whole first chapter online. Head to their excellent blog and have a read.

Gibson is not only known for Halo Jones but Robo-Hunter, Judge Dredd, Ace Trucking Co. and more (and we’re not putting any restrictions on this signing so feel free to bring along your favourites). The new edition of Halo Jones is £13.99 and we’ll have plenty of copies available on the day. However! If reserving a copy will help you sleep at night, send us an email to info@goshlondon.com. We can also sort you out with a signed copy if you can’t make it on the day or happen to live on the other side of the world.
